Because it is in a great location in London. Our house in Tufnell Park nestles between Highgate Village & Camden Town. We border the boroughs of Camden & Islington. Ideally located for the West End of London & the South Bank as well as the main highway route A1, M1 & M11 for the M25. There is a tube station within minutes walking distance from the house as well as bus stop for Oxford Street or Nottinghill. Tufnell Park is very well situated for the centre of London. it is safe to walk back from the tube anytime & the area is well lit at night, it is also close enough to come home after a day out to freshen-up & have a rest before going out again for an evening out.

The Tufnell Park tube station is on the 'Northern Line' there is a ticket office for information & there is a lift to the platform.

Its a great location. We rented this property before we purchased it in 1984. Our children attended St Josephs School in Highgate & we worked in the city. The house was perfect for a busy family then. Tufnell Park is a safe neighbourhood in London with easy 10 minute access to the west end and the city, also very popular for Westminster. Hampstead Heath is my favourite place in London & a good 15 minute run or leisuerly 25 minute walk away. it is a wonderful place for picnic lunches or supper, especially at the open air concerts in August, there is tennis courts a running track as well as a visiting fun fair a few times a year. Three open air swimming ponds including a 'woman only' men only' and communal swimming pond as well as a Lido for everyone to swim in. I have probably spent most of my leisure time in London visiting Hampstead Heath; when my children were very young I took them there to the adventure play ground & toddlers paddling pool regularly. As my children were growing-up they joined 'The Pirates Castle Club' in Camden Town, they learned to canoe there along the Camden Regents Canal, Camden Town is within walking distance from the house & if you dont like walking there is the bus or the tube a few minutes away, happy days. Nowadays; we still spend a lot of time on Hampstead Heath & we use the tube or bus for getting around London, it is easy, fast & no need for a car or searching for a parking space. We can purchase parking vouchers for guests who do wish to park outside the property. Please let us know in advance of arrival.

VISIT LONDON WHILE LIVING AS A RESIDENT

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I spent a wonderful week at Catherine's flat, living like residents instead of hotel guests. The flat was very clean and provided an abundance of amenities. It is located a quick 5 minute walk from the Tube station (within the usual Zone 1-2 area) on the Northern Line, with frequent service throughout the day and evening. Bus line #4 also runs right in front of the flat.

Several good restaurants are found near the flat (we particularly liked the Spaghetti House) and there is a well-stocked convenience store across from the Tube station, in addition to other stores near-by.

We cooked several meals in the flat, making good use of all the cooking utensils and appliances. The bed was very comfortable and we was plenty of hot water for very long showers after a full day of exploration. Wireless internet and phone service were excellent.

There was very little street noise from traffic during the day, and essentially none at night. We were awakened each day by birds chirping in the back garden.

The only caution would be that people who have difficulty walking might have some trouble going up/down the few narrow stone stairs leading from the street down to the flat's front door. For everyone else, no problems.

Check-in time is around 3 pm. If you get into London earlier, consider leaving your luggage with the Paddington Station Left Luggage service and doing a bit of touring until time to check in. Cab fare from Paddington to the flat is about 20 pounds or you could just use the Tube.

I highly recommend this flat as a great home base for touring London. It is well located, very homey, and Catherine takes very good care of her guests.

A DREAM STAY - TRULY HOME AWAY FROM HOME!

  • 5 of 5
Our flat in Islington surpassed our expectations - from the correspondence with Catherine (the property owner) to the stocked refrigerator, the tour and introduction to the property, the written binder that detailed options for visiting while in London, a wonderful library - even a bowl filled with fresh Clementines! It was both immaculate and charming, and Catherine made us feel at home from the moment we met. This gem is an easy walk from the tube, and provides an "insider" look at London. Highly recommend this property, and look forward to a future stay!

CLEAN, COZY FLAT IN A SAFE NEIGHBORHOOD, AWAY FROM THE NOISE OF THE CITY.

  • 5 of 5
We feel so fortunate to have found Catherine's lovely flat in Islington. When we arrived, she met us at the apartment and had perfectly ripe strawberries and clotted cream as well as excellent Italian coffee, other treats, and fresh flowers to welcome us. She was attentive to details throughout the course of our stay. We were traveling with our college-age daughter, and the flat was perfectly set up for that. She was able to sleep in the front room on the futon, which she found to be very comfortable. Our bed was also comfortable. The kitchen, while quite small, was incredibly well stocked. We made dinner a couple of times during our stay, and we found everything that we needed. We liked being able to eat breakfast at the flat and being able to pack lunches. It's not that we didn't try London's pub grub or Indian food, but it was nice to not have to eat out for every single meal. It was also nice to come "home" to a quiet place after exploring the bustling city. The flat is located within an easy walk to the Tufnell Park Underground station on the Northern Line. It is in Zone 2, which makes it convenient to all the popular sights. You can buy a one week Underground pass, which gives you unlimited rides for a week on the tube. This was great because we never felt inhibited about taking multiple journeys on a single day. One night we arrived back at Tufnell Park around 11:30 pm, and I felt quite safe walking back to the flat. There is a neighborhood grocery store, Budgens, which is just a couple of blocks away. They had a big enough selection that we didn't feel the need to go anywhere else. The flat was immaculate! I am very much a clean freak, and even I was impressed by how clean everything was in all areas of the house . . . bathroom, kitchen, and bedroom. Before I met Catherine, I was nervous about all the unknowns of a VRBO, but she is truly a gem and made our stay wonderful. She also returned our deposit promptly. I would definitely recommend this property to friends and would stay there again if we were to return to London.

A GREAT PLACE TO STAY

  • 5 of 5
We had four adults (two couples) staying and this accommodation suited our needs very well. Catherine was a great hostess who had set the place up with lovely fresh flowers and stick the kitchen fridge and pantry for our arrival. This was very welcome as it meant we didnt have to rush off to the local supermarkets etc. although these were nearby in walking distance as well. The property was very clean and was exactly as was advertised. We enjoyed the easy access to the buses and tube station. This meant we could visit the BIG CITY and come easily for a rest before going back again or just enjoy the local London neighborhood. We thoroughly enjoyed our easy walk to Hampstead Heath. It was great to capture a little of London by living in a residential neighborhood and still be able to go easily into the city. Thanks for everything Catherine. We will definitely recommend this property to anyone visiting London and we hope to return in the future to stay here again.
