Sanctuary:
We recommended that you visit the sanctuary daily if you are here to try and solve a health problem. We would appreciate your filling out our guest book with your illness and the results of your visit, or communicate it to us later. We like to follow up on any results you may have realized. There are no guarantees, but when you read the plaques in the little church at the sanctuary you realize hope is always there. The other famous sanctuary in Quebec city is about 70 miles away.
swimming, shopping & sightseeing, boat cruising:
You can swim behind the house or on Saint Quentin island ( 1 mile) where there is a nice public sandy beach with no current and a public swimming pool. Also on the island, there is a public golf course, a marina, sight seeing trails, boat watching (freighters), picnic area, restaurants and snack bars, and an area for kids for daily activities.
Daily boat cruises out of town along St. Lawrence river towards Montreal and/or Quebec city are spectacular and include fire works festivals
Within 1 mile from the house there are major grocery stores, liquor stores, Wal-Mart, Canadian Tire, restaurants and many other shopping malls.
fishing & national park:
Behind the house you can go down 75 steps to the river and fish for pickerel (walleye), perch, and carp. There is a variety of different fish in the Saint Lawrence river about 1 km away (charters are available at the marina on Saint Quentin island).
Fishing is available in the numerous lakes in the area. Beautiful scenic park de la Mauricie about 20 km in the Laurentian mountains. Plenty of activities there aside from fishing :)
For the avid fisherman, lake St.Pierre, part of St.Lawrence river, has a wide variety of fish, just 5 miles away.
In winter, 20 miles from here you may want to experience tommy cod fishing. There are ice huts and will fit up to 10 people in each hut. No licenses needed and no limit on the number of fish you can keep (up to 20 lines in each hut, unbelievable!!!).
