My family, who has had a decade-long love affair with sleepy Topsail Island, searched high and low for the perfect beach house here. As soon as we crossed the threshold of this 7-bedroom, 6.5 bathroom home in Surf City, we knew we’d found it.
So, what drew us to our “Jewel of the Isle”?
We love that it feels breezy, open, and expansive. Huge windows let in beams of North Carolina sun and views of the glittering blue green sea. In fact, there’s a water view, of either the ocean or the sound, in every single room of the house.
Plus the layout—with three floors, including a big, bright, lofted living area—provides plenty of room (the space is perfect for our large family—we bet it would be for yours, too!). The outdoor space also took our breath away, with its multilevel decks, sparkling, private swimming pool, and a hot tub on the second-floor deck, where you can watch rolling waves, leaping dolphins, and the occasional shrimp boat passing through. It’s also a great spot in evening, with the ocean bathed in the orange and pink hues of sunset.
And we loved the house’s one-of-a-kind architectural elements, like the ship watch perched on top of the house—its four windowed walls, one at each compass point, give an unparalleled view of the Atlantic and the sound. We decided this room would be best as a bedroom and outfitted it with a queen-sized bed. Just a warning: your group may fight over claim to this unique, fourth-floor sleeping space!
The third-floor living area has sweeping ocean views, and features a grouping of comfortable sofas and chairs, plus eating space for a whopping 16 people (with a breakfast nook, formal dining area, and bar stools in one common area)—all on top of glossy, Brazilian cherry wood floors.
The kitchen is a chef’s dream in stainless steel, granite counter tops, and spacious cabinetry, plus a breakfast bar with 4 bar stools. Pour a few glasses of wine and keep the cook company!
Add an elevator to make hauling your luggage easy, two king-sized master suites with ocean views and attached baths (one with a Jacuzzi tub), three more bedrooms with their own en suite baths, a kid’s bedroom with two twin trundle beds, flat-screen televisions in every single bedrooms, a laundry room, linen service in peak season, and a day dock for boat rentals, and you have one perfect beach house to call yours for a week.
Our guests are as consistently pleased with this house as we are—in fact, we often hear that it exceeds even their high expectations! We hope to count you among our happy guests.
