Gorgeous custom home in Half Moon Bay is perched on top of a bluff looking out onto Half Moon Bay harbor and Mavericks world famous surfing. The home was completed in 2003 and is two stories, every single room on both levels have a 180 degree view of the Pacific Ocean.

The home has 3 bedrooms, all of which have ocean views, as well as 2.5 bathrooms. There is an outdoor living area with space to barbeque and as well as a balcony which wraps around the second floor of the home. There is also a dining area on the second story balcony overlooking the yard, ocean and harbor. There is a garage with room for two cars to park.

The home is equipped with plasma televisions and a fully stocked kitchen. There are full linens in every bedroom as well as bathrooms with towels as well as hand and bar soap. There is a laundry room with a washer and dryer. The house is wired for broadband internet/Wi-Fi and is provided free of charge (premium cable TV included as well). A groundskeeper maintains the yards and during your stay will on come once a week.

The living space is divided into two levels and the top level consists of a living room with fireplace and plasma TV as well a s fully equipped gourmet kitchen. The second story also houses the master suite with walk in closet and jetted bathtub. The home is without a doubt in a very safe location and comes with a security system.

This was our first stay in Hapf Moon Bay and we can't say enough glowing remarks about the accomodations. The home was ready as planned, spotless and close to wonderful adventures for our dear family to enjoy.
Thank you for providing such a well manicured yard and space for us all to enjoy. We are already looking into future stays at this location.
Allow me to list a few great finds in this rental"
-spacious bedroom accomodations,amazing master bath and walk in closet,clean, clean clean rooms, tvs in all rooms if needed, amazing view of the ocean, walking paths that feel like you are far away in the wilderness, wonderful kitchen especially fun for our family of chefs, trash compactor comfortable beds!!

All of this and more made our first Thanksgiving at the property one we will treasure for ever.
We are grateful and blessed with the time together in a beautiful home.

Wedding weekend

When looking for a rental home to stay at for our wedding weekend in Half Moon Bay, my husband and I wanted a place where we could share the long weekend with our four close friend’s, but have enough space to spread out. This house had just that. It was very roomy and had an awesome kitchen. The backyard made for a great Friday night BBQ so we could catch up with family and friends that were driving from out of state.  Great views of the ocean and a beautiful meadow out back made for some beautiful one-of-a-kind wedding pictures.  It was a memorable and fun weekend and overall we had a pleasant stay.
While the home seemed to have the amenities and location we desired, there were many concerns and realizations when we arrived at the home on Thursday night.  It was not as clean as one would expect a rental of this caliber to be; we found garbage in the dresser drawers of one of the rooms, one old dirty shoe under a bed, and the most concerning - a used medical tourniquet balled up and shoved in the cushion of a chair.  We emailed the owner the night we arrived about our concerns and findings and she was very apologetic and assured us that the home was well cared for.  The email was appreciated, but upon waking up on Friday morning we could see there was even more obvious wear and tear to the inside of the home as compared to the photos and description on the website. For the money we paid to rent this home we thought it would be in better shape. The walls need to be repainted as there are many scrapes, gashes, and scuffs throughout the home. There is a big stain on one of the kitchen window coverings. The bathroom doors don't  lock. Which the owner claims they do, but in previous comments guest have left say the same thing. They don't lock.  Another highly odd fact the smoke detectors were removed from the bedrooms?!   The bases were mounted in the rooms but there were no detectors to be found. The last thing I will say is that as compared to other rentals in the HMB area, this one is overpriced for what you get we all felt.  We had family friends stay in homes nearby that were less expensive and much more homey. This place could be a wonderful gem of a rental if more attention was paid to some of the little things that make the others rentals in the area more desirable.

Owner's Response: My first response to this new review was disbelief. Our cleaning and maintenance staff works extremely hard to prepare the home so that it is beautiful and clean. Our cleaning services are provided by a long-term, reputable company who operates in Half Moon Bay for many years. A thorough walk through is performed by me, the owner, I am the last person to leave the home and, I am proud of the work that has been done.
There are occasionally issues that develop when a guest checks-in. We stress to our guests that from the time the arrive, until they check-out, we are on call for any questions or issues that may arise. After 5 years of owning and operating a vacation home, with nearly all of our guests, "happy", it is extremely disappointing to receive a negative review such as this one. I have received feedback throughout the summer from our many guests prior to this guest and guests who have followed, who love our home and thank us for finding it extremely clean.
Each guest has a specific reason for reserving our home. The majority of our guests take excellent care of our home and we have many guests who return year after year.
The Homeaway customer review system allows a guest to write a review and whether the review is accurate or not, the review is posted. Therefore, I adamantly deny the contents of the above review. It is impossible to have found clothes and trash in our home. In fact, this guest had an unauthorized party in the home and left an unimaginable quantity of trash.
I am presenting the smallest glimpse into what occurred in the home during this guest stay. I question each guest "intended use of our home", almost all of our guests are honest, but occasionally one gets by.
I can only assure my future guests that we will continue to work extremely hard and do everything within our power to have the home in the best possible condition at check-in. In addition, we will continue to be there for any questions or concerns which may arise.

