WINTER AT THE COTTAGE: The Cottage is a peaceful and serene getaway, yet provides convenient access to a wide variety of activities. Privately set back off the road, and nestled on 13 wooded acres, the Cottage offers the opportunity to really get away from it all - without leaving behind the luxuries of home.
In the Winter, alpine skiing and snowboarding are just 6 miles away at Whiteface Mountain - home of the 1980 Winter Olympics. Or you may choose to snowshoe or cross country ski - both of which can be done right on the property, or on nearby trails. There's also bobsled rides, ice skating on the Olympic Oval, snowmobiling, dog sled rides, and the toboggan chute on Mirror Lake in Lake Placid. If you have little ones with you, they may enjoy a visit to Santa's Workshop - just 5 minutes away. Or you may prefer staying inside, and enjoying some quiet time by the fireplace. The Cottage comes equipped with plenty of books and games for all ages, as well as a selection of DVDs to keep you entertained.
SPRING and SUMMER AT THE COTTAGE: The AuSable River — just minutes from the Cottage — is well-known for its fly-fishing in the Springtime! Spring also marks the opening of many nearby world-class golf courses. And when Summer comes, there's kayaking, canoeing, rafting, water-skiing, swimming, biking, skating, horseback riding, hiking, rock-climbing, free outdoor concerts at the beach, and the list goes on....The Jay Covered Bridge and the Jay Rapids are a 5 minute drive, while Lake Placid and Mirror Lake are just 16 miles from the Cottage. Hiking trailheads can be found as close as a quarter mile from the Cottage. Take a ferry ride across Lake Champlain over to Vermont for the day, or drive 90 minutes north to visit Montreal. So much to do, and so little time! And at the end of the day, return to the Cottage for a BBQ, and some relaxing bug-free hours on the screen porch.
AUTUMN AT THE COTTAGE: The Adirondacks come alive in Autumn, as the leaves turn from green to bright hues of yellow, red, and fiery orange! This is the perfect time for outdoor activities in the High Peaks. The air is cool and crisp, and the views are breathtaking. Whether you prefer to hike, bike, canoe, kayak, golf, shop, or sight see, Autumn is a great time to be in the Adirondacks. And when the day of activities is done, return home to luxurious accommodations at the Cottage. Take a hot shower, put on a fire, and relax!
