We bought the house in 2002 and have spent every summer and many school holidays here with our four children, family and friends. The village is full of character and ideally located for exploring this beautiful part of southern France.

Sarah Stephenson purchased this house in 2002

We love this part of France and with easy links to the UK and the rest of Europe it is perfect for short breaks or longer holidays. Cycling in the vinyards followed by a trip to the two wineries just up the road is a great way to get a feel for the area.

The house is in the centre of the old part of the village and a very tranquil spot. In the evening swifts and swallows fly into the barn. The house is fill of character and beautifully cool inside during the heat of high summer.

A RELAXED HAVEN

  • 5 of 5
We have stayed in this beautiful property many times over the years and it never ceases to impress. It is tastefully furnished and the attention to detail is second to none. We were particularly impressed this year with the newly converted outside seating area. It enhances the property no end with its comfortable and attractive furniture; a shady area during the day and a sheltered cozy haven at night. We would highly recommend this stunning house as a retreat from every day life.

PEACEFUL HOLIDAY IN BOURDIC

  • 4 of 5
We stayed here for a week in late September. With only four adults and one child, we had ample choice of bedrooms. There are three bedrooms on the first level and one bathroom, with one bedroom leading into the second one.

The third level has a large domitory style bedroom and another bedroom which contains an open-plan second bathroom.

We all slept on the first level and our friends used the bathroom on that level, while my husband, daughter and I used the bathroom on the second level.

The house is clean and comfortably furnished and it was very easy to self-cater with a couple of supermarkets 15 minutes away by car. The kitchen had everything we could need.

Bourdic itself is small and quiet but there are a number of villages a short drive away, which are well worth the visit. Uzes is 15 minutes away and full of shops and restaurants. A baker does the rounds between 9am and 10am if you don't want to get up and drive to one of the surrounding villages for croissants and bread.

Our daughter enjoyed the pool although it was a bit cold at the end of September for the rest of us. There was also a table tennis table in an old barn that we used a lot. The bikes were a nice touch.

It would particularly suit a family where the older kids could sleep upstairs with the adults on the lower level. The bathroom on the top floor is part of one of the bedrooms on that level and is separated from the dormitory room by a curtain so would be best for people who know each other really well!

We had a great time and I would recommend the house. Looking at the pictures online, I feel quite nostalgic!

Notes:
The barn is ideal for indoor football and tennis. There is also a large table tennis table and indoor cricket pitch. It is a barn and can get dusty but we will endeavor to sweep it out frequently. The lower part of the barn is used for storage and firewood for the winter. There are a selection of pool toys, indoor games, DVDs and books. The house is in a village and subsequently there may be some noise from the odd tractor but traffic is limited in the road adjacent to the house. A neighbor owns the olive grove adjacent to the property and may sometimes hang out her washing but she is very unobtrusive.
