What a Great Place!

Our family has never had a beach vacation, we've always traveled to cities. Upon arriving at this house, vacation and relaxation truly began. The house sits in a quiet neighborhood, about 10 miles from the oceanfront, and about 15 miles from Norfolk. Walk out to your driveway and across the small private road, and you are on the sand that brings you to a beach, with a wide span of sand and gentle surf on the bay. While the ocean brings crashing waves, this beach allowed us to sit back and relax without constantly worrying about our children (9 and 7) who could play on the sand, in the water, or take a short walk on the beach and be in your sight at all times. It was great to bring the beach chairs (in your shed at the house) right down to the surf and let your feet sit in the water.
The house itself was charming. We had some friends over for dinner and sat 7 of us around the table comfortably. All of the beds were very comfortable, the bathrooms and kitchen were spacious and clean. There is an outdoor shower with hot and cold water, but it is on the porch of the rear unit. As no one had rented the other side, we were able to use it freely without feeling uncomfortable about being on someone's back porch. There are everyday conveniences such as a dishwasher, microwave and two flat screen televisions. Our family of four never felt cramped or that we were lacking any convenience.
There were many stores and restaurants around, but they weren't the "tourist" attractions. Most were local hang outs, grocery stores, and 7-11's. There were a lot of pizza, chinese and take out restaurants close by as well.
The night before we left we were able to meet the home owner. The family was very friendly and made us feel welcome to be staying in the house.
This was a great vacation spot for my family, and I would recommend it to anyone who has a family with children, or for couples who want to get away. This house would be great for anyone who wants to stay off the beaten path but still have the benefits of being close to the action.
