Classic Cape style home located in peaceful and private setting just a 5 minute walk to beaches. Amenities include outdoor shower, large deck with sun furniture and gas grill. Stones throw from bike path, beaches, walking trails. 10 minute drive to many restaurants and shops. This is a perfect get-away home for rest, relaxation and fun. Enjoy beautiful sunsets at First Encounter Beach.
Home History: This house was built by my parents in 1978 right down the street from a little cottage we rented when I was growing up. My two children spent their summers in this house enjoying all that the lower cape has to offer. In 2005 my husband and I purchased the home from my parents as it was getting to be too much work for them in their retirement years. We finished 2 large upstairs bedrooms and continued to enjoy our leisure time there. In 2007, my son graduated from high school, was accepted to many colleges that offered scholarships but chose the most prestigious school which did not offer any aide! HELP!
Instead of selling our family home,we have chosen to rent the house to well screened guests in hopes that it will bring you all the fun and relaxation we've enjoyed there.
2012 update: now my daughter is at UMiami without aide but we will continue to rent the house even when she graduates because we have met such wonderful people on this journey. Thank you to all our guests who have taken such good care of our home. Xoxo
FYI-2008: Everything was really wonderful and comfortable. We gloved the house and what a great location. The biking and walking is fantastic around there from the beaches to the neighborhoods, to the trails at Wiley Park. Thanks to your wonderful house and to your hospitality, we had a great time, thank you!
would love to rent the house again if you're going to offer it next year. Thanks again Lisa and David! PS, the television/HD was great..
the place was great and fully stocked regarding cooking utensils etc. Am thinking about renting for two weeks next year.
We had a great time- thank you. The beach was perfect for the kids and we enjoyed the biking too. My Dad is recovering from pneumonia so he enjoyed sitting out on the deck. I think other families should enjoy the house as much as we did as it's very comfortable and a great location. I hope you keep renting as we'd love to come back sometime.
FYI - 2009: Lisa-
Thanks so much, we had a fabulous time at your house. I still can't believe how many of the little things you had there for people to use as they needed. Thanks again...are you going to be renting as long as your son is at BC?! In other words, we can come back for another two years for sure?! Thanks again and have a great summer...
i left early on friday so i did not have a chance to sign your guest book. i still wanted to let you know that i had a wonderful time at your house. every thing was perfect. .... i consider myself lucky to have booked 2 weeks in cape cod and get my mind off things. the beach at the end of cole road was perfect for the little ones. ... i had a great time. thank you for letting us use your home. i hope i will have the chance to come back.
When you arrive at 40 Pilgrims Path you feel as if you are home. There are so many personal touches from special soaps in the bathrooms and blow dryers in the drawers, to a lovely note from the owners left just for you upon your arrival. Maybe the greatest feature of the house is its layout. The house is big enough to accommodate a lot of people and there is always someplace for you to go if you want to be alone and read a book. The outdoor deck is lovely at all times of the day. The outdoor shower has great water pressure and a gorgeous view of the clouds and the sky....or even the stars if you prefer a nighttime "dip." Within walking distance of the beach it is easy to come and go from the house so that you can enjoy the sea by day and the sunsets in the evening. You can load the car with beach chairs and cooler, drop it all off in the beach parking lot and return your car to your new home's driveway without ever having to pay the beach parking fees. Books and videos as well as board games and puzzles are left for your enjoyment throughout the home. They serve as invitations for you to enjoy this quiet getaway with family and friends. On the one rainy day we had, we discovered the game Monopoly in one of the bedroom closets and it made for an afternoon of fun despite the weather bringing "family togetherness" an all new meaning as we argued over paying rent and getting sent to jail courtesy of Milton Bradly and our home owners, the Hassetts. This is the second year we've stayed at this home and it will be our home of choice for many years to come. We can feel the memories others have shared in this home and are enjoying adding to them with our own.
beginning with the initial inquiry and continuing all the way through to the end, this has been a VERY pleasant vacation.
lisa balances friendliness and professionalism so well.
the location and layout and amenities of the rental home suited our three generation needs. we enjoyed the many beaches, hikes, miniature golf and eating lobster and steamers to name a few of the things we did.
it was very hard to leave - such a nice cared for home.
thank you, lisa and david , for providing us the use of your home.

