WOW!!!

Review Submitted: November 7, 2008 Date of Stay: November 2008
My friend and I just completed a 3 night stay at this home. We have visited the Blairsville area for the past 15 years and have stayed at many places for different lenghts of time. My only complaint was that our stay could not have been longer. The home is extremely well kept and comfortable. And what can be said about the view. It is "Incredible"
Thanks to Doug and Beckie for an extremely enjoyable and smooth transaction and for the opportunity to stay at your home.
Highly recommend this property to anyone who wants to experience a "Little slice of Heaven."

Owner's Response: We want "The Overlook" to be more than you expected, we love to hear back from our guest. Everyone needs to slow down and be at peace with mountains, breathe in some fresh air, and enjoy what life has to offer. It seems impossible, but when you walk out on the deck, and stare into the mountains, a calming feeling will take over your body. Try living the simple life for just a couple of days or a week, and leave your stress behind.

Heavenly Haven

Lovie Rome, GA
Review Submitted: December 1, 2009 Date of Stay: November 2009
Renting mountain homes is something we do very frequently, at least 3 times a year, so over the past 10 years we have stayed in numerous homes in the GA and NC area and truly no view can compare to the one your home offers. It is an awe-inspiring view that triggers a calming, peaceful feeling to come over you every time you look outside. One morning the valley below was blanketed in a cloud-like fog and the immense beauty made us feel like we were in heaven.

I also want to express my sincere appreciation for all of the hard work you did to make our Thanksgiving celebration a very special event. We were so surprised to find the beautiful Christmas tree and festive decorations throughout the house, and the fresh flowers in vases were very hospitable as well. We instantly felt very welcomed.

Something else that makes you stand out from the other homeowners we’ve rented from was the friendly follow-up call you made to confirm everything was to our satisfaction, and when you discovered the internet wasn’t working, how quickly you moved to get it fixed. We were very impressed.

Before leaving I asked my two nieces (ages 16 & 11) how they would rate your home on a scale from 1-10 with 10 being the absolute best and the 16-year-old quickly answered, “13!” We all agree with her, so you can count on us to come again!

WOW!!!!

FL Escapees Lake Panasoffkee, FL
Review Submitted: August 25, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Words cannot express nor photos capture the true beauty of the view from this property! It is definitely one of God's masterpieces. Our week here was wonderful. The home was beautiful, clean, comfortable and very well stocked (lots of little extras like laundry soap, spices, etc., and more dishes and appliances than you'll ever need) The hottub was the highlight, with the cool evenings and the dramatic view. The weather was great - the a/c never kicked on - with brisk mornings and cool evenings. The neighborhood is gorgeous, and walks there replace your gym workout! Unless you just love tourist trap shopping - just drive through Helen to see the view and photo ops. Your time is better spent at the local waterfalls (no you cannot see them all in one day) and outdoor attractions. Big Al's pizza was Delicious and we had the sweetest little waitress ever! The folks at the Hiawassee Antique Mall are so nice and go all out to help you. (They made a ton of phone calls to arrange an economical delivery of a furniture purchase to Fl for us.) We never made it to the local lake, but plan to on the next visit. Rafted the Ocoee in TN - Awesome!! Distance wise you're very close to many activities, but because you're in the mountains it takes about an hour. The scenery is beautiful, so the drives don't seem long, and there are a million views to photograph. Doug was extremely helpful in arranging our trip, as it was kind of last minute, and checking in with us to make sure we were enjoying our stay. We have told all of our friends to visit here and we will definitely be back!

Thanks Doug and Becky for sharing you gorgeous home with us. It was one of our best vacations ever!

Breathtaking Views...Wonderful Home

Illinois travellers West Union, IL
Review Submitted: April 8, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
The Overlook was everything I expected and more! It was very very clean, well maintained, and so spacious. The views were just unbelievable until one is there to see for ones-self. The description was very acurate...it just didn't prepare us for exactly how accurate and "on-target" it was! The extra amenities that aren't often included (hand soap, shower gel, coffee & filters, spices in the cabinet, etc.), the spaciousness of this home, the master bath, the wonderful hot tub with magnificent views all added up to a great vacation in spite of the weather this time of year.
It was nice to have a notebook in The Overlook with area activites, attractions and restaurants.
The owner was very easy to work with, very accommodating. The directions and map we were given by the owner were easy to follow and exact.
We had not visited this area before and just loved our vacation here. The weather was cool and gray for the week, except for one day, so we didn't participate in any outdoor activities, other than enjoying the marvelous view from the deck of this home! We did drive throughout the are just to see different views and were not disappointed at all.
We visited Helen, Ga., also. We were disappointed in it. Many shops were either no longer inexistence or not open when we were there. Many were simply "touristy" type shops. Places to eat lunch in Helen were limited as well. The architecture and buildings were interesting to see though. We did enjoy the day, in spite of the disappointment in the town.
We enjoyed several restaurants in Hiawassee, though. Our favorite was The Marina, across the highway from the home. We also enjoyed Smoke Rings BBQ, and Monte Alban Mexican Restaurant, all in Hiawasse. We did eat buffet at Daniel's Steakhouse, but didn't order off the menu. The buffet was ok, but food selection on the buffet was pretty limited.
I would definitely recommend staying at the Overlook when visiting this area. We hope to come back sometime and stay here again.
We loved our time here..and found everything at The Overlook wonderful, and the people in this area so friendly.

Excellent Stay!

My new wife and I chose "The Overlook" to spend our honeymoon in March 2009. Doug was such a gracious host, eager to help any way that he could. He called to make sure we made it safely and that we departed safely. The property was very clean and well maintained. Plenty of towels, hot water. Gorgeous master bathroom and the view is to die for! The barbecue grill got plenty of use during our stay and the kitchen had all the silverware and utensils that we needed. Did I mention the hot tub? What a great was to relax after a stressful day of driving or hiking. The off season price was something I couldn't pass up. The house is roomy and cozy, very well decorated for the mountain theme, big screen TV with DVD's and games. Gatlinburg is about 2 hours away, but plenty of shopping and restaurants in the area. I have reccomended this property to my friends and we all hope to make the trip up next March. Give Doug and Becky's "Overlook" a try, you won't be disappointed.
