CONCH SHELL COTTAGE NEVIS AT THE BEACH, PRIVATE, NEAR NISBET PLANTATION

Nisbet Beach Cottage Rental Photos and Description

1 bedroom, 1 full bathroom, sleeps 2

Perfect for honeymoon, romantic holiday, one person retreat CONCH SHELL COTTAGE is located on a secluded white coral sand beach with the privacy of a picket fence draped in flowering bushes and palms and acres of beach yet without being too isolated since the small 4 star Nisbet Plantation Resort and its bar and restaurants and spa is beach foot steps away. The interior, in Caribbean style vaulted ceiling, is bright, inviting and charming with original art by local artists, is immaculately clean and very well maintained. The screened-in porch has a table, chairs, hammock while the patio has comfortable chaise lounge chairs for sunning, relaxing and reading. You can see the beach and hear the waves curling over the pristine reefs and enjoy the magnificent clear evening sky with moonlight and incredibly bright stars. You will be met at airport or ferry and brought to the cottage FREE OF CHARGE. A caretaker will be available.

Why we have so many repeat guests: Conch Shell Cottage is in the best location on Nevis, on a beautiful white coral sand beach near pristine coral reefs and privately hidden by palms and tropical flowering bushes, yet close to a small upscale resort and its bar and restaurants.

Guests mention how incredible the staff is and how welcome they feel. Marlon, tall and smiling, will greet you at the airport or wherever your boat lands on Nevis. He will transport you to the cottage and happily answer your questions on the way. Then Bonnie, the caretaker, will greet you, give you an orientation to the cottage and island, and be available if you have any questions during your stay. Jeannette, the maid, has carefully cleaned the cottage for you. Henry, the gardener, has created a beautiful garden for you and will try to give you fresh fruit that he has grown. Pre arrival, I will send you info on special car rental, restaurants, things to see and do, airline info, etc.

thank you from R+S biology profs, PA: Jane, we certainly enjoyed CONCH SHELL COTTAGE. The major plus is its seclusion, the porch for reading/lounging and the chaise lounge chairs on the patio with the view/sound to the ocean/waves. We are happy to recommend CONCH SHELL COTTAGE for a honeymoon or any holiday. CONCH SHELL is a vaulted ceiling, one room cottage with attached screened-in porch and outside patio. There is a kitchenette area, a nice sized closet, separate bathroom with shower and a desk/vanity area. Jane has equipped the cottage with all the possible items that you might need/want from dish soap to wine glasses. There is a TV that helped us keep up to date with the news, too! We kept the large window and door to the screened-in porch open so we could see the ocean and hear the waves hit the beach from the large comfortable bed. We particularly enjoyed the porch because it is ideal for reading, eating and/or relaxing. There is a small patio outside the porch with great chaises lounge chairs facing the ocean view.

How our repeat guests found Conch Shell / Nevis: Until recently we only advertised our luxury 1 or 2 bedroom CORAL REEF VILLA (HomeAway #187350 or #216701) which is privately located on almost an acre of spectacular mature gardens nearby. It is so popular that guests who wanted extra days stayed also at CONCH SHELL and often wanted to return to both places. Others discovered CORAL REEF/CONCH when they had stayed at resorts or other villas on Nevis, and after exploring, decided the Nisbet Beach location was the most beautiful, convenient (with the small resort beach side facilities), secluded enough and yet without being too isolated. Other guests had been on other islands and when they visited Nevis decided that the Nisbet area was where they wanted to stay. Nevisians are known for their friendly smiles and welcome to visitors. Nevis is special with only about 10,000 people, no high rise buildings (nothing taller than a palm tree allowed), no large cruise ships, no gambling.

My best friend and I spent one week at this cottage, and I knew I had to write a review on it as soon as I got back. The Conch Shell Cottage is located right near the beach with private access to the beach right from the cottage. The place is very well kept with twice a week cleaning and laundry, and was equipped with everything necessary for my stay. It's quiet, scenic, and has an amazing breeze that can be felt at all hours. Internet and cable tv worked perfectly, and we didn't experience any power outages. The owner, Jane Paul, is very kind, informative, and professional. From landing in St. Kitts to getting in at Nevis, everything was flawless. We ate at the Nesbit plantation most of the time ( a short walk), and enjoyed the food and dancing at the Thursday Night BBQ. We will definitely return to this sweet little oasis in the future! Thank you, Jane!

