"Hi Mary, We are now (home) in Spain. This email is only to say to you that our time in Knocklong was marvellous. You have a lovely home. Thanks and I hope that the "hierbabuena" (Spainish'name) will grow up in your garden. It's an aromatic plant typical of the south of Spain that we had left in your kitchen..."
What a wonderful cottage. Perfectly maintained with everything a family needs. Ideally located we made day trips to most parts of Ireland, and it was relaxing to come back to this wonderfully maintained home. No stress from meeting a time to eat or get going, nice pub in town and easy access to all roads. Will stay here again if we can.
Choosing a place to stay for my first trip to Ireland was easy, I knew right away that this was the cottage to book. My daughter and her girlfriend used it not just once, but twice in three years. The first time for a month and the following for three weeks. My stay was a bit shorter. The home is so charming and is what you would think of as a traditional Irish Cottage. It is very clean, spacious, with beautiful gardens and a nice quiet back yard. It is set on a quiet cul-de-sac making it safe if you have young children. After a long day of sightseeing it was great to come back to the cottage, make dinner and sit by the fireplace and just relax. There is a ruin nearby that was fun to explore!! I would recommend this cottage to anyone visiting Ireland.
Overall, we loved our stay at the cottage. It is in a beautiful location, very quiet and it was so easy to do day trips all over central and western Ireland. The cottage is wonderful for larger parties and very comfortable.
I would recommend this for anyone looking for a nice place to homebase while in Ireland.
We loved our stay in this beautiful cottage. It was exactly what we expected. Very well maintained and very clean.
The loft had a gorgeous view.
We enjoyed lighting a fire every night and planning the next days excursions.
This was a wonderful base for touring. We went to Blarney Castle, Bunratty Castle, Cahir Castle and Killarney National Park. And also Galway.
The caretakers were lovely and were happy to help if we needed anything.
The town did not have much for restaurants and such. But the nearby town had everything we needed.
We had a wonderful trip and would definitely recommend this lovely cottage.
The Knight family
We had 6 people in our group and found that this cottage had plenty of room for all of us! It was very handy to have the sink in the loft room and the extra half bath--it wasn't bad sharing one shower. *Note about the shower-there is a cord by the sink that you have to pull to turn the shower on-kind of unexpected but good to know :) The location was wonderful for traveling around the middle and southern parts of Ireland. We had day trips to the Aran Islands, Ring of Kerry, Blarney castle, and Wicklow Mts. These were all full days but we were never back later than 9 pm. There were plenty of pots and pans and everything you would need while staying here. The last morning we went to the nearby ruins and cemetery which was one of my favorite parts--watch out though there is an electric fence around it!
We had a wonderful time here and I would recommend this cottage at Knocklong to everyone! We feel so lucky to have gotten to stay there and it added to our Ireland experience greatly.
This makes for the perfect base to explore south/central Ireland. Drive to Ring of Kerry, Dingle Peninsula, Cliffs of Moher/Burren, and Killkenny, all within 90 minutes. Cashel, Cahir, Cobh, Kinsale, Bunratty, Adare all much closer. The house is a great size, fantastic for family with children, good garden in which to play, located in a quiet neighborhood. Well appointed and comfortable with all the charms of a renovated old farm cottage. We highly recommend this place.
Many Popular Attractions within one hours drive. Historic and Heritage Sites, Ruins, Caves, Castles, Pubs, Restaurants, Golf, Scenic Drives, Horseback Riding, Fox hunting, Hiking, Fishing, Traditional Music Sessions, Gaelic matches (hurling and football), shopping.
