Golf:
There is a golf course near Saintes (20 minutes away) and 3 other courses within 1 hour of La Forge.
Finding Us:
St Malo Ferry - By road from St Malo is largely motorway and is a drive of 4 hours or so in one hop. On a Big map of France the route is pretty clear - St Malo/Rennes/Nantes/Niort and A10 motorway direction Bordeaux. Leave the A10 motorway at Junction 35 (Saintes), join N137 direction Angouleme and Royan, turn right into D138 direction Thenac, turn left into D6. On arrival at Thenac go through village until Y junction with grass island and wooden cross, La forge is the property on your right.
Calais Ferry or Channel Tunnel - It is a long hop from Calais but we have done it in a day with leisurely breaks via Rouen, Le Mans and Tours then A10 motorway. Alternately go via the motorway to Paris and then join the A10 towards Bordeaux. Leave the motorway at Junction 35 (Saintes) and proceed as for St Malo above.
Other channel ports - too numerous to mention but from most ports you will join up with the St Malo route above.
Finding Us (Contd.):
By air: direct flights to La Rochelle, Bordeaux or Poitiers are available from many airports across the UK, Ireland, France and the rest of Europe. From La Rochelle airport head for the N 137 south direction Rochefort, then take A837 until it joins the A10. Leave the motorway at Junction 35 (Saintes) and proceed as for St Malo above. From Bordeaux airport take the A10 motorway north towards Paris. Leave the motorway at Junction 36 (Pons). Take D732 to Gemozac. At Gemozac turn right onto D6 direction Tesson and Thenac. Before entering Thenac village you will come to a Y junction with grass island and wooden cross on your left. La Forge is the property on your left. From Poitiers airport take the A10 motorway south towards Bordeaux. Leave the motorway at junction 35 (Saintes) and proceed as for St Malo above.
By Rail: The French TGV network will deliver you straight to La Rochelle or Bordeaux. From the UK the Channel Tunnel links with the TGV network at Paris or Lille.
