We had probably overly high expectations of the cabin before we landed, as the pictures looked great and Caroline seemed so nice, but we were still pretty blown away with how great our stay was! The cabin is better than the photos, the couches are big and comfy and the kitchen is really great for cooking. They have everything you need to feel at home, little things like salt and pepper and a little cooking oil being handy when you want to fry up the fresh eggs that they shared from their chickens. And the cool evenings and morning were everything we were hoping for after a long day of great snorkeling at the fantastic beaches. Caroline and Scott are great and really go out of their way to make sure you have a great stay on the Big island... can't wait to go back!
This cabin is a gem! Secluded in the jungle, it is quaint, rustic, comfy, and absolutely delightful. We loved waking to sounds of tropical birds and the morning visit with a Kalij pheasant and his mate. The barbeque, lenai, deck, washer/dryer were icing on the cake. Scott and Caroline are perfect hosts with lots of helpful suggestions. We loved Kona, the snorkeling in the area is superb. We even saw whales from the beach! We would recommend this cabin with rave reviews - it was very hard to leave. We wish we could move the cabin to Montana!
There are very few places like this in the world and we feel quite lucky to have had the pleasure of staying there. We arrived to such a beautiful space in which to dream and revitalize. The location was wonderful, quiet and secluded, but easily accessible to everywhere you want to go on the Big Island. Scott and Caroline were wonderful, hospitable and informative without being intrusive. We appreciated the privacy you provided your guests. How lucky we were to have had such warm and genuine hosts. The tips you gave us were invaluable, much preferred over any guide book. And finally, we were thrilled having the sounds of chirping birds that woke us in the morning.
The kitchen was great and had everything we needed and we enjoyed barbecuing on the the patio. And one of the biggest pluses was the provided laundry machine.
Mahalo for the time, energy, and thought you put into setting up this Enchanted Hideaway. Staying here made for a very different and refreshing experience, so much better than the usual condo vacation. We hope to return within a few months. Thanks again. I wish we were still there.
We still can't believe our good fortune at finding this cabin. Quiet and charming, this cabin had everything we needed to relax and retreat from the bustle and heat of nearby Kona. Steve and Caroline were the perfect hosts and we highly recommend their hospitality.
This cabin exceeded our expectations. The location was ideal, close to Kona, but away from the crowded and busy tourist areas. This allows easy access to the city with quiet relaxing evenings.
The amenities, including a full kitchen, gas grill, satellite TV, and waher/dryer made us feel very comfortable and right at home.
Our favorite thing about this cabin was our wonderful hosts. Scott and Caroline went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. They were helpful in suggesting local places to go to find food and great snorkling spots. We are certain to stay at this cabin on our next trip to the big island.
If you'd like to be able to access the Big Island but relax away from the plastic 'condo' atmosphere and the rush of a tourist town, then this is it. Cool, private but only 10 min from Kona and 5 min from the highway circling Hawai'i.
The cabin was 'rustic' but had all the amenities including laundry. Barbeque on either of the large verandahs or snuggle up on the large sofas and wind down. We did.
Wake up to the morning birdsong.
The owners were very warm and helpful with practical suggestions for touring the Island, fishing, snorkeling...
Great walking/mountain biking tracks in the forest close to hand - a very enjoyable experience.
