good location but lots of repairs needed

This house has a ideal location:close to beach and shops. It would have been perfect if not so many repairs were needed.( leaking and broken toilet, broken steps going to upstairs deck, bathroom sink came off of the wall, and the grill looked as if it had not been cleaned in at least a year) These were the main items that needed attention let alone some smaller items as well that were not mentioned on this review.

Owner's Response: As an owner I visit this house at the conclusion of each rental to make sure that everything is spotless and in order. When unforeseen things happen, I make sure that they are attended to promptly .
This family came to me with two problems: a leaky toilet valve and a problem with the steps on the deck. I immediately met the tenants at the property, made the necessary repair to the steps, and called a plumber to come in and install a brand new toilet. Later in the week I received a call that the bathroom sink had broken. I apologized profusely and sent the plumber over to fix the sink. The tenant admitted to the plumber that they had been “leaning” on the sink and it had broken.
I have concluded that these people were interested in one thing; complaining in an attempt to get money back from me. I am not sure if this is what they do to other owners, but it seems curious to me that in my three years of renting this home they are the only people that have ever had a problem.
Even after promptly repairing each problem I tried appeasing them by refunding some of the rent, but apparently the dollar amount was not enough. I also, due to their neglect, made two trips back to the house to retrieve personal belongings that the had left behind.
I could go on and on, but I think I can sum it up with this; one of their other complaints was about a light bulb that had blown out in the kitchen. Although I have a closet stocked with light bulbs they did not feel that they should have to change it themselves. I guess it is true that there is just no pleasing some people.
