Far on the right is an unobstructed view of 6643-foot high Clingman’s Dome, only 41 feet lower than the highest peak in the eastern United States. Blue skies and streaming clouds arch over these venerable mountains and their rich lode of flora and fauna. The world’s most diverse bio-system is yours to explore, with its cascading waterfalls, crystal trout streams, whitewater rivers, and stands of virgin forests. Enjoy!

Buffalo Creek Guest Cottage is luxurious, contemporary sophistication in one-level, cottage-style lodging. A flight of outdoor steps to this private perch is like a stairway to heaven for adoring couples. And for serious fly fishermen, a quality step up to accommodations that the famous ORVIS organization uses along with the Buffalo Creek Lodge. The cottage assures your comfort with air-conditioning, two satellite TVs, and ceiling fans in living room, dining area, bedroom, and bathroom. Light-finished pine paneling throughout.

The bedroom contains a queen bed, custom built-in clothes cabinetry, and TV nook. Overhead heat lights keep you cozy in a master-size bathroom with tub/shower, clothes closet, and built-in storage shelving. The living room is a study in complementary woods that brighten the interior. Floors are of beautifully-finished native pine while walls glow with white northern pine and large beams accent beaded pine in the cathedral ceiling. A love seat sofa overlooks a large coffee table to TV by satellite. Two facing, oversize daybed sofas offer total body comfort beyond imagining.

A full, open kitchen shares a corner of the living room ambiance. New appliances make your food preparation easy: electric stove, microwave, refrigerator with ice maker, coffee grinder and two pots. Utensils provided. Bar stools hug up to a beautiful wood counter top. Just steps away, your choice: a dining room table with four comfortable chairs or large, open patio deck with cedar furniture including dining table with umbrella, chairs including rockers, and bench. Also gas grill barbecue. Take in the morning sun with your first cup of coffee and favorite book on the intimate, secluded front porch. The private Buffalo Creek picnic area- 'The Pointe'- is now available to our guest. A two - three minute stroll from the Guest Cottage an you're there. Relax in a hammock , swing or comfortable lounge chairs. Great spot to grill out and watch the beautiful sun sets...you can also reserve the Pointe for a private day/evening for yourself or friends.

Returning from the UK for a second time

  • 5 of 5
We have just re-visited Buffalo Creek Guest Cottage for the second time and had another fantastic holiday there for 2 weeks. We enjoyed the cabin so much last year that we persuaded my parents to join us and they stayed in the owners other cabin, Bridge Cottage. They thoroughly enjoyed it too.
Beau is the most amazing host - extremely accommodating, thoughtful and generous. We also had some really fun evenings, watching the sun set over the Smoky Mountains. You never tire of the views.
This year we brought our mountain bikes with us so we went on several long rides on nearby trails.
Lulu's Restaurant in Sylva was recommended to us this year and we had a really nice lunch. The catfish was delicious.

Prachtige houten cottage

  • 5 of 5

Magnifique cottage pittoresque!

  • 5 of 5

Peace and Comfort, surrounded by the Smokies

  • 5 of 5
My friend and I spent 4 nights in this wonderful cottage. We arrived in the afternoon and were immediately very happy with our choice. Beau, the owner, is not only an artist that has arranged everything with great taste inside the cottage, but he is also an inspired landscaper who managed to clear out some exceptionally stunning views. His properties are set a little higher up a steep hill, and it's all well worth the climb. On a regular nice day, all you can see around is trees and mountains, with view on some of the tallest mountains of the Smokies. That's right, it's a hidden gem in the mountains as you won't even see Bryson City set a little lower, hidden by the trees. Finding the cottage at night would be a little trickier so we recommend getting there during daytime if you can. We unpacked as fast as we could so we could peacefully enjoy the rest of the afternoon and sunset in this picturesque setting, with the birds singing.

In the cottage, you will find everything you need: clean towels and sheets, coffee maker, dishes, detailed documentation for the TV, A/C, BBQ, etc. We still had a few questions and Beau made himself available to help us out and even have a drink and chat. He was very welcoming and made sure that we were having a great time.

The weather was gorgeous the first 3 days so we barbecued and, to get the full experience, the next day we had to make some hot dogs at the La Pointe fireplace, about 2 min by foot from this property. You'll find some logs ready to go, a water distribution with a sink, and everything, all you need to do is start the fire. And of course again, an amazing view. At night, some spaced-out properties light up like diamonds in the mountains. It was pretty magical.

Make sure you pack some sun lotion, insect repellent, flip flops, sun glasses, and you're ready to go and come back with memories that will last you a lifetime!

The last day it rained, and I was actually really glad it did, because we got to see where the Smokies got their name from, i.e. how the smoke froms from the mountains into the clouds.

I would not hesitate twice booking this property again if I were to go back through the Smokies.
Highly recommended !!!

A five star mountain experience

  • 5 of 5
Perhaps the best feature of this cabin is its gracious owner, Beau, who also lives nearby on the property. I called Beau when I neared Bryson City in order to meet him at the cabin. I made a wrong turn and was amazed to discover Beau, in his pickup truck, waving at me from behind to signal that I was going in the wrong direction. Beau is a wealth of information delivered in a friendly fashion with a Georgia accent.

The cabin has an excellent floor plan with a spacious great room leading to a deck, all of which have an awesome view of the Smokies. It is well maintained and very clean. The deck has two padded rockers and a picnic table with umbrella. If you bring binoculars, you can see the observation tower atop Clingmans Dome. The interior has attractive finished wood floors, walls, and ceiling, with large beams that highlight the cathedral ceiling. There is a large flat screen TV with Dish network, a fully equipped and spacious kitchen, air conditioning, and numerous pieces of interesting memorabilia. Also on the grounds is a landscaped picnic area with a swing and panoramic view of the mountains.

The cabin is easily accessed by paved road which is apparently unusual for a cabin with a commanding view. Most others that I saw had gravel roads and did not seem amenable to two wheel drive.

There is a large supermarket five minutes from the cabin and another few minutes places you in the quaint town of Bryson City, which definitely merits exploration. Stop by the welcome center where the accommodating staff will provide you with information and maps for all of the area’s attractions. The beautiful Deep Creek area of the Park is five minutes from Bryson City and the Cherokee entrance is about twenty minutes away. Don’t miss tubing in Deep Creek where tube rentals range from $3 to $5 for the day. The Nantahala Gorge, about twenty minutes away, rivals the scenery in the National Park. There are many rafting companies that offer inexpensive floats that range from lazy to class III rapids.

I whole-heartily recommend the Buffalo Creek Guest Cottage.
