Bob and I wanted to thank you for taking such good care of us on our recent visit to Buenos Aires.
Right from the moment we met your at the airport your knowledge of the city and its history enhanced our visit.
We especially enjoyed the day we spent with you touring the city using public transport. Lunch at the local restaurant was a highlight. Our comfort with the bus and subway system after that day really allowed us the freedom to tour the city on our own.
The tango show and the river cruise were both wonderful. We appreciated your help in arranging the tours.
The apartment was wonderful. It allowed us to spend some wonderful time with the kids that just wouldn't have been possible if we had rented hotel rooms. San Telmo was wonderful - the Sunday market, the area restaurants were highlights of our stay.
Thanks for your time and great care while we were in Buenos Aires.
Bob & Vivian
Our group of three stayed in this beautiful San Telmo apartment prior to our dove hunting trip in Cordoba. Everything is walking distance...The huge market Sunday on Defensa was only a block away and we ate at two of the best steak restaurants in the area (Gran Parilla Del Plata and La Brigada) both within walking distance. The apartment's WiFi was great and we were all able to receive our emails and communicate with work/home while being gone; It was also nice with the Vonage line which allowed us to call back home when needed. Ruben, their local contact, was a wonderful help and he gave us a great overview and even helped us exchange our USD for Pesos. The owners are easy to work with and very flexible as we had to check in early and check out late to make this work! Highly Recommended - I will use them when I come back with my wife for a BA visit.
Our group of three business men enjoyed an amazing 10 days from 30 August to 8 September. Janet could not have been more accommodating to our schedule and so very helpful in getting arrangements and details worked out. The place was everything that was promised and more. So many thoughtful details (110 volt, washer and dryer, larger refrigerator, dish washer, lots of hot water, wiFi, Vonage to call clients and home etc.). The location is fantastic to get to transportation as well as the market (Quilmes 6.9, cheese, fresh fruit and vegetables), amazing food, beverages, coffee etc. etc. are all around. The balcony is a great perch to sit and watch the goings on of the neighborhood each evening after our days of travel throughout BA. It was always our location to enjoy appetizers before going out (sociably late) for dinner at local restaurants eating the best rib eye ever and drinking the best red wines and visiting with locals.
And the added bonus is of course Ruben. We had him fix a meal for us one night and take us to the best steak house in town on another. To be honest, Ruben beat the steakhouse for the most amazing meal. The combination of a meal never to be forgotten and his remarkable knowledge of South America makes for evenings of lively conversation and a much greater depth to your travel experience. Don’t miss the opportunity to have at least one private dinner by Ruben and do it early in your stay because you will likely want to do it again. Ruben steered us to the best leather shops to get gifts for our wives (the European leather in the best shops is amazing and resulted in many smiles upon our return). Also the places for empanadas, pasta and even travel to Colonia (and what to look for while there). He also was incredibly helpful with money exchange (best rates anywhere).
In short the combination of a great place to stay, exceptional personal assistance and the current exchange rate made for the most amazing stay. We’ll be back with family and friends in the future!
Our group of six adults spent two weeks living in this lovely apartment. It occupies the top floor and is quiet and spacious. High ceilings and equally high windows fill the living space with light. We cooked dinners in the kitchen and dined at the dining room table. The fireplace provided warmth and plenty of seating when we returned from adventures in the cool of the Buenos Aires winter. Each couple also had their own bedroom and bathroom so privacy was easily guaranteed. The apartment had everything we needed, including blow dryers and an iron.
The location is excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed living in San Telmo. The neighborhood has restaurants both for coffee or lunch and for excellent dinners. The best meals we had in the city were in restaurants within easy walking distance from the apartment. It is also very close to Porto Madero where some of us walked and some ran every morning without the worry caused by traffic. San Telmo contains antique shops, museums, a wonderful market, grocery stores, and all that we needed for our everyday needs.
Finally, we rented the apartment largely because the reviews noted the assistance of Ruben. None of us speak Spanish and were a bit nervous about that. Ruben was actually out of the country during our stay. His substitute, Andy, was fabulous. He not only answered every question, helped us arrange travel outside of the city, accompanied us on those travels when we requested, but he also listened carefully to our individual interests and help us explore those. The owner was also tremendously helpful as we planned for the trip and was clearly invested in our having a successful trip.
My family and I stayed at this beautiful San Telmo apartment during our recent trip to Buenos Aires. The unit is very well equipped with everything you need and fit our party of six more than comfortably. Even better than the apartment was the assistance and hospitality of Ruben. From the moment Ruben picked us up at the airport he ensured all our needs were met. In addition to the providing transportation and setting up tickets for shows, Ruben gave us an amazing tour of the City using the public transportation system. Not only did this tour provide us the tools to navigate the city on our own during the rest of our stay, but due to Ruben's incredible wealth of knowledge about Argentina we recived an in depth history lesson along the way. I couldn't have asked for a better trip and would recommend the combination of this apartment and Ruben to anyone planning a trip to Buenos Aires.
We just returned from 10 days in this great apartment. It is spacious enough for eight adults to be together for dinner or talking and yet everyone could have their own private space as well. The kitchen is great and we took advantage of the local foods three times to make our own Parilla!
The property manager is Ruben and frankly we all want to return just to spend more time with him and to have more of his great cooking! We were greeted at the airport by him, he showed us the apartment, gave us an amazing tour of the city and was helpful in just too many ways to list. He found us a tango show, tango lessons with Alejandro Puerta (a must) and a wine shop Vinotango (the best wine selection and ask the owner to sing for you).
The place was immaculate, well stocked with kitchen and household items, having 110 available was real advantage to our group of i-pad lovers. The wifi really made us feel at home.
The location in San Telmo made you feel immediately that you were a local. Everything from great bars, restaurants, shopping and sightseeing are within walking distance. The buses are also close by for those trips to other parts of the city.
If you are a family or a group of friends this is a great place to stay!
We (three adults and one teenager) stayed at this San Telmo apartment for 11 days in December 2011. The apartment was a perfect pied-a-terre for us to relax after long walks and excursions or to do a bit of work on the computer. We found it exactly as described on the website. The apartment is generously sized in a beautiful old building, nicely renovated, well maintained and very comfortable. As far as amenities, it is not missing anything. We loved that it was outfitted with 110V and US type sockets and a station that allowed us to charge our various iphones, ipods and ipads at night. It is close to many restaurants. Bus stops are only a couple of blocks away and the orange bike rental is right around the corner. Having rented this apartment on Carlos Calvo made our stay so much more pleasurable. We would recommend this place to anyone traveling to Buenos Aires.
This elegant, bright and airy San Telmo apartment is surrounded by antique shops, restaurants, and milongas (tango clubs). It's great for friends traveling together. The neighborhood: Old world charm meets trendy shopping, restaurants and nightlife. Located in the heart of the action - only a block from Plaza Dorrego (site of the famous Sunday Art and Antique Fair) - and three blocks from Puerto Madero (tons of waterfront restaurants, nightclubs, and even an Ecological preserve!). You can safely walk to everything. See our website at for a map and list of nearby restaurants and attractions.
