My girlfriend and I stayed her last weekend and found the place to be very clean, well maintained, and wonderful for a romantic getaway. The property is on a large compound with plenty of privacy and is very accessible to good eating and grocery options. The land has wonderful hiking available and the owners were very gracious and helpful. The listing represented the property well and I can't really think of anything that could be a complaint about the place.
My girlfriend and I liked it so much here we found it a fitting place to get engaged!
Thanks to the owners and I hope we'll be back again in warmer weather.
I've rented this cabin twice and of the various places I've stayed in Saugerties, it's my absolute favorite. Both times, I spent a long weekend roaming around the woods with my dog, cooking in the full kitchen, and enjoying the restaurants in Saugerties and Woodstock. The owners are located just through the trees but you won't know they're even there unless you need something -- in which case they come down immediately. I will certainly be back.
Everything was perfect. Nice sized cabin with everything you would need for a secluded stay. The surrounding woods and river were a blast to hike. Couldn't have asked for anything more. We will be coming back to stay here again.
The cabin is ample, ad its decoration is comfy and warm. It has everything you may need to have a wonderful, secluded weekend in the woods. The owners were welcoming and showed us where to hike (there are ruins and a lovely creek close by). Upon our arrival, a possum was passing by to say hello! Hehe. There is a lot of nature and life around you, and it is great to spend some time next to the fire watching the chipmunks play, and listening to the crickets and cicadas sing.
Since we went in Fall, the colors were amazing out there, and there were no bugs. We set up a hammock close to the fire, and spent wonderful time relaxing and sipping wine.
The cabin is also very close to town, so you can get all you need from the local stores to make your stay even better. Close to town, but at the same time secluded. Just wonderful!
The only thing I didn't like about the cabin was the soapy water from the tap. It is a great idea to bring your own drinking water. Other than this, this cabin is the best place to be if you want to scape the city.
This home in the woods was a perfect place to chill, to hike, to play music, to write, to create. I can see how "The Band" and "Dylan" and "Van Morrison"etc., had made this area their homes.
The owners couldn't have been nicer and I hope to return next summer. Thanks folks!
As many people have already pointed out, the photos don't do the cabin justice. It was very spacious inside for 4 adults, a 2yr old and a dog. Very close to downtown Saugerties but still situated in the woods enough to be away from it all when we were relaxing at the cabin. Nearby fishing on the property was a great bonus, though the water was still cold in June for swimming. Fire pit in the backyard provided a perfect setting for making smores!
Only 2 minor drawbacks to note: the gas grill wasn't working properly when we went to use it, but we just improvised and grilled over the fire pit. Also we wound up bringing home a number of ticks inside a bag that never was outside the house other than to bring it into the kitchen on the day we arrived/and theb back into the car on the day we left, so we made sure to follow up with the owner about checking out if there was maybe a tick problem somewhere inside the kitchen area of the house.
In all, we had a lovely weekend and would consider renting again (there's too much to see and do in just 1 weekend around that part of the Catskills), as well as recommending it to friends.
