Castiglione Messer Raimondo Apartment Rental Photos and Description

3 bedrooms, 1 bathrooms, 2 shower rooms, sleeps 10 in total, with pool

Villa Collecimino is a spacious, self-catering, detached property with plunge pool, located in 3.5 acres of orchards, olive groves and agricultural land on top of a hill 550 metres above sea-level, with stunning panoramic views of the Appennine mountains on one side and the Adriatic sea on the other. Both apartments have terraces where you can dine, sunbathe or just enjoy the beautiful views of Abruzzo. It is just 40 minutes from Pescara airport, 30 minutes from the beaches and 40 minutes from the mountains. The villa consists of two separate self contained apartments each with their own private entrance. The apartments can also be rented together (at a discount) - ideal for a holiday with extended family or with groups of friends. Please see our own website for more details. Guests are welcome to make use of the gardens and grounds surrounding the property. There are proper roads all the way from the airport to Villa Collecimino - no dirt tracks to negotiate!

Villa Collecimino: Ideal for rest and relaxation, Villa Collecimino is located in 3.5 acres of orchards, olive groves and agricultural land. It is situated 550 metres above sea-level in a small hamlet which has regular visits from a mobile baker, butcher, and fishmonger. There is a large supermarket and a range of shops just a 10 minute drive away in Cesi. 15 minute drive from the historic medieval towns of Penne and Castiglione MR. There are many wonderful places to eat locally - 5 minutes' walk from an 'agriturismo' offering delicious meals from home-grown produce, and a short drive from many other restaurants as well as the best seafood restaurant we have ever visited.

If you would like to visit our own website, please click on the link under location.

Attractions and Excursions: The Gran Sasso and Majella National Parks are just a short drive away. You can enjoy majestic mountain scenery with a wide variety of flora and fauna, and, if you are lucky, you may spot a wild bear, wolf or chamois. On the edge of the National Park is Castelli, a beautiful medieval town nestled in the mountains, renowned for its hand-painted ceramics. (There are many interesting medieval hilltop towns and villages in the area.) In the other direction, just 30-40 minutes from our villa, are the pine-fringed, clean sandy beaches of the Adriatic, that stretch for more than 15 miles. Other attractions include golf, winter sports, and, if you feel the need for some pampering, you could try one of Abruzzo’s thermal spas - the waters in this area are renowned for their healing and detoxifying properties.

We have lived in Newhaven, East Sussex on the south coast of the UK, since 1997. We love views - our house in Newhaven is perched on top of a hill with views right out to sea - we can see the ships in the shipping lanes plus great views of the Newhaven-Dieppe ferry every time it comes in and all the boats going in and out of the marina. We run a small translation business from home - my husband Marek is a linguist and I do all the admin, finances and day to day running of the business. In our spare time - I sing at weddings, funerals and with a chamber choir and Marek likes to dance - 'strictly ballroom' style.

Annie or Marek Lorys purchased this apartment in 2004

We went to Italy in 2004 looking for a property and stumbled upon this one on our 2nd day. We fell in love with it and its extraordinary and stunning location and there was no looking back......

Stunning location, stunning views of both the Apennine mountains in one direction and the Adriatic sea in the other. Both apartments have great views. It is also very peaceful and unspoilt.

COMMENTS FROM OWNER GUESTBOOK

June 06 We can only reiterate our fellow guests' comments, so beautiful and peaceful. We found ourselves wanting to whisper so as not to disturb the silence! One week was not quite enough time for us... we hope to return soon to this breathtaking scenery and lovely apartment, which was spotlessly clean and very comfortable.

BEAUTIFUL PLACE, WRONG SEASON

  • 3 of 5
The location is stunning, especially if you like to hike in beautiful farm country with snowy high peaks as a backdrop. We, unfortunately, were there during this very cold 2013 March, so were cold much of the time, even in the apartment. The water boiler that supplied heat and hot water was inadequate, even though we paid an extra 7 Euros/night in propane charges. Since the gas stove/oven was not vented, additional outside cold air was required for ventilation, while cooking. In warmer weather we would have appreciated the place much more.

Owner's Response: We were sorry to hear that our guests were cold in the apartment - we were surprised at this as we have had many winter guests over the last 9 years and this is the first time that we have had a complaint of this nature. The boiler is full size and is serviced and checked every year and there are plenty of radiators in each room. We are wondering if they didn't have the all of the radiators switched on or if they didn't turn the thermostat up to a high enough temperature? We had a couple in this apartment in a very cold January who heated the apartment to about 25 degrees while they were there and were very comfortable. We also didn't understand the comment about the cooker 'not being vented' - cookers in Europe are not vented to the outside and don't require outside ventilation while they are being used, so opening a window while cooking is not required. Thirdly, we would just like to say that we only charge for gas used for central heating in the winter months at cost - we just charge for the amount that guests use (metered) and we don't add anything to this price - this is the price that we pay for the gas ourselves. We also wish that our guests had contacted us while they were at Villa Collecimino and told us that they were cold and we could have asked our keyholders to check that everything was working properly and done our utmost to make sure that they were comfortable.

FANTASTIC WEEK ON OUR FIRST TIME IN ABRUZZO

  • 5 of 5
A fantastic week on our first time to Abruzzo, the apartment is very well equipped and had everything that we needed for a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. The view from the patio is beautiful and we will be returning to Abruzzo as soon as possible to discover more of this wonderful area, one week alone is not enough! We enjoyed visiting the beaches, especially Pineto and hope to see the National Park next time. We can HIGHLY recommend the Agriturismo ‘Colle San Giorgio’ down the road where we were totally spoiled/adopted by Franca, the food and hospitality is outstanding. We found the information folder really useful although one week is not enough to fully appreciate Abruzzo and its wonderful inhabitants. The locals are very helpful and friendly, thanks for a great stay, we will be back.

Vincenzo very helpful and welcoming too. All in all this is a very well organised apartment and has got us thinking about buying property in this beautiful area of Italy.

WONDERFUL STAY IN ABRUZZO.....

  • 5 of 5
We had a wonderful stay in Abruzzo.......we enjoyed the views and the kindness of the locals very much. Having breakfast with the mountains in the background, which look different all day, was great. The apartment had everything we needed......our kids had a lot of fun in the Adriatic sea and in your pool. Highlights include: Campo Imperatore, Farindola with its waterfall, Penne, Madonna degli Angeli with its gelato, Cesacastina, the beautiful sea in Vasto, and every restaurant and supermarket we went in. Thanks for your professional booking and organising .

BEAUTIFUL, CALM AND WELL EQUIPPED HOLIDAY HOME

  • 5 of 5
We enjoyed our vacation here. A beautiful, calm and well equipped holiday home with terrific views. The visitor information, particularly the directions, were very helpful for us. We can recommend all of the walking routes of the Campo Imperatore and in the Maiella during one whole eight hour period, we neither heard nor saw any other people. All in all, a wonderful and very restful vacation - this was our first time in Abruzzo - but certainly not the last! Abruzzo - a paradise for ramblers and for people looking for peace and quiet!.
