GREAT Place!

TravelLady Savannah, GA (USA)
Review Submitted: August 30, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
For our 20 year anniversary, my husband and I decided to take a trip with our best friends (another couple celebrating 18 years) to Greece. We wanted to be away from the chaos and traffic (so we heard) from Athens, but close enough to be able to drive there or take a bus so we could see the sights and enjoy it at our leisure! Main thing we wanted was a view and be close to beaches.

Well, we couldn’t have found a better location…or better hosts! The Kornberg’s villa in Anavyssos is absolutely breathtaking, inside and out. We had a view of the ocean from both bedroom balconies as well as from the living room terrace and the patio outside (where we had breakfast each day).

We arrived to find that they stocked our refrigerator with bottled water and fresh fruit. They put together a welcome letter with instructions on where everything was in the house, how to use the security system, a map to show us how to get to many of the local restaurants and stores, and they even put together an suggested itinerary for us (at no extra charge!). What a help that was!

Things we loved:
* The elevator – My husband recently tore his ACL and this was such a plus to not put any ‘extra’ stress on his knees
* The town of Anavyssos – it’s quaint, it’s friendly, it’s just far enough away from Athens, and just close enough to it!
* Our hosts – What a treat they were – you will not get this kind of personal attention in any hotel!

Things to be aware of:
* You will need to rent a car. Also, remember that automatics are harder to come by, so tell Sid and Anna if you need an automatic so they can have one arranged for you.

All in all, we had a wonderful trip and would highly recommend this place to anyone planning a week (or more) vacation in Greece.

The Ultimate Greek Experience

Wanderlust Willow Grove, PA
Review Submitted: July 26, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
From the moment Sid Kornberg picked us up at the airport, we felt right at home! Staying with the Sid and Anna was a much more rewarding experience than even a five-star hotel could offer. They were gracious hosts who wanted nothing more than to make our stay a pleasant one. Anna cooked a full breakfast every morning and asked us to choose from a variety of options. Dinners were usually served outside on the patio overlooking the twinkling lights of Anavissos. Sid was the travel expert who was able to recommend activities from local beaches, to restaurants, to Athenian attractions, to “the ultimate Greek experience.” (You’ll have to ask Sid what that means ;-)

Their home is located about 25 minutes from the Athens International airport on the side of a hill which overlooks Anavissos bay. The view is stunning! Waking up each morning and walking out onto the balcony gave me such a serene and peaceful feeling. I couldn’t wait to start my day! The elevator was a great touch! If I didn’t feel like climbing the stairs it was ready at the touch of a button.
Sid and Anna were also gracious enough to obtain tickets to the new Acropolis Museum, which had only opened the week prior to our arrival, which were highly sought after tickets! They were also able to obtain an affordable car rental for our use. Other recommendations included the Island of Egina which was an easy one day trip from the house in Anavissos and an overnight visit to Napflio, the first capital of modern Greece. Sid and Anna made reservations for us at an affordable 3 star hotel in Napflio (60 Euro), which was located in the heart of the city.

I enthusiastically recommend you spend your vacation with this delightful couple who were able to help us discover our own “Ultimate Greek Experience.”

Thank you Sid and Anna for a wonderful time!

Never again!

Vasilica Jackson, Michigan, USA
Review Submitted: June 26, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
This rental house has a nice panorama of the hill and water, but the owners live on site!!! They give us "Rules & Regulation" for the use of THEIR HOUSE! We could not use the balconies when we wanted, because they have an alarm system and want to use it! The house is decorated with their family photos & kitch paintings, but the view is nice! We felt like school children under the adult supervision!!! My husband asked if we will be "grounded" if we do not follow their "Rules and regulations"...We will not rent this villa again! The near by hotels cost about 50 euro (ex. Alexander) & do not "keep an eye" on you...you will fill free to come and go as you will please.
Owner's Response: We invite the reader to be fair here. We believe this review to be totally unfair. The guests claim that they were surprised that “the owners live on site ! ! !”

But our website states clearly:

“You will occupy the 2nd and 3rd floors of the Villa. Your host occupies the ground floor of the villa.”

So should it have been any surprise that we live on the premises?!

