I put some serious money into this place. This is not the typical flee bag.
There are three bathrooms. One downstairs with a shower, one upstairs with a shower, and the master bath has a jacuzzi tub (no shower). All four bedrooms are upstairs.
Great downtown location in a residential neighborhood just a few blocks from Vinoy Park Hotel, St. Pete Pier, St. Pete Marina, Bayfront Center, and Tropicana Field.
Completely remodeled. Hardwood floors, air conditioning, new kitchen including stainless steel appliances and granite countertops, three bathrooms (two showers).
Two LCD TVs and stereo system.
Wireless Internet throughout the home.
Perfect spot, nice home, very clean ... love the balcony for just hanging out. Kitchen well equiped, spacious. Cold AC. Walking/biking distance to downtown and area parks.
Every urban neighborhood has an occasional incident as described on a previous review, but this doesn't seem urban, though close to everything you need. Its relaxing, quiet- flat for walking and biking, never had a problem, there is a University nearby so it's a younger crowd. nice lake nearby with bike paths all around, and so close to walk to several bars, starbucks, walgreens, etc. though I would bike or get a ride if you want to go to the numerous downtown restaurants and bars. -we did walk to the Devil Rays baseball game with no problem. I've stayed there twice for several days and would recommend it for a group of 5-6, and would think about one night cooking in- great kitchen set up...just go to Farmers market downtown and have great cook in around the granite kitchen island or large dining room, seats 8 if i remember. With 5-6 people its less expensive than a motel. If you have a bike I'd recommend bringing it, it's a great way to sight see along the bay.
We had a great time in St Pete for a family members wedding. Location was in close proximety to a lot of different venues/restaurants/etc. The master bed was super comfortable and the house worked out great if you plan on cooking, although no outside grill. The first day we got their the ice cream truck was driving by and we of course had to eat some ice cream on the front deck with the kids! There were people walking all through out the day and night in the neighborhood, and we met some nice neighbors. The only negative for us was the somewhat run down neighborhood that this house is located in. We had no problems, but part of it is the perception when your driving into the neighborhood. Starbucks and the nail salon were in walking distance along with the convenience store and CVS. Worked great for our large family instead of staying at a hotel!
After staying here for the fourth time, we found the house to be kept maintained and clean as the first time. It is always a fun area to visit with the beach 20 minutes away and plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby.
We discovered a new place for us--the Mazarros Italian restaurant/store 2909 22nd Avenue N
The big house proved to be an excellent home base for our stay in St. Pete. Clean and well apportioned with good size rooms in a quite neighborhood. Lovely big kitchen and a big dining room allowed for group gatherings. Location was ideal for morning stops at Starbucks for coffee and evening walks to local restaurants.
The property was a very, very nice home. Seems to be an older house but do not get hung on the word *older* as it is very modern and up to date.
The bedrooms were large, we loved the hardwood, and the kitchen was great.
BUT -> the location was bad. We did not feel safe. I personally saw a fight happen as we were walking down the street and the cops were outside the house arresting someone at 3:00 AM on our 2nd night there.
Our waitress asked us where we were staying and when we told her she made a scrunched up nose like *really?* and then asked us for our thoughts....
She then proceeded to say it's a bad part of town.
SO: If you're tougher than we are and you are looking for a nice home... this is it. But we wouldn't recommend it without adding in the parts about not feeling safe and the poor location.
