My husband and I stayed at this very nice cottage. It is a very peaceful and calming area. The cottage is extremely clean. The bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchen, living room and hallways. The views are beautiful with lots of beach area for walking and shell collecting. Sipping coffee, tea, wine and watching boats pass by from the balcony was a special treat. Our 23 foot boat was very happy moored on their beautiful dock. We highly recommend this cottage. We can't wait to return!!!!!

Just completed my 2nd annual week at this cottage and it was wonderful. The owners are very accomodating and the cottage is great. It comfortably sleeps 5 people. The location right on the water is super and the view is so relaxing. There are great restaurants of varying price points within relatively short driving distances. We'll be back next year and I'm even trying to work in a weekend in the fall!

Wonderful Maine

Our family has been vacationing in Maine every summer since 1992. We discovered Villa Girasole 3 years ago and we have been coming back every year since. We had an early visit this year in June. Weather wasn't cooperative, but those are the chances we take when we plan vacations. The cottage is lovely and the view is fantastic. Relaxing and good for the soul. My husband loves fishing and he did so from the deck. The owner is exceptionally accommodating and makes everyone feel welcome.

In fact, on our first visit, we were extremely late arrving. the owner was pleasant and understanding, although we had inconvenienced him greatly, as he had to wait for us - i think it was around 8 p.m. when we finally had arrived.

We love Maine and we love villa Girasole. We may venture there in the fall, as we have not seen Maine in the fall yet. I am sure villa Girasole would be just as lovely in the fall.

The location and the dock are lovely but this property needs some TLC.
Windows and doors are difficult to open and close (an issue since the owner wishes both to be closed every time the tenant leaves the property in case of rain), moldy ice trays in the freezer and dirty drinking glasses. The "deepwater mooring" is indeed deepwater but don't bring a heavy boat because it is secured by a mushroom anchor and line (no chain). During our stay a lobster boat fouled it and the anchor began to scoot across to the neighbor's boat with my son's boat attached. Our boat had to be removed and, because neither mooring could be trusted to hold a 25" boat, my son brought the boat home to MA. It cost two days of his vacation. While the owner offered him and his wife a weekend in the fall as compensation it put a damper on what was supposed to be the "big family vacation" we hadn't had in 5 years. We had rented both his properties and the other is in about the same shape.
Owner's Response: The Party in question rented our Cottage at a discount price which was applied as good will gesture on our part. It is rather surprising to receive such disappointing review after members of the same Party had extended to us their compliments for having found the cottage clean and in good order. The complains made by the review are baseless, we do not delegate to a third party the house keeping work, we do this work ourselves for the purpose of assuring that every item is clean and in good order. We have extended to this Party all personal attention and courtesy that we extend to all our guests. it is with great pride that we are able to say that more than 50% of our guests are returning renters who apperciate our services and hospitality and make our Cottages their vacation destination year after year. As to the alleged mold in the freezer section of the refrigerator, we are sure this to be a misstatement, since, to our knowledge it is not possible for mold to grow in a freezing environment and that the refrigerator had been thoroughly cleaned prior to the Party moving in.

As for the mooring mishap, although we are sorry for for the unfortunate incident, we cannot be held responsible for the reckless and unforeseen action of a Lobster Fisherman, who, in the attempt to untangle his trap line dislodged our mooring from its original location and moved it approximately 40' closer to our neighbor mooring. In the attempt to place blame, the autor of the review, neglected to mention the fact we offered, at that time, the use of a second mooring, however such reasonable accommodation was declined since the owner of the boat had already made up his mind, for reasons of his own, to pull his boat out and go home. His boat prior to the incident had been moored for 4 days to our mooring and that during this time our mooring performed as intended and demonstrated to be reliable with a 25' boat tied to it. The writer also neglected to mention the fact that the owner of the boat, during docking operation, damaged the rudder on our kayak. A new rudder ordered by the aforementioned individual was received. We are appreciative to the fact that the writer has mentioned our good will gesture in offering to the boat owner a free weekend stay at our cottage. Again we could not control the actions of the boat owner as much we could not control the action of the Lobsterfisherman. Mooring: 200lbs Anchor, 20' Galv. Stl.Chain 1" Nylon Rope & 2' dia. Ball.

We enjoyed our Columbus Day weekend at this cottage. Foliage was beautiful. The description on the website is accurate. The house is very comfortable and well-appointed. The property was immaculate, and the owner was very nice. He was truly concerned that everything was perfect during our stay. He greeted us upon our arrival and gave us a personal tour. Great spot for a boat, kayaks, etc. Good restaurants nearby. Hoping to return next year.
