Photos and Description of the Gloucester - Annisquam vacation cottage rental 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps 5-7

Endless Summer is a beautiful ocean-front cottage in a quiet Lanesville neighborhood. The beach is large, flat rocks typical of the Northern New England coast. Endless Summer is a relaxing getaway located at the end of a gravel road. The house is less than 50 years old and in great condition. Plenty of large, picture windows: front-seat views of sunsets over Ipswich Bay, preeminent perspective on in-rolling thunder clouds, clear-day views along New England Coast from Northern Massachusetts to Southern Maine. Spacious wrap-around porch. Two bedrooms, each with comfortable queen beds and attached bath. Downstairs has large open area with a twin bed, and a queen-size Aerobed is also provided if additional beds are needed. Washer/dryer, dishwasher, fireplace and gas heat. New living room furniture, wall-mounted flat screen TV, stove and refrigerator. High-speed Internet access and phone (US only) included. Due to the spiral staircase, care should be taken to supervise young children.

Gloucester, founded in 1623, is America's oldest seaport. It is the quintessential New England town. Among the many maritime activities offered by Gloucester are: world class whale-watching expeditions, lighthouse tours, stunning destination beaches, the Gloucester Schooner Adventure, the Cape Ann Historical Museum, fishing and boating opportunities in abundance, excellent seafood restaurants, and a lively nightlife rich with live music and theatre. Lanesville, the particular North-Gloucester neighborhood in which our cottage sits, is known for its freshwater granite quarries, its sunsets over Ipswich Bay, and its remarkable immunity to the unpleasant clutter of industrialization. Rockport is a historical and thriving artist colony. Its local restaurants and art galleries are visited by thousands of tourists each year. Our cottage is only 1 mile from Rockport’s Halibut Point State Park, and 3 miles from its famous Bearskin Neck. We are less than 1 hour from Boston by car.

Further details for this vacation cottage rental in Gloucester - Annisquam, Massachusetts

The Waterfront- Swimming.: The shoreline is made up of large flat rocks. It's good for swimming, especially at mid-tide or higher. The rocky shore makes for great snorkeling- you might even see lobsters! On the sunset waterfront photo, the rock the farthest to the right curves in a backwards c-shape creating what we call 'the bathtub'. You can sort of see it in the picture-- the 'basin' of water just to the left of that rock. That's our favorite place to swim-- you can sit in it when the tide is coming in or out and the basin fills or empties slowly with water. The water here tends to be fairly calm, except on stormy or very windy days, when the waves can get big.

The Waterfront-: At low tide it's fun to explore the shoreline-- tidepools, baby crabs, periwinkle snails, etc. We also enjoy walking along the shore jumping from rock to rock (on the dry parts!!) Also, if sand is what you're looking for, there is a small sand beach just one mile from Endless Summer. The big sandy beaches are about 5 miles.

Nice Sunsets

Tommy A Brick, NJ
Review Submitted: August 26, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We enjoyed our week at Endless Summer. It's a nice quiet location, with a nice view but not that far of a drive to look around and explore. The kitchen was well equipped if you like to cook. The only thing we thought the house could have used were cieling fans. The week we stayed it was sunny, warm and humid and it was a little uncomfortable a few nights even with the floor fans provided. Two or three ceiling fans would have made a big difference.

Beautiful north coast getaway

Review Submitted: March 2, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2008
We had the privilege to stay there and it was greatly enjoyed by our whole family. The house was cozy and clean and had some nice modern amenities like high-speed internet. There is a very neat spiral staircase going from the lower to upper floor, and various Gloucester-related art pieces decorate the walls. The rocky shoreline there was wonderful- picture big, flat rocks that you can lay on to soak up the sun. On a clear evening, the sunset over the water is very beautiful. We enjoyed the large deck which faces the ocean. Sitting out there in the evening and listening to the waves was a highlight, a great spot for those relaxing meals.

Very Nice

TeamB Columbus, OH, USA
Review Submitted: September 23, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
Things we liked:
- the view
- the quiet
- the big screen TV with HD cable
- Wi-Fi
- the water pressure in the showers
- online description was accurate
- owners supplied detailed info on house ahead of time

Things we didn't like:
- no drapes or curtains on top floor
- painters showed up unannounced

Overall this was a very good value. This is a very beautiful part of the country. The cottage has a fantastic view and was clean and very homey feeling. Just about anything you might want or need they had. We would stay there again.

Family friendly

Susan M. Minneapolis, Minnesota
Review Submitted: March 8, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2007
Our family of 8 (plus 1 baby) came together for a family reunion from 3 areas of the U.S. We experienced a wonderful week at this comfortable 2-story home on the ocean. Although there was not the Minnesota sand beach we were familiar with, the flat rocks are a beauty of their own. The newly re-modeled kitchen is large enough so that we didn't get in each other's way as we prepared meals, and had everything we needed. The kitchen had plenty of counter space with a great fridge, microwave, and dishwasher. We ate dinner on the deck most evenings, and the sunset was spectacular every evening. The bathrooms were clean with both a tub and shower head. I loved visiting the little quaint towns and found this location a great place to day trip from. The owners have good maps in a helpful binder full of places to see, and where to eat out. We will definitely return to this home for our annual reunion.

Didn't want to leave!

Review Submitted: March 6, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2007
Our family had a small reunion at Endless Summer last summer for a week - we had a fantastic time and did not want to leave! The cottage is set on pristine property with gorgeous views of the ocean and fun rocks to climb around on. My husband went fishing right off the rocks a few times and he had a great catch one day. An updated kitchen and furniture help make this cottage even better! We cannot wait to get back.