Backyard wedding

We recently hosted a wedding reception at this house. It was perfect for a gathering of 55 friends and family. The balcony overlooking the pacific views is great! The yard was decent size to accommodate tables and chairs. We used the patio as our dance floor. The only tricky design element is the living and kitchen area is upstairs. We made it work good exercise!
Overall the stay was fabulous the rooms and the living areas all had just the right touch. Loved the giant kitchen perfect for displaying a buffet and cocktails. Thanks again Linda for agreeing to let us host our memorable wedding here! What a treat!

Amazing house and magical week on the coast

I stayed at this house with my family for 7 days and it couldn't have been a more perfect stay. The house is perched up on a little hill that had sprawling views of the ocean. At sunset the light that comes in can only be described as magical and the glow made all of us glow! The house had more than enough room for all of us to be comfortable and the kitchen and dining room is wide open, which made cooking together unbelievable. The owners were timely with their responses and helpful about information about the local area. We created so many great memories here and we will for sure be coming back!

Disappointing to say the least

Although showing some wear and tear, the overall condition of the house was ok but the housekeeping & yard maintenance left much to be desired. The odor in the entire upstairs area was nauseating! In hopes of finding the cause of the odor, a used prophylactic and wrapper were found under the dresser in the master bedroom. There was also quite a bit of different types of hair under all of the bedroom furniture. Homeowner vehemently denied an odor existed but their carpet specialist sent to inspect the upstairs carpets agreed with us and determined it was due to the previous renter's dog. Treatment of carpet improved but did not eliminate odor in master. Carpet specialist's attempt to remove odor left carpet in master wet enough to soak our socks for our final 2 days. Coffee and grounds left in coffee maker. None of the bathroom door locks worked. Although yard maintenance occurred the morning of our arrival, there was dog excrement on lawn in multiple places. The ratty patio furniture cushions had burn holes and tears and looked unusable. There were cobwebs on the interior and exterior that we felt needed attention. Not what we consider a model of luxury. In the end, a small refund was given to us which we feel did not begin to make up for the inconveniences we had to deal with.

Owner's Response: This guest reserved our home for 4 days. It wasnt until two days after this guest checked-in that we received an email regarding an odor. The following morning, we dispatched our carpet specialist to the home to eliminate the odor. The solution that was used was a "green" chemical, there was no water used. The odor was removed and to guarantee fresh air, an ioniizer was setup, it was quiet and out of the way. The complaints continued of "wet socks", which was impossible, as there was no water used. I also found the ionizer, unplugged.

The guest initially described our yard and landscaping as "lovely", but her review complains of poor landscaping, furniture and dog excrement. The gardeners cleaned & manicured the yard on the day she checked-in, so had there been any excrement, it would have been removed by the gardeners. The guest also complained about our patio furniture, however she broke a table and did not report it to me, I found the broken pieces.

The bathroom locks work, and the remaining complaints make no sense to me, I heard of them as I read this review, her visit took place nearly 2 months ago. I can't address a complaint if I don't know about it.

We perform a thorough walk through of the home prior to check-in and are proud to turn the home over to our guests.

It is difficult for us to understand the extreme negativity of this review as the home is exactly as it is portrayed on our site. Every picture and written description is exactly what is found upon arrival at the home.

I believe this guest confused the amenities of a 5 star resort with a vacation rental home.

It is a beautiful home and we are proud of the fact that almost all of our guests are extremely happy with the home.

I applied a $250 credit to her 1st night's stay and mailed a check to her for an additional $300, I believe this was more than fair.

Finally, it is our goal to have happy guests, but it is important to note here, as an owner, that if there are issues found in our home. we must be notified immediatey. There are occasionally unforseen issues that arise, but resolving issues with as little disruption to our guests and their visit is our #1 goal. Unfortunately, to first learn of negative complaints in a review long after check-out is extremely unfair.

Not up to our expectations due to cleanliness issues

This property was not adequately cleaned prior to our arrival. For instance, the waste paper container in the master bathroom was full and there were used coffee grounds in the coffeemaker. The master bedroom had an odor and we bought some air freshener to deal with that problem (I would guess the carpets had not been cleaned very recently?). The hardwood floors in the kitchen and dining areas and stairs are in need of either deep cleaning or professional maintenance. That is a general concern I have, that is, the owner has some deferred maintenance that is needed and, if performed, would make this a much more attractive place to stay. Otherwise, we found the owner (or contact person) very helpful and the views of Half Moon Bay--esp. the sunset--from this property to be beautiful.

Owner's Response: Prior to our guest's check-in, we perform a complete and thorough walk through of the home, therefore, I disagree with this review stating "cleanliness issues". In addition, we retain a carpet/hardwood cleaning service, who takes care of our carpet & hardwood on a regular basis, to insure they are clean, at all times.

The initial inquiry from this guest, requested the cleaning fee be returned, if she were to clean the home, upon check-out. This request to clean our home, was most unusual, and a cause for concern, but I allowed the reservation to go forward anyway.

If cleanliness issues were found, I was not notified by this guest. We provide our contact information and encourage guests to contact us by cell phone/email with any concern, so they can be immediately addressed.

We had no idea this guest had "cleanliness issues" until we received this review, which causes me to question the authenticity of this guest's concern.

In a spirit of providing good customer service, this guest changed her reservation, several times, which we accommodated and we accommodated her request to check-in several hours early.

Finally, if cleanliness issues were to the extent she described, why would she rate our home a 4 out of 5, which is a nearly perfect rating.

Our goal is to turn our home over to our guests in "perfect condition", based on recent reviews, we are meeting this goal.
