Great location, great price

We just spent four enjoyable days in this apartment, which is exceptionally priced for Venice. The location is excellent -- right off one of the main foot-traffic conduits in the city. Two small grocery stores are mere seconds away, and a larger supermarket is no more than five minutes away. It's 10 minutes to the Rialto Bridge, and 15-20 minutes to St. Mark's -- all with wonderful window-shopping along the way. The apartment itself is cozy, but quite comfortable and more than enough space for four people. A few notes: The master bedroom has a huge wardrobe, if you like to organize your clothes. Kitchen has adequate equipment for cooking (including pots, pans, knives, oven, nice size refrigerator with freezer). Downstairs bath includes a beautiful clothes washer (which is not mentioned in description) and adjacent room for drying. Air-conditioning is in master bed only and is clearly not intended to cool the entire apartment. But at night we closed off both bedroom doors and the bath door, then used a fan to circulate cool air into second bedroom, so all four of us slept well. (Venice is uncomfortably hot in July if you're someone used to living with central air-conditioning!) The complaint about the coffee pot, by the way, is misleading. No, there is not a traditional "Mister Coffee"-style pot, but who needs one when two lovely stove-top espresso makers are provided? Mattresses are firm -- certainly preferable to the saggy ones that can be found in some rentals. All in all, the apartment was tidy and well kept. The key exchange at the start of the stay went off without a hitch, but you will need to have access to a phone to accomplish it. The owner instructs you to take a vaporetto to San Marcuola, but if you don't have a lot of luggage (which we didn't), it's a relatively painless walk from the train station.