Oh my goodness. We just got home and I immediately had to post a review of Conch Shell Cottage. My husband and I came here to retreat from the cold of Berlin, Germany and what a retreat it was!! From the time we arrived at St. Kitts to the time we arrived at Conch Shell, everything went so flawlessly. I realized then how valuable having all this arranged for us was. We rented a car from Marlon (HIGHLY recommended) and his wife was at the house with our car waiting for us along with Bonnie who was very sweet. Even though the place is very small, it was perfect for my husband and me. I loved that the house was cleaned twice while we were there. All we did all day every day was go discover a different (desolate!) beach on the island. Our favorite was Lovers Beach near the airport. Also, got a massage at Nisbet Plantation and it was magical :) Definitely go to the bbq at Nisbet on Thursday. Pricy (abt 65 per person) but delicious and fun to get the island experience. If you are looking for a vacation that is quiet and relaxing, come here!!!

Best Vacation Ever!

We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary by falling in love with Nevis & Conch Shell Cottage! The simplicity of life on the island is extremely relaxing and restful, and Jane is one of the best hostesses we've ever had the pleasure of doing business with. I appreciated her detailed communication and the way she checked in with us upon arrival and departure.

The cottage was perfect as we were seeking beach front privacy away from typical tourist activity. The wifi was down the first two days, but Bonnie took care of it ASAP and was helpful anytime we had questions. Marlon was also great and his tour was delightful. Janette took great care of cleaning and putting out fresh flowers, and although we never met the gardner we can tell he's quite talented!

Other than reserving the cottage, air travel, and vehicle rental, we planned nothing ahead of time. We found plenty to keep us occupied and still had time of lots of sun and rest. Of course with a 5:15 sunrise, the days stretch out forever!

We had one day of steady rain and one short power outage, but no complaints about mandatory napping and complete laziness!

We want to come back with our kids to show them what life is really supposed to be like-- slower paced, stress free, and happy!

Lovely

A lovely setting for a serene vacation! I found the beach, cottage and island beautiful and clean. I spent happy hours on the porch, as it was perfect for enjoying the sound of the waves while reading. I often looked up from my book to sigh with pleasure as I watched the leaves of the coconut palms move with the Christmas winds. The carefully tended yard bloomed with oleander and ixora, inviting the hummingbirds to dine. In the late afternoon, I reclined on a lounge chair in front of the cottage, as the shade from the house made this spot safe for my sensitive skin. A sun baby might have pulled the chair a little further into the yard at that time, but I was very pleased with the placement.

The U.S. style outlets and current were convenient. The wireless internet worked flawlessly. The microwave, cookware and utensils suited me. The refrigerator was small, but still bigger than I needed for a week's provisions.

On small islands, I typically expect multiple power outages, but I only experienced one during the week. It occurred during daytime and was brief, so it was not an inconvenience. However, had it occurred during night, there were battery-powered lanterns! The stove was not electric, so I could still cook without power, if necessary.

The cottage suited this solo traveler ideally with everything needed and felt VERY SAFE. In the guestbook, I read that several very loving couples enjoyed it together. I'll look at Jane's other cottages in the neighborhood when I want to bring another person, as I might need a bit more space when sharing. The neighborhood was quiet and the houses set graciously apart to provide privacy.

Jane was an admirable hostess! Thanks, Jane!

Recommendations:
Rent a car from Marlon Brando. Also, take his tour of the island, as you will find it useful to help orient yourself.

For groceries, I preferred the IGA over the Best Buy. Try the Peardrella soft drink! Buy fruit at Mansa's. You can buy fresh bread at the nearby gas station, if you take the main road to the left of the cottage.

Sunshine's provided the best meal of red snapper! However, if you don't like LOTS of dressing on the salad, ask for it on the side.

Make the effort to go to Golden Rock to see the gardens and enjoy a lunch with a spectacular view. The lunch seemed rather refined for outdoor dining -- subtle, pleasing flavors.

The Botanical Gardens and Oasis Thai restaurant provided a nice, though more pricey, outing.

Nisbet Beach area is away from the hustle and bustle of any town and it's always with a happy feeling of homecoming to return to our special spectacular ocean views and refreshing breeze. The trade wind breezes are a special blessing in the Caribbean where they almost constantly blow and have a cooling effect which off sets the average temperature in Nevis which is usually in the low to mid 80's. The trade winds keep the palm fronds rustling and swaying and are a soothing feature, especially on our side of Nevis which is in the perfect location to get the maximum benefit from the trade winds coming from the North East. No need for anything other than quality ceiling fan and a dip in the sea where the temperature stays about 82 degrees.
