Additional information about rental rates

  • Security deposit varies with number of guests and pets. Misrepresentation will result in forfeiture.
  • Week runs Saturday 4:30 p.m. to Saturday 10:30 a.m. . Reservations up to 4 months prior to arrival date may be held with a deposit of $300. Within 4 months, a deposit of 50% of rental is payable on booking, balance including security deposit due 20 days prior to arrival. Depending upon number of persons and/or pets, and the condition in which the premises are left, an additional end-of-stay housekeeping fee may be deducted from the refundable security deposit. Please see also notes on 'Amenities' page.
    Cancellations: up to 30 days prior to arrival, 50% of deposit will be returned within 10 days, with balance of deposit returned IF/when property is rented to another party prior to 21 days before original arrival date.
    If pet(s) is/are in party, current rabies inoculation, heartworm & flea/tick medication is necessary, as well as properly trimmed nails. This is for the protection of your pet(s) and your security deposit.

Notes: THIS IS A NON SMOKING HOME Regarding wheelchair accessibility: There are two steps into the house at the front door and two steps in the house between the dining room and the Great Room. The ground floor bedroom (queen-sized bed) and ground floor full bath with walk-in shower are accessible for a standard-width wheelchair, or a walker. Enjoy the indoors: The well-equipped in the main house kitchen has a granite-topped island, and built-in table with upholstered benches in the breakfast nook. The 'Lighthouse Cottage' has a galley kitchen, with a stove and refrigerator, and prettily custom painted cabinets. The family sitting room contains lots of comfortable sofas and overstuffed chairs, as well as cushioned bench seating around it's perimeter looking out over Long Pond and the side gardens. Ther is also a table and seating for games or what you will. Off the spacious dining room, a Butler's pantry with a wine cooler. Cable TVs in all bedrooms in the main house, and in the sitting room of the 'lighthouse' cottage. There are Air conditioners and fans to dispel humidity, but most folks enjoy sleeping with the windows open to catch the breezes. Windows, windows, windows - a profusion of light. Lots and lots of books to read, DVDs to watch, games to play. Wireless Internet.

Play Outside: On Long Pond - kayak, paddle, swim, fish. Fishing rods and lures supplied - you'll need to get your own worms though. If you have a motor boat, a 9.9 hp engine is the MAX allowed on the pond. (As this is a private little beach, there are no lifeguards, and use of the pond is at visitors own risk.) Badminton net, racquet's and shuttlecocks are supplied, as is a set of golf clubs and a golf net for practicing. Two Kayaks and a peddle boat. A big gas grill. Beach toys, sand shovels and pails, beach balls, life jackets - all here for your enjoyment. Lawn and beach chairs, a hammock - what else? Look around, see what you find - play. At saltwater Craigville Beach, calm water, lifeguards, food, changing rooms and restrooms. Parking is $15. per day or buy a weekly sticker for $50. both available at attendant's booth.

So much to see and do - some suggestions ...: Barnstable: Go whale watching to see what 'AWESOME' really means. Lots to do, great fun in CHATHAM: vist the Lighthouse, stroll Main Street - catch a bite at 'The Chatham Squire' - a local favourite. HYANNIS: The Melody Tent - live 'Name' performers all summer long - Four Seas Ice Cream - the Best! The Cape Cod Mall and Main Street for shopping - Cinemas at the Mall too - and a Merry-Go-Round. SANDWICH: The Glass Museum - Heritage Museum and Gardens with it's Antique Car Collection, a working Windmill, Art, Military and Baseball musea, wonderful flower gardens - and a Merry-Go-Round. Walk around this quaint village and don't miss 'The Brown Jug', lunch and a glass of wine on the patio, or take a picnic to the banks of the Cape Cod Canal. Take a ferry to MARTHA'S VINEYARD or NANTUCKET- a bus tour to Oak Bluffs, see the community of colorful miniature Victorian houses - and a Merry-Go-Round. PLYMOUTH: 'America's Home Town' just over the bridge and up the road ...

Fantastic vacation property

We had a fantastic 2 week vacation at 100 Herring Run. The property was in meticulous condition and all the amentites needed for a large group of people were available. We had 9 adults and 8 children in our group and had plenty of space for all! The listing agent was very helpful in sending information on things to do in the area prior to our arrival and was there to great us when arrived. Our family has spent most summers renting on the Vineyard and were not sure how we would feel about the Cape. This location was perfect. The pond entertained the kids with the paddle boat and kayaks and swimming, even on the cloudy days. The ocean was minutes away as were all the conviences of shopping and dining. We will definetely return to this property!

Things are not always as they appear

Property #186664 is a nice house, with superb waterfront views and spacious living, both interior and exterior. Sadly, we found the house somewhat neglected by its owner, with undisclosed deficiencies which negatively impacted our vacation. The rental agent was difficult to deal with, so many of the issues which needed tending to or information that was lacking, were left to us to figure out or fix. As a rentor that issue was annoying at best and it left a bad taste. That is too bad because the setting is great (even if you prefer ocean to lake, the ocean is only a 10 minute bike ride away), and there is plenty of space and a great environment to entertain many people of all ages. Sometimes, attitutde is everything and for us the amount of energy required to get over a negative attitude of both owner and agent, was a spoiler.

We agree! Centerville Property 186664 is a great place for your vacation. Great location, big space, comfortable, laid back, kick-off-your-shoes Cape Cod.
It is interesting that the reviewer writes there were 'undisclosed deficiencies'. This is the sole guest to have acutally inspected the property before renting it. If a problem was pointed out, it was resolved immediately - a circuit breaker was reset and a hot water tank turned on, some lightbulbs were replaced. No prior guest(s) had mentioned these shortcomings, so they were 'undisclosed' to everybody!
The following were perceived by the reviewer to be issues:
The propane tank for the gas grill was 'empty' (half full) - we filled it up. The 'grill didn't light' - it was examined and found to work fine - even the electronic ignition. The grill rack was 'dirty', we burned off some char. The pots and pans were not clean "on the outsides" - they had been used before. There was 'no vacuum cleaner' - it was in a closet. The house was 'not clean' - a team came in and re-cleaned the entire premises (cleaned five days prior - by 6 people for 5 hours and then some - on 'turnover' day). There was 'no dish rack or rubber gloves' - there is a dishwasher. There was no cookie pan - there was no cookie pan.
A material issue was that the Sub-Zero refrigerator was not working properly, it was attended to and a new thermostat installed, as it turned out, what was needed was a new condenser. That matter has been resolved. Of course it was an inconvenience, but no-one's fault and there was and are another refrigerator on the premises, as well as cooling units in the butler's pantry.
As for the 'difficult agent' and the 'negative attitude' of the owner, judgements of that nature are entirely subjective and we are pleased to be able to say that the majority would differ.
The reviewing guests stayed at the house for three weeks, and it has been reported to the owners and the agent that when anyone (else) associated with the owners was present, they and their guests seemed to be having a really good time.
