Falmouth highlights:
Forty-five minute ferry service to Martha's Vineyard (8 miles across Nantucket Sound) is available from both Falmouth (passenger) and the adjacent town of Woods Hole (passenger/car). This provides a fine option for easy day trips with your bikes or on foot. Falmouth Village is great for wandering through while visiting the numerous shops, having an ice cream cone, or even spending a rainy day in their fine library. The string of Cape Cod towns, each with its own character, extend to the east. Dozens of restaurants provide a range of choices in both cuisine and formality. You will run out of time long before you run out of options!
Woods Hole highlights:
Home to the internationally known Oceanographic Institute, it is a quaint town as well. There is a small aquarium here and the Institute hosts weekly foreign movies as well as a lecture series on various scientific topics. The ferry to Martha's Vineyard requires reservations only if you plan to bring your car.
