PET FRIENDLY HOME IN DOWNTOWN BAR HARBOR

Bar Harbor House Rental Photos and Description

3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, sleeps 6

This can be your perfect, private home in Bar Harbor. If you want an extended visit, or are traveling with a group, kids, or the most important family member, your beloved pet, the Crocus Cottage is your ideal solution. This three bedroom, 2.5 bathroom home comfortably accommodates six guests in total privacy.

Quiet Season rates are $1500 per week and Summer Season rates are $2200 per week.

And you're in the center of it all! Tucked away in the center of the the village of Bar Harbor, the cottage is amazingly convenient. The location allows you to easily walk to all of your favorite Bar Harbor shops, restaurants and activities. No driving is required to take advantage of absolutely everything in the village. The cottage is literally steps from village's only full-sized grocery store.

'l’Isle des Monts Désert': “The Island of Barren Mountains,” named by Samuel de Champlain when he first sighted it in 1604, Mount Desert Island lies just off the rugged coast of Downeast Maine, with Frenchman Bay to the East and Blue Hill Bay to the West. Its twenty-six domed granite summits seemingly rise straight out of the Atlantic, and trap more than twenty glistening fresh water lakes and ponds between their flanks.

On this compact yet dramatic island you will find some 30,000 acres of Acadia National Park, preserved by foresighted and benevolent conservation pioneers for your amazement and enjoyment. Over 130 miles of hiking trails and 57 miles of impeccable, car-free carriage roads, you can enjoy everything from a casual stroll to a highly technical climb. Perhaps even a horse-drawn carriage ride through the park?

Around and about in Bar Harbor: Our village is the largest and most well-known of Mount Desert Island’s communities. An eminently walkable village, Bar Harbor is nestled between the ocean and Acadia National Park, and filled with a rich array of restaurants, shops and boutiques, and fine galleries. Here you will also find the home bases for all your Acadian adventures. What shall it be?

* Whale watch, island ferry, or schooner cruise?

* Bicycle, kayak or canoe rental or tour?

* Golf in the shadow of Cadillac Mountain at historic Kebo Valley?

* Crossing the bar at low tide to explore Bar Island in Frenchman Bay?

* Even a day trip to Nova Scotia on the high-speed “Cat” ferry?

Add to this variety of activities the numerous concerts, festivals, exhibits, lectures and other special events that fill the calendar in Bar Harbor, and you’ll find your days and your nights overflowing with fun.

Island Experience: While here, be sure to visit the island’s other villages: Northeast Harbor, with its grand cottages and yacht-filled harbor, and Southwest Harbor on the “quiet side”, across Somes Sound. Here you will find numerous boat-building operations, birthplace of some of the finest sailboats afloat. Nearby, seek out the Bass Harbor Light, so beloved of photographers and painters. Or, for a taste of real Maine island life, ride one of the many ferries servicing the several tiny island communities off Mount Desert’s shores.

FANTASTIC!

  • 5 of 5
This cottage is beautiful and just a great place to call home for a week. It has all of the amenities and is beautifully decorated. We could walk everywhere in Bar Harbor and it such an easy drive into Acadia National Park. Gary and Heidi were so nice and the Atlantean also looks like a great place to stay. We were a party of 2 couples so having a house was perfect for us.

WONDERFUL VACATION

  • 5 of 5
This is a beautiful home. Close to downtown - walking distance. Comfy beds, nice furniture all in excellent condition, lovely front porch and nice clean bathrooms. We had a great time and would stay here again. It can get a little noisy in the am, just being totally honest, since the house is behind Hannaford's supermarket but having the supermarket so close is such a perk! There is only ac in the master bedroom which we only needed the night we arrived. After that the breeze was wonderful for sleeping. We vacationed with our adult kids and they also thought the home was lovely and we all look forward to vacation next year!

AN AMAZING STAY

  • 5 of 5
Our family vacationed in Bar Harbor from June 4-11, 2011 and had a wonderful experience at Crocus Cottage. It is very welcoming, clean, close to the grocery store, downtown shops and harbor. Gary and Heidi were very informative and helpful. We felt right at home the moment we walked in and didn't want to leave at the end of our stay. We highly recommend Crocus Cottage and hope to return for a future stay.

BEAUTIFUL HOME IN CONVENIENT LOCATION

  • 5 of 5
This home was absolutely beautiful and was the perfect location for just keeping the car parked and walking to all the shops and restaurants Bar Harbor has to offer. It's also right behind the only grocery store on the island, so that is very convenient for those who do not wish to eat out every meal. Crocus Cottage is also only a short drive to Acadia National Park--a must see. The owners were very nice and professional. They do everything they can to make your stay at their home a wonderful experience. We vacation in Bar Harbor ME almost every year and will definitely keep this place in mind for our future trips!

WONDERFUL HOME

  • 5 of 5
Spent a wonderful week with friends at Crocus Cottage. We all remarked on how quickly we felt at home in the cottage. From the wonderful gourmet kitchen to the cozy LR fireplace and comfy upstairs bonus room, the home had everything we needed and more. Location is downtown and close to all the restaurants and shops. A great deal of our time was spent in Acadia which is a short drive/shuttle away. The house was perfect and would definitely stay here on our next trip.
