Hopefully you won't have something break on you!

plunger Mesa, AZ
Review Submitted: October 19, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
This cabin was okay for the price we paid. The bathroom and kitchen look nice, although we had ants all over our food that was left on the counter overnight. But that is typical for a cabin. And the kitchen was not stocked with much (no napkins or paper towels or spices; and there was no garbage.) The TV in the family room was very nice. The bed was okay; no top sheet which I thought was weird, and the sheet looked slept in. The throw rugs were very dirty and had animal hairs on them; we just avoided walking on them. The furniture is old and not very comfortable.

I enjoyed the view, and the cabin would have been satisfactory for us (since we were just there for two days) if it hadn't been for one other problem: The toilet had been sluggish both days we were there. As we were leaving out the door I tried flushing it one last time and it overflowed. It was mainly just clean water. I grabbed some towels so that it wouldn't soak underneath the walls. (They should have thanked me for that!) There was no plunger. There was nothing else I could do, and it certainly wasn't my fault. The owner refused to give me back the cleaning down payment, which I thought was very unbusiness-like of him. I left the cabin exactly the way we found it--we didn't even use the kitchen because I didn't like the look of the dishes--but since the toilet overflowed on me then he basically made me pay for it.
So the cabin is okay if comfort and cleanliness aren't real important to you, and if you don't mind having to pay for something that breaks down on you. I won't ever go back there. The cabin is up for sale so maybe the owner doesn't really care about satisfying his customers.

Lovely Time.

Review Submitted: October 12, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
I I went there with my family, 2 adults, 2 children and our dog. We really enjoyed out time there, it was perfect for our kids to experience a home that is surrounded by greenery and a bit of wildlife. We enjoyed our hikes, as much as the time spent together in the back yard. As a mother, I thought the kitchen was suitably equipped for the time we spent there. It was clean and fairly modern. I hope you will get to enjoy it as much as we did.

Miserable experience

Frostbite Los Angeles
Review Submitted: April 24, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
I was one of three guests who stayed in this cabin. On the first night, central heater quit working and the outside temp dropped to 22 degrees. We used up our supply of firewood quickly. By morning, the temp inside the cabin had dropped to 50. We were told by the owner that it was our fault for not bringing enough firewood. He refused to refund the rent for our first frigid night's stay. We left the next morning because it was too cold to stay. We were refunded our second night's stay after intervention by the management company.
Also, the cabin was not clean upon arrival. There were ashes on the living room floor around the fireplace, and the dishes were dirty.
The bed linens did not smell clean, and there were no top sheets, just comforters. There was only one towel in the bathroom for three guests.
Owner's Response: I am writing in response to an unfortunate incident which
occurred with one of our guests. While staying in our
mountain cabin the heater pilot blew out and the guest
got cold. I was called @7:20 A.M. and called back @ 7:30
A.M. to advise him on how to turn the heater back on.

They gues not only did not answer my call (wherein I would
have given him the phone number for our maintenance man
up there) but left of his own volition. When contacted later
on that day I passed on his complaint to the owner directly.
The guest used threatening language and offended what is
a very kind and calm owner.

The guest was refunded his two day rental and left my
office satisfied that it was an unfortunate accident that the
heater went out. Two weeks later his letter was sent in.

Obviously it was a case of sour grapes and we assure our
guests that we clean the unit after every visitor and make
every effort to help their vacation be an enjoyable experience.
