The Retreat at Pipestem is a 10 acre secluded property, directly adjacent to Pipestem State Park and Resort. It offers the quietness and solitude of being deep in the woods, away from it all, and yet has all the activities the beautiful State Park has to offer close at hand. Some, such as swimming, fishing, hiking, golf and dining are only 10 to 15 minutes away by foot. We offer three luxury cabins, varying in size from 1200 to 1800 square feet. They offer spacious porches, beautifully wooded views of sunrise and sunset and are as very well fitted out, with spacious kitchens, AC, good heating, high quality mattresses and anything else you would expect. The area around Pipestem offers extensive activities, many at walking distance from the Retreat and others within a short drive.

Fishing: Fishing around Pipestem is excellent year around, but Smallmouth Bass / Bronzeback fishing in October, November and December is phenomenal. Guided float fishing tours are available in the area. We are close by the New River, Greenbrier and Bluestone river and Lake.

There are numerous streams and stocked ponds where you can fish for Trout. Fly fishing in the New River is year around.

Hunting: Southern West Virginia is an excellent area for hunting. Numerous public and private hunting grounds surround Pipestem. Species such as Deer, Turkey, Grouse, and lots of other species are plentiful. On our website we have a link to the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources which gives you all the information you will need, such as how to apply for out of state licenses etc.

Golfing: Right behind The Retreat at Pipestem, is the beautiful 18 hole Golf Course of the Pipestem State Park and Resort. The fees are very reasonable, and can be found at their website.

The area around Pipestem offers numerous activities. Not only is Pipestem State Park with all it's activities, such as golf, horseback riding, shopping, hiking and many more within walking distance, one only has to go a bit further and within a few miles there is so much more to do.

Wild water rafting, hunting, fishing for trout and bronzeback, a day trip to the Greenbrier resort. Step back in time and go antiguing in the small towns or have an evening in one of the few outdoor cinemas left in the country.

Golf: Pipestem State Park offer a full golf course for very reasonable prices. The golf course is about one mile away.

Ski: WinterPlace ski resort is about 35 minutes away

Payment is usually accepted in the quoted currency (US Dollar) unless the currency and the amount is specifically agreed in advance with the owner / advertiser.

  • All taxes are included in the price.
  • All our rates DO INCLUDE ALL TAXES. (6% sales tax and 6% Hotel tax) What you see published is what you pay.
    The only add-ons will be a $60 cleaning fee, and if you bring pet(s) we do charge $10 a day, with a $35 minimum.
    There is temporary charge for a fully refundable $150 security deposit.
    From half June till half Agust, we will rent by the week only.
    Three night minimum stay during holiday weekends and a two night stay during remainder of the year.
    $15pppn for more than 8 persons.
  • Cabin rates vary between $130 - 200 / week night, $150 - 215 weekend night and $850 - 1250 / week, depending on which cabin.

  • The master bedroom in this cabin is upstairs, together with a smaller bedroom. These rooms share a big bathroom, featuring a tiled shower, clawfoot tub, double vanity and a seperate toilet. The master is very spacious. The third spacious bedroom is on the lower level, which allows a maximum of privacy. This bedroom, has a bathroom with a shower, vanity and toilet.

Beautiful Vacation Spot

We stayed in the West Virginian cabin (there are two cabins on the property). The photos don't do the place justice. The rooms are large, light-filled, and thoughtfully furnished. My husband liked the lower level den, and the wraparound, gated porch and walkout lower level are perfect for dogs. The kitchen is fully furnished, and the dining room offers beautiful views of the woods and mountains. The secluded country road is perfect for jogging and walking the dog, too. Pipestem State Park is literally next door, with its golf courses, hiking trails, lake, swimming pools, and fine restaurants, and Bluestone State Park is just a few miles away. There is something for everyone here; large groups will appreciate the privacy offered by the three levels in this cabin. The cabin was spotless when we arrived and the owners pleasant to work with. We highly recommend the Retreat at Pipestem!

Wonderful Log Cabin

We really enjoyed our stay, the cabin was wonderful and in a great location. The weather was not great, but there was still plenty to do. The only thing missing from the cabin was a fireplace. Very easy to book and pay the owners were very helpful.
