A delightful secluded romantic Rustic Hide-Away. Set back in over an acre of magnificent foliage. Sit on the lanai listening to the sounds of the crashing waves nearby. At nights wonderful views of the stars and planets from the upstairs lanai . 5 minute walk to Kehena Beach (Black Sand Beach- Clothing Optional). 15 minutes to quaint Pahoa with it's many cafes, restaurants and natural food stores. 30 minutes to Hilo, where you can visit the new Imiloa Center for Astronomy & Planaterium. A great place to learn the history of the Hawaiian People and the relationship of the seas to the stars. 20 minutes to Volcano National Park. So much to do and see, though you may decide just to remain in this very peaceful and tropical setting. During the whaling season can often see beaching whales, and most days it is a great treat to view the antics of the spinning dolphins. Very Quiet & Private Retreat

We very much enjoyed our ten day stay at this unique Rustic Hide-Away. It was clean & comfortable & had everything we needed. The location is great as it is close to Kahena Black Sand Beach, also the warm tide-pools. Kalani Oceanside Spa & Retreat which we used several times is a 10 minute drive & offers day passes. It has a clothing optional pool & sauna as well as jacuzzi plus you can get very healthy meals at a reasonable price.
We also liked being so close to the Volcano & Volcano National Park.
Pahoa Town is only 10 miles away & very unique & interesting.
Hilo is just 20 miles away if you want to shop in a bigger city & also has lots to see & do plus you pass the Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Farm & Factory which is well worth a visit.
We highly recommend this place to anyone wanting a quiet, peaceful location in natural unspoiled Hawaii or for those that also enjoy the Naturist lifestyle.

Idyllic retreat

This house is a perfect retreat for two people, completely secluded on lush grounds--paradise to wake up every morning to the sun shining, the hibiscus blooming and the birds singing! There is plenty to do within an easy 30-40 min drive (farmers markets, Volcanoes National Park, botanical gardens, lava fields, etc.) and the nearby black sand beach is sheltered and laid-back (clothing optional). Definitely not the place to come if you are looking for a resort-like atmosphere! There are interesting restaurants nearby in funky Pahoa, if you want to go out, but the house is comfortable and well appointed, with everything you could possibly need for your stay (wireless internet included). Climate is perfect, with soft island breezes to keep things comfortable. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone who appreciates nature and is looking for a beautiful and relaxing retreat in an unspoiled tropical environment.

My friend and I discovered this house as a refuge... the ambiance is relaxed, inviting and felt as if real people lived in and loved this place. The kitchen was well equipped and the house itself is inviting, warm, non-pretenious while being well appointed and inviting. It was quiet and secluded. Kehena Beach was not our cup of tea but a pre-dawn trek to the lave flow was ever to easy and inspiring. We made wonderous visits to the volcano, tide pools and the amazing tree forest just north of here.
The house was a sanctuary at the end of a long day.
Much gratitude extend to our owners/hosts for their gracious and
thoughtful presentation of an abosolutely healing place of retreat.