The location is great: an easy walk to the lovely Cole Road beach on Cape Cod Bay. If you have young children, they will also enjoy the pond and other amenities at Wiley Park which is close by.
The owners furnish everything you need for your vacation: bed linens, bath towels, beach towels, even beach chairs, ice chests, and more. This was great for us as we travel by airplane, so aren't able to bring all of those things ourselves. (In the past we have rented through a realtor and these items--including bed linens--are not typically furnished. So we REALLY appreciate having all of that provided at this cottage.)
Lisa is very responsive. The screen door was not functioning properly, so we called her and it was taken care of immediately.
We highly recommend this cottage for its convenience, comfort and great location.
We had a wonderful time at this house! It is very spacious (4 large bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms plus outdoor shower, big living area and kitchen, big deck), was extremely well stocked with anything we could possibly need, and was very close to the beach (10 min walking, 5 min on bike, 2 min with car). It was less than 10 min to ride your bike to the bike trail or to Wiley Pond.
We would definitely recommend this home and would return to stay here next time we come to the Cape!
After a lengthy internet investigation into Cape homes, we decided to contact Lisa about 40 Pilgrims Path. From the information listed, the house seemed to fit our needs well; but what really caught my attention was Lisa's sincere description of how the home had always been in her family. That sincerity and pride became more evident in our email exchanges. However, you don't really know what you're getting until you arrive. We were not to be disappointed!
40 Pilgrims Path looked just like..... Cape Cod! The home was neat, clean, and well maintained. We had rented other properties in Eastham during previous vacations, and know the area well. This home was conveniently located to a host of popular local attractions, including the bay beaches, the ocean beaches, the bike trail, the Salt Pond Visitors' Center, Arnold's, Wiley's Park, etc. It is in a quiet neighborhood, yet close enough to many attractions.
We arrived for a two week stay right at the beginning of an unusually hot and humid period; and, although air conditioning was not high on my priority list, it proved to be a valuable amenity. Additionally, the house was well stocked with all necessities; the listing description was accurate. For example, the kitchen had every utensil, pot, and pan that we needed. The bedrooms had hampers stocked with extra towels. The layout of the house made it efficient and functional. The oversized upstairs bedrooms were especially convenient for the kids and all their stuff.
Lisa and David's commitment to their renters was evidenced by their response to a problem we had with the clothes washer. During our stay, we found the machine to not run through the washing cycle properly. A couple of calls to Lisa and David brought a quick visit from their local "Handyman" who immediately scheduled a repairman. We were impressed that Lisa and David were able to resolve the situation from a distance and what could have been quite an inconvenience was a non-issue.
When we drove into 40 Pilgrims Path for the first time, our expectations might have been described as cautiously optimistic. As we pulled out of the driveway after our two weeks, we reflected on how our expectations were exceeded.
This was the perfect spot for members of our family who are long-time Eastham summer visitors to introduce new family members to everything this part of the Cape has to offer.
We had plenty of room for three generations -- sleeping, eating on the deck (or in the dining room), even enough bathrooms.
The place was clean and filled with all the amenities anyone would want -- from the Weber for grilling fish and steaks and corn to the beach toys and chairs in the basement.
Yes, we will definitely be back!!
Beach, beach and more beach!! Bike trails, walking paths, independent restaurants, boutiques and shops. Quiet, casual area of Cape Cod perfect for relaxation. Pack shorts, bathing suit and flip flops and you're all set!
Other Activities: kayaking, sea-shelling, bowling, reading, eating, relaxing, yoga on beach
Golf: Hi Lisa,
Just wanted to let you know that we had an outstanding time on our vacation last week. Your house was fantastic and exceeded our expectations. There seemed to be nothing that we could possibly want that was not already there.
Thank you again for all of your advice about the area. Mornings we spent at First Encounter while after naptime the second smaller beach was such a memorable way to end the day. Our families had a truly fantatic time, the only hard part was having to leave.
Thank you for your great hospitality,
