La Cave is a former winery, built of stone in the traditional local style around the end of the 19th century. It has been beautifully converted into a luxurious three-storey house with four bedrooms, and is ideal for groups of six to eight.

La Maniere is a hamlet that was once devoted to silk production, and an ancient mulberry tree in the garden of La Cave dates from that time. Surrounding the hamlet are vineyards and small wooded area of mostly pines, perfect for a stroll amid the scent of wild thyme and rosemary.

The hamlet of La Manière is located between the villages of Puisserguier and Cébazan, a short drive from the RN112, which connects Béziers with Albi. Puisserguier is a lively village, only five minutes away by car, with a weekly market offering fresh produce, cheeses and general groceries to mention but a few. There is also a good selection of shops, bakers, butchers, grocers, two bars, a restaurant and a pharmacy. Near the village of Cazédarnes stands the Abbaye de Fontcaude, dating from the 12th and 13th centuries, where concerts are held in the summer.

  • A 20% deposit guarantees the reservation; the balance is due eight weeks before arrival. A set of linens and bath towels is included in the price. A change of linen can be provided during your stay at cost. A security deposit to the value of €500 is required on arrival. Guests are asked not to smoke inside the house. Smoking is permitted on the terrace/in the garden. All costs for utilities are included, except during the off season period, where heating is charged according to consumption.

    Arrival days are flexible up until July and from September onwards, depending on availability

Notes: The inside of the house has retained its traditional character, with exposed stone walls and wooden roof beams. On the ground floor is a large L-shaped open-plan kitchen-living-dining room. In the living area, a sofa and easy chairs surround a TV (with satellite receiver). The dining area has a large refectory table and chairs, and the kitchen is fully fitted and well-equipped. French doors lead out to the garden and the swimming pool. Also on the ground floor is a shower room, a toilet, and the laundry facilities. Stairs lead up from the entrance hall to the middle floor. A living area on the galleried landing has sofas and easy chairs. There are two bedrooms on this floor, both with double beds, and a bathroom with a bath, a shower cubicle, double basins, and a separate toilet. On the top floor are two more bedrooms, each with a pair of single beds. This floor also has a bathroom with a shower, a basin, and a separate toilet.

Well placed and comfortable holiday home

We were delighted to find on arrival that the pictures on the website and the description were an excellent representation of the property. The owners were extremely friendly and obviously took pride in the property as it was spotless and very well maintained - they even brought us a gift of produce grown in their own garden during our second week!
The property was full of character, with exposed stone walls etc. and very comfortable, with everything we needed for our stay provided. Everything was clean and tidy, the garden was well looked after and the swimming pool a good size. The upstairs lounge area was an added bonus, was very spacious and meant we could spread out if we needed to. The bathrooms were very good, and the showers worked well with no water-pressure problems.
La Maniere is quiet and secluded, but still very well placed and in easy reach of local amenities in Puissergier (a bread van also called during the morning while we were staying there). We especially liked the twice-weekly market in St Chinian. We found many interesting places to visit nearby e.g. Beziers, Carcassonne, Narbonne, Perpignan, Minerve. It's also a great region for wine, with plenty of excellent local wines.
We had a very relaxing and comfortable holiday here and would recommend it for families, although maybe not as suitable for toddlers because of the amount of stairs.
Recommended for:  Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Romantic Getaway

A Fabulous house for a great break.

My wife and I booked La Cave as a base to celebrate a "significant" birthday of mine in June 2010.
We had great help from Andreas Wagner to find exactly what we wanted and when we arrived at the house, after a long flight from Singapore and a connecting flight from Paris, we were absolutely delighted and very pleased with our choice.
The owners, Jean-Paul and Monique met us and showed us where everything was and how everything worked, they live in the same hamlet which is convenient if there are problems, but we had no problems at all.
They are extremely nice people and committed to ensuring their guests have an excellent stay in their lovely house.
The house was spotless and the grounds in beautiful condition, though the pool was a bit cold on day 1, but warmed up very quickly with a couple of days sun on it.
The house had everything we needed, while La Maniere has no shops there are supermarkets close by and lovely villages with great cafes all around.
We had a constant stream of people visiting and staying with us over the period we were there and the house is a great place to entertain, we ate outside every day on the lovely terrace and spent a lot of time around the pool enjoying the local wines. The Sunday market at Saint Chinian is excellent and it is important to visit the Wine Co-op for supplies. A visit to Capestang and lunch beside the Canal de Midi is also a wonderful way to spent a few hours.
We can strongly recommend La Cave for a fabulous holiday, in fact we enjoyed it so much we bought a house about 30km away, I just wish I could get Jean-Paul and Monique to look after it when we are not there.

a lovely holiday for a family with children

La Cave was everything the photos suggested - beautiful setting and village and the pool was magnificent. Facilities were clean and the interior was light and airy.
We were a family of three couples plus a grandmother - the second floor is not very comfortambe for adults on account of the sloping ceilings and small beds. It is more suited to a family of four adults and four children.
However, the area was perfect, lots of beautiful villages with fantastic restaurants the the wine was superb.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Families with Teenagers

A perfect holiday

We had a really lovely time at La Cave in August. The house was more than we had hoped it would be, and the children loved using the swimming pool! The house made for a relaxing holiday, it was well looked after, and the owners very helpful and friendly!

La Maniere is a wonderful spot, peaceful and quiet yet easy for visiting places; we did some fantastic sightseeing and our children loved the Cathar castles and Carcassonne! The markets in Puisserguier and St Chinian were very good, with so much fresh produce for sale, along with other tempting things!

The garden looked much nicer in real life than on the pictures, and the house has a lot of space, which isn't obvious from the photographs either.

Thank you for making it all so easy - we'll be back again!!
