Post and beam cedar home completed in 2008 and built only 50 feet from the waterfalls of Beech Creek. This unique home is accessed via it's own private bridge and gate. It lies on an 82 acre private estate with over 1/2 mile of stocked Trout waters. Lots of hiking trails as well as easy strolling land. The children will be content swimming, catching crawdads, and roaming the mountain. This will allow you to forget the tourist traps and enjoy the peace and sounds of Beech Creek from the expansive decks. Rain will not keep you indoors as you can enjoy the outdoors from the large covered porch.
The home is located 12 miles from Boone, 10 miles from Banner Elk, 7 miles from Valle Crusis and 7 miles from Beech Mountain.
Also just upstream 'The Old Fisherman's Cottage' is available for rent. ID # 112611
This is the perfect place to get away from it all! You are surrounded by mountains and have a lovely stream running behind the house to lull you to sleep each night. The house is nice, clean, and private, plus you have several acres to roam. Our dogs loved every second of their stay and were worn out each night. My husband fly fished and caught rainbow and brook trout. We plan to go back in the fall when the leaves change. I cannot put into words what a perfect place this is! Glorious!!!
We went up with our grandson for the weekend and then spent 2 more days alone. The house was as advertised but you can not describe the peaceful feeling of being so close to the creek. My grandson wore me out climbing the rocks and jumping in the water. I highly recommend the stay, the down side is going back to work and not constantly thinking why you left so soon.
We had a wonderful stay here and LOVED the property. It was like camping, but in style with a great house!! My two young girls played in the huge yard all day, while we fished at the creek or sat by the fire!! The house is very secluded and quite a distance to any store/restaurant. We enjoyed that about the house, but just FYI.
We had a wonderful stay and hope to be able to make it back there someday!!
We really stayed at this awesome location in July of 2009 but the calendar would only allow us to go back so far.
Everything is perfect about this wonderful place. My kids didn't even want to see other things in the area because they had so much fun in the creek behind the house. And the house itself is perfect - we truly didn't want to leave!
I hope that I can convey in words how beautiful this home and the surrounding are! First, as a woman, the kitchen is to die for!!! Above average appliances, every kitchen gadget you could need and then some and enough dishes, glasses and silverware to feed an army! I could have made all of our favorite dishes just like I do at home and had everything I needed. Not much was said about the bedrooms in the reviews so I was a little worried...got over that REAL quick! Usually our family fights over who is sleeping where, not this time! There was not a bad bedroom in the house! Bathrooms wonderful! My 6'6" husband fell in love with the hot tub and the extra large tub in the master bath. It took me a few days to stop stubbing my toe on the DEEP tub in the loft bathroom but the pain was worth the wonderful soak! Our teenage girls love the "kids" room with the bunk bed and futon, lets not forget the game systems. HUGE hit!
The surroundings are fantastic! Keep in mind that we are a Florida family so just to see mountains is a treat, but because we were so high up we could see snow most days at home and every time we left the house. Close by you can visit Grandfather Mountain and the Mile High Bridge. You can go tubing at Hawks Nest. Shopping at the Tanger Outlets was a big hit. Dont forget the Mast Store! This store is on the National Registry of Historic Buildings and I can see why. I loved walking around the original building just to hear the wood floors creak! And lunch at Dan'l Boone is worth the trip and the wait! We would have liked to have traveld the NC Scenic Route but since we had a 12 hour drive we tried to keep the car time to a minimum.
Outside the house is plenty of room to run with your kids and dogs! If you sit outside quietly towards the end of the day you will see plenty of deer. But we enjoyed walking and listening to the peacful calls and sounds of nature. The stream that runs behind the house is soothing and peaceful. I can see a weeks worth of fun just being at the house if you are there when the weather is warm! I can only imagine how beautiful it looks with all the green everywhere.
Things I would change: Better hangers! And update the listing. It does not do the home justice. One of the best highlights: Patsy! She cares for the property and she checked in to make sure we got there okay, if we needed anything, and answered all of our questions!! She is an Angel!!
Iam ready to book for winter 2013!!
Hi Steve, my wife, our dogs and I stayed at your home in September of 2011. Each year we try to stay somwhere different, this year we stayed at a house that we thought was similiar to yours on a lake in the state of NY. We wanted to let you know that it by far was no where near as nice as your home in any way and was built in 2006. We were looking back at yours and wanted to send you a short note letting you know just how nice your house is.
