Nice House, Extremely Loud Location

While this property was very nice and equipped with a small pool in which to cool off, I was disappointed that we were not told of construction work being done just across the way from our house. The huge construction equipment being used made for an extremely loud stay. Granted, we did go out sightseeing quite a bit, but the noise started before we were awake and did not end until late afternoon (5PM). In that sense, the description of the house on Home Away ("located in the quiet neighborhood of Chocolate Hole..."") did not meet our expectations and was out and out wrong. Small touches would have been nice. (my night table lamp did not work and a handle on the kitchen window was broken, allowing bugs to get in.). If you are visiting St. John, I would recommend a property on the other side of the island instead; while closer to town, it's just too loud here for my taste.
Owner's Response: We are sorry about the noise but the worst of it is over. The house sits on a hill overlooking a site where a luxury resort is being constructed. All of the surrounding homeowners have contacted the developer and been informed that the noisy earthwork is nearing its end. As far as the items mentioned that needed to be replaced they are in the process. We have never requested that the people who have wholly enjoyed the house take time to comment but we are asking a few of them to do so now.