The “Rules and Regulations” referred to by the guest is in reality a welcoming letter for all guests that begins. . .
“To our guests:
"To make your stay at the Villa as enjoyable as possible, we ask you to read the following information:”
Of course that letter does indeed include very strict rules about smoking on the premises. We also did provide our guests clear instructions, including a security code, on how to disarm the security system during the hours of 1 a.m. to 7 a.m., so they could open the doors to the verandas (where smoking was permissible). According to our records, the alarm system was never disarmed during their stay. We don't know why.

In any event we regard our instructions about smoking indoors and the security system to be important and reasonable, and designed in fact to protect not just us, but the guests as well..

As the guest accurately reported, the husband on the second day of the visit did in fact ask if they would be "grounded" if they violated the non-smoking ban. We regrettably assumed he was joking with us, and we laughed along with him, acknowledging the joke. We now understand that this was intended as a serious comment.

As for “kitsch” paintings, the reader will be interested to know that many of them are by one particular Spanish artist named Ruiz, whose works have been featured prominently on TV shows in the United States. These paintings today command a high price in the art market. We admittedly have no Rembrandts.

Regarding photos of our daughter around the villa, we plead guilty! We make no excuses for displaying them, and certainly see no reason to hide them when a guest rents the Villa.

We invite the reader to compare this guest’s review with the many strong recommendations stated in the reviews of other highly satisfied guests, and to make an independent judgment.

Incredible Greek Experience!

olivbax Pittsburgh, PA
Review Submitted: May 7, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2008
If you are considering a trip to Greece and want the best of both a seaside villa and access to Athens and the islands, Sid and Anna's villa is for you! My friend and I stayed with Sid and Anna for 8 nights and could not be more thrilled with the villa! After Sid personally picked us up from the airport and made a few stops for some incredible chicken and wine, we were greated by the most wonderful hostess, Anna, on the villa's patio for a wonderfully prepared Greek dinner.

The villa has every accomodation you could possibly want for a week (or longer) stay in Greece. The elevator in the villa was a true plus and an especially rare treat in a European town. Sid and Anna provided endless suggestions for everything from restaurants, to islands to visit, to archaelogical site must-sees, to the best beaches in Anavissos. It was like having a person concierge for the Best of Greece.

If you enjoy snorkeling, the beaches in and around Anavissos Bay are a short ride away and offered daily adventures. We saw everything from exotic Meditterranean fish to a baby octupus! As pointed out, a car is a must to get around. However, Athens and the main port for all ships going to the Greek Islands are a bit less than an hour away.

We cannot say enough about Anna and Sid's villa and encourage anyone considering exploring all of the incredible wonders Greece has to offer to spend your time staying in the warm and comfortable villa.

2 Weeks in Greece

The Baltimore, Maryland Girls Joppa, Maryland, USA
Review Submitted: July 28, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
The owners, Sid and Anna, will make your stay an enjoyable one. Anna is one of the sweetest women you will ever meet and Sid is also very nice with a knowledge of Greece that is impressive. The villa is beautiful as you can see from the pictures. We were welcomed at the airport by the owner of the villa, Sid, who drove us back to the villa after making a few stops along the way to pick up items to go along with lunch. Once at the villa, Anna greeted us with a wonderful lunch she had prepared (Anna is an excellent cook!!!) When we got into the villa we were pleasantly surprised to see that Anna had stocked our refrigerator with a bottle of wine, a couple bottles of water, fruit, some vegetables, jam, crackers and some cheese. What a nice touch!
There were three of us that rented the villa. When renting you will be on the second and third floors of the vilIa and there are quite a few steps to get to the front door of the villa and once inside there are steps to the third floor. On the inside steps from the 2nd to the 3rd floor there is no railing to hold onto so be careful. I had the master bedroom and the bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of drawer and closet space. One thing we all enjoyed was the great view from the balconies of the villa.
A car is a real necessity, nothing is within walking distance and a car with an automatic transmission is a "special order" at the car rental agency. Be sure not to rent a car at the airport it is more expensive than renting one at the local travel agency.
One thing I wasn't prepared for was the "bathroom ritual"....no toilet paper is allowed to be put in the toilets, there is a container in all the bathrooms to put toilet paper in. This is something that is throughout Greece not just the villa.
If you let the owners know what activities that you are interested in before your stay, They are kind enough to make reservations for you and find out information. They also provided us with maps and details to find everything we needed.

I had a great experience in Greece and would recommend this villa. Two Thumbs Up.
