Hollywood Vacation Rental house

We were told about this place by some friends who stayed here.

Wow! What's the best way to describe our stay at Villa Selene?

It's like staying in a Tuscan or Greek island cottage that was owned by friends, who have really great taste!

The neighborhood is straight out of a movie like L.A. Confidential or Chinatown, We're talking really cool period houses, a great national park for jogging and hiking and the stunning area north of Los Feliz Blvd.

When you first arrive, You can't see the guest house from the street because it overlooks the garden in the back of the property. The whole thing is gated like a little compound. There was never a parking problem, we always parked right in front of the house.

The place itself is very well maintained, the furniture is beautiful, the place is super clean and really quiet. This was key for us, because we like to sleep in. The living room has a gas fireplace, and light from windows everywhere.

Everything is high end. The (real) leather furniture that is super comfortable, but stylish. No floppy saggy, icky leatherette, here. Real art hangs on the wall including oil paintings and antique prints. The kitchen has been newly renovated and it is fully equipped with crystal glasses and Williams-Sonoma china, plus all the pots, pans and utensils that one would need to make dinner. There's a built in banquette with a table where you could eat or check your e-mail. The seats are padded. so its super comfortable. There's a desk too, but that's not as comfortable as the banquette. The built-in bookshelves overflow with books that are so varied and interesting, everyone is guaranteed to find something they like.
The bedroom has a great comfy queen bed & mattress with 400+TC sheets that I had trouble leaving. My husband loved the large flat screen TV and I loved the slippers and soft cotton bathrobe that felt better than the one at the W Hotel.

The bathroom has a vintage tub which is nice and deep and long, which made soaking in a relaxing treat. Plus the fluffy towels!!!
We called Katerina on the phone if we needed something. She was always really nice and helpful. We never saw her, even though she lives in the main house. We'll stay here when we visit L.A. You can walk to the market and to great places to eat on Vermont Ave and Hillhurst Ave. Plus it is really convenient to all the attractions and freeways. I really hope too many people don't find out about this place....
