The Stoddard house is as rich in history as it is in appearance. Built in 1898, this classic two behouse retains it's original grandeur with mature gardens, vaulted ceilings throughout, double parlor and Red Fir floors. Not your average vacation rental, this house is exceptional in every way. The attention to detail and quality will be a memorable part of you wine country experience. Among the homes cache of treasures is are bouquets of glass flowers suspended form chandeliers, and an eclectic mix of over one hundred years of chic include contemporary, Asian, Victorian and Art Deco furniture and fixtures. Settle in with a book in the library, soak up the sumptuousness in a bath, unwind outside in the gazebo with a glass of Napa Valley bubbly or meet in the parlor and revisit the pleasures of conversation.

Guestbook comments from the manager

The house is a perfect place to relax and share time with family. Everything that we could possibly wish for is here and the access to Napa and the lovely region is perfect. We enjoyed a day on the wine train, visits to some small wineries, and side trips to Oakland and San Francisco. What a wonderful week and always nice to return to this gorgeous home.

cute place in an excellent location

My family and I stayed here over Thanksgiving holiday. Everything went smoothly. Spacious and well appointed. Close to downtown Napan and the Outlet Shopping Center. Only complaint is the linens and towels are worn out and should be replaced.

Lovely home in Napa - but needs a bit of TLC

  • 4 of 5

Had a nice stay at the Stoddard house last week, and really appreciated the ability to walk around Napa without getting in a car. The home is beautiful (kitchen is a bit small and outdated so consider this if you plan to do some cooking), but the outdoor areas (especially the gardens) need some TLC. Unfortunately they weren't in good enough shape to enjoy the back patio or front porch despite the perfect weather, but hopefully they will be taken care of soon.

Perfect for a weekend (or more) in Napa

  • 5 of 5

Stoddard House was a perfect base for our weekend trip to Napa wine country. It is a charming place, a few minutes walk/drive to downtown Napa with its restaurants and the "must visit" Oxbow market. Add to that, it's close to the highway making all the other wonderful towns around (Yountville, St. Helena, Calistoga) easily accessible.

The house is extremely spacious with two large living spaces, kitchen, dining room and a breakfast nook. Two large bedrooms slept four of us comfortably. The house only has one bathroom but it was well stocked with all the basics. An unexpected bonus was the beautiful courtyard at the back, complete with chairs and loungers - wonderful to sit out and relax with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine.

The logistics and arrangements were easily made via email and Jason was extremely responsive to my questions and requests. While we were there, we had an issue connecting to WiFi and he immediately offered to come out and fix it. We made it work without him having to make the trip but his willingness to come out on a Saturday night was appreciated.

We spent a packed two days in Napa visiting various wineries but the two stand-outs were Goosecross (a small batch producer) and Robert Sinsky (organic, sustainable). We also went to Bouchon Bakery in Yountville and had a wonderful breakfast/brunch. For dinner, Napa Valley Bistro and if you're in the mood for a splurge, Morimoto are just fabulous. And after dinner, we had Stoddard House to come back to for a relaxing, restful night's sleep.

Stoddard House added to our wonderful Napa experience and we would want to stay again during our next visit.

Beautifully appointed home - short walk to downtown Napa

  • 5 of 5

What a great find the Stoddard house was! We had two couples and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The home is much larger than VRBO web site portrays it, and professionally appointed! The house has been wonderfully restored and in great shape. We were a bit concerned with only one bathroom, but it worked out fine. The bathroom is not connected to either bedroom so easy to access for both couples. Both bedrooms were spacious and classy. The patio outside is a wonderful spot to enjoy cup of coffee in the morning or a cigar and wine in the evening - quiet enclave, very peaceful. Downtown is 5-10 minute walk, right past the Wine Spectator headquarters (in a large home.) Alexis Baking Company is superb for breakfast. We had one issue upon arrival and it was addressed promptly and to our satisfaction. This will be our spot to return to when we come to Napa!

Absolutely Charming!

  • 5 of 5

I can't recommend The Stoddard House more! It is absolutely the most beautiful and charming house!

We came to Stoddard for a long girls weekend in Napa and we couldn't have been more thrilled with our choice to stay here. If its possible, the house is more beautiful in real life than it is in pictures. The house is huge! Absolutely the best space for four people sharing a magical weekend. None of us ever felt cramped like we would have in a hotel room. The house is bright and airy and the gardens are just so beautiful even early spring when the flowers we just starting to bloom. It was a little chilly one afternoon but we couldn't resist setting up a little picnic outside in the gazebo because it was just so magical.

Every year a group of us girls choose a new place to share a weekend together, and after our amazing weekend at Stoddard, I think we have all decided that this is the only place we will now be visiting year after year.
