'We enjoyed your cottage so much! It was our home and working base for the week of our daughter's wedding. This cottage gave us all a place to be at home-away-from-home. Thank you so much for such a wonderful memory.'
Frank and Kathy - June 2008
We really liked this place. We actually live in Santa Barbara but our house got flooded so we were staying here and we loved it! -May 2008
We had a wonderful time in your cottage while visiting our daughter and sister who lives in Goleta. It was a very special time since we celebrated our father’s 80th birthday. The cottage is a lovely place to stay. It was very warm and cozy. We’ll definitely keep it in mind for the next time. (The Netherlands – Europe) March 20-Ap

My wife & I have lived in Santa Barbara for 29 yrs and invite you to come visit our Charming Cottages. There is no place like Santa Barbara in the world and we think you will agree with us after you have stayed with us in the heart of the Santa Barbara. Known as the American Riviera.
Cherise purchased this house in 2004
Our three Cottages are very charming inside and out. The landscape area surrounding the three Cottages matches the Cottages them selves. The San Roque area neighborhood is a very desirable area for locals to purchase Real Estate because of its family oriented life style and sought after school district. Also its proximity to beaches , shopping and Wine Country. We invested here because of all of these reasons.
Our stay at Hummingbird Cottage was wonderfully relaxing and fun. Hate to say it, but we slept better than at home! NIce quiet neighborhood, convenient to shopping, sites, etc. It was great to sit on front porch and enjoy our morning coffee and to be able to grill fresh fish from the fish market for supper on the back patio. Thanks to the dog friendly policy, we brought our cocker spaniel along. Went to the dog beach one day, too. Fun! The property was exactly as presented in photos and descriptions and the owner was flexible on dates when I wanted to adjust our stay by one day. Santa Barbara is a whole different world from the rest of Southern California...beautiful and uncrowded. I highly recommend a visit and stay at this cozy cottage.
The cottage is so cute and welcoming, everything from the living room to the comfy beds to the relaxing set up on the porch. We felt so removed from the world in this house tucked away from the residential neighborhood. Yet we were close to everything in town. We visited wineries, took a whale watch tour, hiked to Inspiration Point and visited Santa Barbara Mission. Then relaxed at the cottage afterward, enjoying the hot tub. The house was clean, and a washer and dryer were available when we needed it. We felt comfortable and welcome from the start. We hope to return again soon!
This was my first time renting a home property to stay. I am happy to say that The Butterfly Cottage made me feel at home and at ease. It gave me very friendly feeling. I wouldn't be surprised to find a house like this in the Mid West. It was very close to shopping and attractions. What truck me most were the neighbors and people in the area - friendly, open and easy to speak with and laugh. Very much a second family vacation home feeling. I recommend this home to anyone ever wishing to stay in a place where they can kick back in tranquil atmosphere and be close to all the action. Thumbs up from me!
We stayed at the Butterfly Cottage over the 4th of July weekend. The cottage was just as described. Neat clean simple. It was truly serene. The sound of the fountain burbling away and the heady smell of the fragrant flowers made you feel like you were transported to a far corner of Shangri-la. We were in town for a horse show and next year would consider booking the other two cottages in in compound with other riders from our barn. Definitely looking forward to returning
The property owner was so helpful and easy to contact with any questions. I rented the Hummingbird and Butterfly cottages for a weekend in September. The cottages were so clean and had almost everything we needed! The property was absolutely well maintained. My friends and I especially loved the outdoor space because it was so tranquil. The cottages are on a quiet area and really close to shops, the freeway, and State Street. I would definitely stay here again!
My daughter had her wedding at the Four Seasons and my two grown children and I stayed at your cottage. We were entirely disappointed with your place. The décor was outdated and uninviting, much to my dismay as the photos didn't paint a clear picture. The master bedroom was so small the door wouldn't open entirely as the bed was in the way. The rug was old and I wouldn't put anything on the floor. The location was basically out of town, it was a 20 minute drive to meet up with our daughter's wedding party either in town or at the hotel. The three cottages share the washing machine - so one morning there was a woman in our porch doing her laundry. Basically, this cottage was unattractive, remotely located and a huge disappointment. I didn't end up sleeping there the night of the wedding, I couldn't bring myself to go back to it. I wouldn't recommend this cottage to anyone.
Our group was on a botanical tour and after a very long day up from San Diego we were absolutely delighted with our two cottages, Butterfly and Ladybug. They are beautifully maintained, inside and out and have all the amenities you would want in a home-like accommodation.
The group of us are members of APLD, the Association of Professional Landscape Designers and all of us thought the garden was beautifully executed. I would like to say that the number of people the cottages sleep as describes in the listing is for families and/or really close friends. As we were all single, the two cottages slept 6 people with a bit of room sharing. However, the description on the listing is accurate so we were prepared from the outset.
The cottages are in a quiet neighborhood, but not far from any type of shopping you need: grocery (Whole Foods, Albertson's) pharmacy, clothing, etc. We would definitely, absolutely, positively stay there again.
