We bought the house in Gardiner to put us in the Gardiner School District so we can send our daughter to school there. We live 30 miles north of Gardiner in the middle of the Paradise Valley on a 10,000 acre cattle ranch that has been in the family since 1866.
Last year we completely renovated the house and started renting it as a vacation rental in the summer.
Belinda Story purchased this house in 2003
Some of the favorite things about the property that people enjoy the most, is being able to walk to shops and restaurants in Gardiner. Yet when at the house, it feels 'like you are in the middle of nowhere' with the Yellowstone River rushing by the deck. Also watching animals come out into the meadow across the river in the evening was another favorite.
Being so close to Yellowstone Park (literally on the border) it makes the perfect base for your day adventures into the Park.
The perfect getaway for Yellowstone ! We were two couples and the house was just right for us. The living room and extensive deck look out over the river and the mountains beyond with wonderful sunrises and sunsets. The house was well equipped and really well placed just a few minutes drive from the park north entrance. We will certainly be recommending Buffalo Bluff to all our friends.

You made us feel so welcome.Your home is well-equipped with fantastic gas grill and beds are comfortable and the washer and dryer were great to have with little ones.We loved having the yard for the grandkids to play tag and ball. The deck was heavenly to have breakfast on while looking at the the mountains and listening to the rush of the river. I wanted to thank you for allowing my family to stay at your place during our Yellowstone vacation! Your place was beautiful (inside and out) and we enjoyed having our coffee and dinners overlooking the wildlife, river and park.
Being able to walk into downtown Gardiner for activities, shopping and viewing the elk and deer was definitely a perk.
I would recommend your place for anyone looking for a home away from home. The vicinity to beauty, activities and park access are without comparison.
We planned to visit Yellowstone park for a few days and was looking for accommodation for the first time on vrbo. The pictures of this place seemed to be way beyond the reality but eventually I booked it from Monday to Friday. We traveled with my friends family. So in total 4 adults and 3 kids. When we got there we were shocked to see that the house is actually very similar to what we've seen on the website. It was beautiful. The rooms were cozy, the kitchen was very well equipped. The view was stunning from the deck. We only spent the nights there, as we were on the way for the most part of the days but still it was good to get back to such a nice place. The technical details were easy and efficient. The keys were where they were supposed to be and everything arranged was in place. Restaurants are in walking distance. Shop is 3min drive away, open until 10pm. North entrance of the park is 5min drive.
We enjoyed our stay very much and the kids too. The front and back yards were big enough for them to get some running around. The only inconveniency was the handling of the trash. It is supposed to be taken to a place for drop off, Unfortunately we were in a hurry the last day when we were leaving, so we had to leave it behind us, Sorry for that Belinda. Otherwise I'd highly recommend this place to stay for everyone.
My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Buffalo Bluff - it was like home away from home and the welcome pack was lovely from Belinda. It was so handy being near to the entrance of the park. We had some lovely days out exploring Yellowstone's wildlife, hot springs and geysers -can't wait to go back again! We also drove the Bear Tooth's Highway which we recommending doing as it has some wonderful scenery and the roads were amazing! We enjoyed having our breakfast on the deck over looking the park. We saw a moose on our last morning enjoying a drink in the river. We had some great meals in the nearby restaurants and everyone we met was so friendly. We also saw a mother bear and her cubs which was great. We would love to come back again.
This is a terrific house - clean, comfortable, with all the comforts of home and everything you'd need for a relaxing stay. We were initially concerned that there was no air conditioning upon our return from Yellowstone on our first night, as we were there during a hot week. But once we opened the windows the house cooled down quickly and we realized we could just count on nature for air conditioning! The deck is lovely, and affords not only a great view, but also the incredibly relaxing sound of the rushing water as the Yellowstone River flows by. The location cannot be beat - you can walk to anything you need in town, and it is not even a mile's drive to the Roosevelt gate.
As a New Yorker accustomed to top notch pizza and other Italian food, I would not recommend Outlaw pizza. However, we really enjoyed the pulled pork and ribs at Cowboy Grille (they even have some good wines on the menu!), and also highly recommend the Corral Drive Inn just down the street for fabulous beef and buffalo burgers. We also stopped at Chico's Hot Springs for a soak and swim on our way out of town - from a NYC perspective this was a fantastic deal with day pass costing only $7.50 per person (+ $1 towel rental) and an excellent lunch at Percie's poolside grille.
If we come back to Gardiner we would rent this house again in a heartbeat. Thanks for a great stay!
