Go to the springs located in the mountains, or just walk down the beach to dig a hole in the sand. Bird watching is an awesome activity. The end of our beach is a bird sanctuary as well as the estuary behind the house. There is a large variety of birds who migrate through this area at all times. Whale watching is nearby as the whales move south to begin their spawning and then move north through Punta Banda as they head back toward Alaska. The dolphins play in the waves right in the surf outside your windows!! Beach is sandy, no rocks, no undertow and safe for the kiddies.
House is big and the view is beautiful. You are right on the beach. The living room, dining room, tv area are all in one big, long room. 2 fireplaces on each side. Master bedroom is nice. Has a great shower/tub area with beautiful tile work and you can shower and look out to the ocean. It also has a sliding glass door that would be nice to open and listen to the waves but the door has no screen on it and the flies are everywhere. I felt like there was a fly infestation. The 2nd bedroom is nice with it's own small bathroom. The 3rd bedroom is on the other side of the house. It is between the kitchen and this storage room where they keep all their supplies, the washer/drawer and the hot water heater that goes on and off ALL night. If you sleep in the 3rd room which has 2 sets of bunkbeds (the room is very small like 10x10) plan on hearing the hot water heater all night. The Jacuzzi pump is also in that storage room and it is SO loud. The day we arrived the Jacuzzi was not working. The owner called a pool guy who arrived later the next day and fixed it. When we arrived there were towels hanging from the clothes line that she left up to dry, the hose was thrown across the whole yard, there were no hand towels in the bathrooms to at least dry our hands. We had to search the cabinets for towels. The screens on the doors get stuck and are hard to open and close. The BBQ was so disgusting that I was scared to use it. I do not think it has ever been cleaned. The rack was so filthy from left over food. I tried to find a brush to clean it before I put my meat on it but no luck. The whole thing was nasty. Under amenities it says the house has beach chairs, it does, we found them thrown on the ground outside the master bedroom. They are really old and torn. It also says the house has a boogie board. It is not really a boogie board it is more like a piece of old plywood shaped like a boogie board. I definitely feel like the owner just does the minimum to get this house rented. I have rented more than 10 homes off of the homeaway website and this is the only house that I have written a bad review about. No instructions on how to use the smart tv (never got it to work) The beach is very nice not very busy or rocky. Like I said, the view from the dinning room/living room is beautiful. Floor to ceiling windows that were very clean. The front yard, where the Jacuzzi and patio table are has a nice firepit.
We were 9 adults who stayed at this lovely villa property for 8 days to support one of the Baja 1000 motorcross teams. The description and photos are accurate. The place was clean and relatively well maintained. There were a few maintenance issues that were being addressed by the owner.
The place easily accommodates a large group. We particularly enjoyed the fireplace and hot tub during the cool evenings. The Baja 1000 racers appreciated the court yard space to attend to their motorcycles.
As our group was mainly focused on the race, we did not see too many of the local attractions. We loved the close proximity of the beach and ocean for watching evening sunsets, for morning walks and occasional swims, cold but refreshing at this time of year. We did see Bufadora and attended an excellent community theatre production in which Irka was involved, both nearby.
Irka was efficient with the booking, gracious, and accommodating.
The road from Ensenada to this area is under construction. Take care when driving at night. A vehicle is a must.
We had the pleasure of staying in this house from December 29th to January 2nd, 2012. The drive from San Diego was a breeze and the toll road was beautiful and safe to travel on. Each morning we watched the dolphins swim by and play in the waves in front of the house - it was amazing! We brought our dogs and they thoroughly enjoyed the trip as much as we did! The house has a gated yard, so it was great for letting the dogs outside without worrying about whether they would run off somewhere. The beach was very private and we felt as if we had it all to ourselves. This was our third trip to Punta Banda in the last 6 months and we just love it and will continue to visit several times each year. We found sand dollars on the beach and took long walks along the secluded 7-mile beach with the dogs. We spent this trip relaxing and enjoying the beach and the house, but there’s a lot to do if you’re so inclined. You can go horse back riding or paraflying right from the beach and La Bufadora is only a few minutes away. The neighbors are friendly and the view from the house is just breathtaking. We shopped at the local markets and made delicious meals every day in the fully-equipped kitchen. Everything at the house was clean and comfortable and we felt right at home there. We can't wait to go back and bring our kids with us next time.
Located in Punta Banda, this is on the beautiful six mile beach. The water is shallow for long distances; just perfect for the kiddies. Watch the dolphins swim by in the waves, get out the boogie boards, play Frisbee or volleyball on the beach. Rent a horse for a ride down the beach. The end of the estuary is a protected bird sanctuary. There are walking trails and signs to acquaint you to plants native to the area and birds that migrate through.
Close by is the only Micro Brewery in Ensenada.. And it's here, within a short walk. The Old Mission Brewery has wood fired pizza, beer brewed on the premises and a full bar and restaurant all in a gorgeous setting of the estuary. Live music weekends.
Not far away is a water park and zip lines!! Las Canadas has 5 lines and rope bridges and boasts the longest zip line in Mexico. 500 meters.
Ensenada is a cosmopolitan city with lots of nightlife, a free museum and culinary delights.
Other Activities: hot water springs, and the famous Blowhole LaBufadora
