Truckee. Within 5-20 minutes of many of Tahoe’s finest ski resorts; Squaw Valley, Northstar, Alpine Meadows, Sugar Bowl, Donner Ski Ranch, Boreal, and Royal Gorge Nordic Ski Center. Easy access to everything! This townhome is located across the street from Donner Lake and has a private beach with gazebo and boat dock. Just a couple miles from Downtown It faces south and gets tons of sun all through the day. We have equipped the unit with a 50' Big Screen TV, DVD player, and Playstation II with an assortment of games and movies. We also have high speed wireless internet in the unit and free long distance calls within the US. The three bedrooms are downstairs with two full baths and a laundry room with full sized washer and dryer. The master has a King size bed, the guest room has a queen sized bed, and the bunk room has two sets of bunk beds. The living room sofa also pulls out into a queen size bed.

The historical town of Truckee is a short 5 min. drive, with river rafting on the world-famous Truckee River and the Donner Memorial museum! Wide trail ranges- from beginning to skilled hiking and biking. 2 Championship Golf courses within close range. Centrally located, visitors can also take longer trips to Reno (45 min.) for a show, California's Gold Country for history and maybe some gold panning, or Lake Tahoe to name a few! Lake Tahoe is close- Approx. 35 minutes from North Shore and 90 minutes from South Lake Tahoe's shows, skiing, and other attractions.

The rental unit itself was fine, although not quite as represented. We arrived to a large broken bathroom mirror on the front landing, and over the course of our stay learned the phone and internet did not work and the dryer was broken (discovered only after doing a load of laundry). Otherwise the place was fine, and normally these things would not be an issue for us. However, the owner breached his own contract by holding onto our security deposit beyond the time specified in his contract. When I tried to reach him via email and phone, he was unresponsive (although very responsive when it came to taking my payment initially) so I notified HomeAway. Only then did he refund the deposit in full, with no explanation or apology for the delay.

I’ve rented other places through this site and always had a positive experience with owners who were responsive and quick to refund the security deposit. As a result of our experience, I can’t recommend doing business with this property owner.
Owner's Response: First of all our unit is exactly as represented. Secondly, I have no idea who the person is who wrote this review. Who ever this made no attempt to contact me in regards to the internet or any issues they had. The dryer did have a malfunction in September, however as simple phone call to tell me of the problem and I could have had it fixed and usable imediately. It appears they switched some cables around to the modem so that the "input" singnal was going into a "output" jack in the modem. Since the phone is VOIP this did not work either. The only time I have ever had an issue with a security deposit is when a credit card had been canceled someones email address changes. Regardless I ALWAYS return security deposits .
