Davis Park Vacation Rental cottage

OMG! We had rented this house before several years ago and the owners have done a fabulous job with the renovations!They were very accommodating when we needed information on a few little things. This house is located in a wooded area, the decks had both shade/privacy and sun throughout the day. This is a VERY clean house and we left it the same.The washer/dryer is a "stacked" unit but worked perfectly. Neighbors are all very friendly and know EVERYTHING about the community. The wood floors have been refinished throughout the entire house and all of the beds/bedding were in excellent condition.
We liked the beach in this section as it was not as busy/crazy as the areas nearer the marina and town beach. It's only a few houses back: we'd take turns going back to the house to blend up another batch of margaritas and just bring the blender jar to the beach to refill glasses in minutes...absolute bliss! Really felt like we were living the high life!
I said "go back in time" as the house hasn't had too much done to it to lose that 1950s cabin feel. Most of the windows still have those old-style wood-frame screens in them and they were all in good repair and kept any mosquitoes out of the house. There are a LOT of windows in this house, open them all up and you get a nice breeze going through the place. The bathroom is smallish but worked fine. There's also an enclosed outdoor shower with a privacy blind. We liked that enough that we used that just about all the time, (we originally thought it was just to rinse off coming back from the beach.)
The little store in this community carries a lot of stuff and will order just about anything you need to arrive the next day. Prices are about average for a privately owned corner small grocery.
There are several mainland businesses that will take phone orders and put it on a ferry for you. We called "The Fish Store" one AM and had lobsters on the 3:30pm ferry that day. Liquor even! We then spent an hour in the bay (also only steps away) with the supplied clam rakes from the house. We didn't really know what we were doing but wound up with a few dozen clams for Clams Casino before we grilled the Lobsters. (found the recipe on the internet from the house right then!)
We did watch a bit of sports and movies on TV via the DirecTV dish on a rainy day.We did have to bring our own box,but the house has both a DirecTV and Dish Network dish as well as an old fashioned antenna that worked well.Cables were well marked.
