Notes: Welcome to Casa La Playa.....It's Paradise!! Five years ago, on our second trip to Costa Rica, we discovered Nosara. We came for a few days, stayed for two weeks, and bought this lot the day before we returned home. Originally designed with the ‘L’ on the opposite side of the house, we discovered that a family of howler monkeys used that edge of the property to make their way around, so we redesigned the house so they would continue to have unfettered access. We saved as many trees as we could, and added mango, orange, lemon, banana, and coconut. With its lush, indigenous landscaping, you get the ultimate in luxury and privacy, yet you’re only a four-minute walk to the famous Playa Guiones beach for swimming, sunbathing, snorkeling, and surfing. With 24-hour security, the house is fully air-conditioned with ceiling fans both inside and out.

We keep coming back :)

This is our families' third trip to CR and second time staying at Casa la Playa. We love it. My husband is a surfer and it's close to the beach. Actually it's close to everything, groceries, restaurants, internet cafe', surf shops, car rentals. The entire yard is a garden paradise. We sat on the front porch every morning drinking fantastic Costa Rican coffee, bird watching. The wild life is incredible. We always felt safe because a security company was always coming by checking on things. We enjoyed the pool daily. It was a great way to cool off after a day at the beach. We have traveled all over : Hawaii, New Zealand, Bahamas, Tobago. This place is affordable, beautiful, comfortable and we can't wait to return..

Christmas in Nosara

Review Submitted: January 10, 2010 Date of Stay: December 2009
Whether you’ve been coming to Nosara for years or planning your first trip here, you should consider Casa La Playa. My family stayed at this fabulous home over Christmas and loved every minute of it. The location is “rock star” – you can walk to Playa Guiones and the Yoga Institute in less than five minutes. The hotels, shops and restaurants on Nosara’s “main drag” are all walkable, too, or just a short drive away.

· The home itself is pristine and generously appointed, perfectly accommodating my husband, myself and our two kids with room to spare (two full baths…bonus!). The lush gardens are gorgeous and beautifully maintained (we enjoyed seeing the monkeys in the trees each afternoon). We loved the generous and shaded wrap-around porch and the Pura Vida pool – our kids spent hours swimming even after the beach! The well-equipped kitchen and laundry makes it easy to eat meals in and take clean clothes home with you.

Like our annual Christmas trip to Nosara, staying at Casa La Playa is sure to become one of our family traditions. Thanks to Mario and Roslyn for sharing their beautiful home with us!

Pura Vida,

Heather

Perfect

Review Submitted: September 13, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
Way better than a hotel.

Myself, wife and 17 year old daughter stayed in June 2009 for 9 nights at Casa La Playa. We all had a great time.

The house is very beautiful and comfortable. Perfect for vacation relaxing. Napping/lounging/reading/pool floating will get your battery recharged. The house is well maintained, the A/C's work as they should and the ceiling fans move a lot of air. My daughter took over the stereo and plugged her Ipod in first thing.

New experience butterflies quickly evaporated when we arrived in Nosara. The management staff (thanks Melissa!) was super friendly and took great care of us during our stay. Very accomodating and helpful. Everything about our rental turned out to be easy and stress free - one less thing to worry about when trip planning.

Nosara is the perfect vacation spot to go without an agenda and Casa La Playa is the perfect place to stay (with or without an agenda).

Our trip was in the "rainy season". We had rain in the afternoon or evening maybe 4 times, but even those days were sunny in the mornings. Surf was there to be had every day - so much for rainy season....

Nosara is surprising in its number of excellent restaurants. Way more than that more famous and more crowded spot a little further north. Don' be afraid to try new restaurants in Nosara. We didn't find a bad one during our trip. Odds are in your favor.

Some tidbits for the first time to Nosara folks: The Frog Pad is a friendly internet cafe and long distance phone call provider. Cafe Paris also has an internet cafe and an awesome bakery. Try the "Pargo Entero" - whole fried snapper - at the Gilded Iguana. For breakfast or lunch it is tough to beat Rosie's. If you love Tico food like we do you will eat there many times during your stay. Bring home a loaf of the fresh baked bread (the sweet one if they have it) and some pastries from the Cafe Paris and toast some slices in the toaster oven at Casa La Playa. Yumm!! And put some of those designer deserts in the fridge for a midnight snack - you ARE on vacation!

A 5 minute walk will get you to the Guiones beach. 5 minutes in the other direction will get you to the Yoga Institute.

Howler monkeys usually move through the trees at Casa La Playa in the afternoons - they are fun to watch. Welcome to the jungle...

Thanks Mario!

I can't wait to go back!

Bare/Sadie Ft. Lauderdale, Florida
Review Submitted: September 4, 2009 Date of Stay: February 2009
I stayed at Casa La Playa in February '09. It was the perfect getaway as was the weather. The house was great with everything we could possibly need - full kitchen, dining area w/ large table, expansive living room and two beautiful bedrooms with private baths. Everything is done so tastefully; touches that show that the owners really care about their home. We ate in several times, but their are several good restaurants nearby, all reasonably priced. And the ice cream store - yum! The pool was large enough to really swim in, and the ocean is within walking distance through the neighborhood. What a beautiful beach w/ very warm water. I took several long walks along the waters
edge. You can also watch the surfers, swim or just lazily read a book.
Back at the house is the best veranda ever! One can be quite lazy there for hours. Of course there's a lot to do nearby too, such as taking a Zip line through the area - not scary at all once you do it, and oh the views!! Yes - I plan to return again ( and maybe again). I loved Nosara and I loved the house. Thank you.

Absolutely worth it!

Review Submitted: August 7, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We loved Casa la Playa. It's a beautifully appointed house with lots of native touches and lgreat amenities. The kitchen was complete from A-Z; linens and towels were plentiful along with the convenient washer and dryer. The landscaping is lush and the house is set so far back that you practically can't see the street. There are howler monkeys, cotomundi, an incredible variety of birds, and armadillos. It really is a 4-minute walk to the beach! There's lots to do right there in Guiones - whether you want to surf, zip line, mountain bike, practice yoga, or just sit by the pool or in a hammock at the house and relax!

The owners were friendly and helpful - aiding us before we ever got there with places to go, eat, and enjoy in addition to a whole list of things to do that they have put together and left at the house. The property management people were helpful and courteous, and the cleaning people were great. The weather was perfect. We'd recommend Casa La Playa to everyone - with or without children, and we'll definitely be back.
