Beaching in York: York has 4 beaches each with it's own personality. Cape Neddick Beach (with in walking distance) has tide pools and is smaller than the others. Short Sands Beach (less than 1 mile away) is a family friendly beach with a playground, basketball court, grassy park and restrooms. It's a safe swimming beach. Long Sands beach is the longest on York (about 2 miles). Again, it is a safe swimming beach and very family friendly. There are take out restaurants, restrooms and ice cream! This beach attracts surfers from far and wide. The parking is metered and it's very easy to unload beach gear. The York Harbor Beach is a few minutes south. It too is smaller and great for families.
Our area: This lovely new home provides all you need for a seaside vacation whether with family or friends. From coffee on the porch to a walk along the beach, all favorite vacation activities are at your fingertips. You are just minutes from: 1. Long days at the beach; some complete with an arcade, playground, and candy shops while others are just a stretch of sand, water and sun. 2. World class dining or a casual lobster dinner while looking out at the ocean. 3. Outlet shopping. Many famous name designers and shops are represented from Coach to the Gap making this a perfect spot for a day of shopping. 4. An outing to Ogunquit (just 10 minutes north) for walking the 1.5 mile Marginal Way, dinner in Perkins Cove, a day at the 3 mile long white sand beach or an evening of theater at the Ogunquit Playhouse. 5. Golf, horseback riding, day camps for the kids, or a day trip to Boston (1 hour away).
