Listen to the waves at our sunny, family friendly cottage recently renovated with hardwood floors throughout, Central A/C, a new 'spa type' bathroom with 6 ft. jetted tub, and a new deck with ample seating. The full kitchen with dishwasher and adjacent family room look out to the fenced yard and large fire pit. We have kept the original arched doorways and cottage style of this year round home, decorating it in a chic beach and garden theme. The large dining room seats up to 10 and the living room is a quiet and comfy place to relax. The master BR is off the dining room and the other 2 BR's are off the LR - away from the kitchen/family room. Access to MULTIPLE BEACHES close by with beautiful and expansive Sugar Sand Shores. The location is between South Haven (13 miles) and Benton Harbor (9 Miles), close to many golf courses, wineries and great shopping. A few restaurants are within walking distance of Cottage. Timber Ridge Ski and Tubing Area is only 45 Minutes away!

Under a 2 1/2 hour drive from the St. Charles, Illinois area and less than 2 hours from Chicago, we are located just North of Benton Harbor and just South of South Haven in the Hagar Shores area of Coloma, Michigan. The house is a short walking distance to beaches (only 1/4 mile to beautiful Sugar Sand Beach), Hagar Bar and Grill, Di Maggio's Italian Restaurant and Vitale's Deli Convenience Market. There is an abundance of Restaurants and Shopping in St. Joseph, Benton Harbor and South Haven. Paw Paw Lake is about 10 minutes away for inland lake activities, accessible through public launches. There are many challenging golf courses within 15 miles or so, the closest being Paw Paw Lake Golf Course. Saugatuck is about 25 miles north of us with great shops, restaurants and fun Dune Buggy Rides. We are in the middle of Wine Country within 30 Miles of 12 Wineries. Timber Ridge Ski Area in Gobles is only 45 Minutes from the Cottage.

  • Holiday Weekends may be at a Higher Rate, call for details.
  • A 50% deposit is required to hold reservation. Balance of rent, damage deposit and cleaning fee due 2 weeks prior to arrival. Damage deposit of $400 will be returned with in 2 weeks of leaving property. Any damages will be subtracted from damage deposit. If extra cleaning is required above the $75.00 cleaning fee, that will be subtracted from the damage deposit. Any theft of property will result in loss of full damage deposit.

Wineries - 12 Of Them Within About 30 Miles: We are centrally located to 12 Wineries in Southwest Michigan, conveniently located within 30 miles or so to all of them. Enjoy a Weekend of Wine Tastings! Purchase a bottle of your favorite and enjoy a glass while watching the Beautiful Sunset at the Beach. (Plastic glasses only on the Beach, please.)

Many Golf Courses To Choose From!: We have quite a few lovely and challenging Golf Courses near by. Next year we anticipate the opening of a tremendous course said to be designed by Jack Nicholas. Paw Paw Lake Golf Course is located on the banks of that lake with a great setting for drinks after the game is finished. Drive up to South Haven to golf Hawk's Head and enjoy their elegant restaurant.

Fall Colors!*!*!: All along Lake Michigan the trees put on an enchanting show of Colors. Walk along the shore or drive out in the country, nature puts on quite a Fiesta! We have many trees on the property that will be changing colors and the pear tree will be ripe for the picking!

Beach Vacation

We had a wonderful stay at this cottage. I chose this particular rental because of the glowing reviews it had received, and those reviews are well deserved. The cottage is tastefully decorated, organized, clean and well-maintained. The kitchen had everything that we needed and there is a nice gas grill out back. We enjoyed many of our meals on the deck.

The best part of our vacation was definitely the private association beach - it was absolutely gorgeous and our kids loved it. We also went to the Curious Kids Museum in St. Joe, Van Buren State Park and Randall Park in Coloma.

The owners are very nice and very easy to work with. They have done a wonderful job of anticipating every need and have created a beautiful beach retreat for their guests.

The Forest and The Beach

This was the first time we decided to stay close to home (we are from the Chicago area) most of our vacations have been far and expensive. Not to add I've owned my own lake home, so I had no idea what I was in store for.. Well it turns out this place is nestled in a private residential wooded setting with 100 foot trees, at first we thought where is this, but we loved it.The place was like home clean, modern and all the creature comforts. We had camp fires and smores, we went on short day sight seeing trips and then yes the private beach, we spent at least 4 hours a day on the beach and walked in the moon light for hours, I thought I was in California but only 2 hours from home, the beach is beautiful. The best part is I got back and I don't owe any one a penny. Couple last things the local Italion hangout has great pizza and meatballs, I met 3 guys I went to grammer school with. Get the week parking pass for $20.00 and drive to the beach it's better then walking and if your lap top is not set up with broadband get it set up before you go or you will have problems accessing the net.
We will be coming back again in the future. Also my wife and I intend on using Home Away when we travel in the future instead of using a hotel. We highly recommend the cottage and the service.Mike&Marcy 8/2009

Fantastic Home Away!!

We had a wonderful time!! The house is organized with well-stocked essentials helpful on vacation such as towels, soap, and tissues. The spacious room in the kitchen, bathrooms, and bedrooms were great.

The kids had a wonderful time playing, swimmimg, talking and toasting marshmallows together. The home is relaxing with a great outdoor grill, child-friendly games, and close proximity to the private beach.

The kids enjoyed the Play Station and TVs even on cloudy, rainy days. The ammenities helped to smooth over the transisitons. From the decorative touches throughout the home to the extra bath towels, the vacation was comfortable and relaxing.

The homewoner is easy to talk to and friendly.

We had a great time and look forward to coming back next year.

Dear Trisha and Jim,
Thank you for the rental of 'The Beach Cottage"
It was just perfect. It offered everything you could possibly need on a vacation.
It was very comfortable and the beach theme decor was perfect for the location. It was clean, well maintained and organized.
The fact that is was in the middle of the wine trail made it perfect to venture to a few wineries and a day.
The beach and its amenities were great. The sunsets were fabulous.
I have recommended this to many friends and hope to return next year.

Coloma Summer Fun

Our family had a great time. The house had everything we needed. The owners were very helpful when we had questions where to find things in the area. We had kids of several different ages and they all liked the house and especially loved the beach. The beach is very open and uncrowded. The area is somewhat rural but everything you need is fairly close. The kids brought boogie boards and had a great time in the waves. Make sure you go down to the beach at sunset for a beautiful view. There seemed to be something for everyone: fun activities, quiet relaxation and good food close by. We hope to go back next year!
