"We Rented at great expense, all 4 vatican apartments for 1 week. We were very disappointed in what we received. On arrival the apartment was filthy! The owner, was contacted and could only organise a reclean 36 hours later, As we aren't animals and don't live in filth we cleaned the apartments ourselves, but of course, the owner refused to subsidise our costs and time in cleaning, and of course we had already paid a hefty final cleaning bill as part of our contract!
Furthermore, the clothes dryer was not working. we had 5 young children with us in autumn which means we did lots of washing but were unable to dry the clothes!! The owner finally got someone to service it on the last day of our stay and the problem WAS NOT FIXED. The owner continually reminded us that he had spent 35 euro on the service but never acknowledged the fact that for the whole week we had no dryer which was one of the reasons we chose these apartments.
The apartments are below the ground and thus there is always a damp and musty smell to them.
To add insult to injury, The owner had the gaul to attempt to take money out of our bond as there was a small broken handle to the internal freezer in one of the fridges. This was broken when we arrived and yet he would not budge saying that we didn't mention it when we first arrived. It's incredible as if we had to list all the problems and broken things in this apartment, we would have run out of paper. there was a broken couch/sofa bed, 2 broken toilet seats and a broken shower rail just to get started!
For all these issues the owner had excuses, not solutions, and that is the telling point. He never came to the apartments once, he did everything by phone and sent other people.
It was obvious that no money was being spent on these apartments to maintain them to an acceptable standard. I would not stay there again.”
Owner's Response: This client broke a fridge door.At check out,my colleague asked for a refund and was subsequently assaulted by the client.I had to call the Police and file a report (available up on request).The Italian police is currently investigating the matter.For all of my apartment rentals,I grant my guests a cleaning assurance: if they don’t find the apartment as clean as they expected,I have the apartment cleaned again,free of charge.Cleaning is a very important point for me.My cleaning lady was on vacation at that time and it’s true that the apartment was not as spotless as I usually require for my guests.This client arrived late at night and the cleaning lady was there the next morning at 9am.She also fixed,what the client referred to as the “endless” list of problems:1 bulb in the bathroom not working and the baby cot being too hard (the guest misplaced the mattress!).The client sent me a rude email indicating that these issues were taken care of (I will be happy to send a copy to anyone as proof).The client wrote on his review that he “forgot” to add (to the “endless” list of 2 items LOL) that the fridge door was lying on the floor at check out!!No need to answer to this point.The cloth dryer was perfectly working upon this client’s arrival.Two days later,they complained and the next day the technician was there.The client mistakenly moved the water tank.The technician only had to turn it upside down.I have an invoice to show if anybody needs proof.I didn't ask the client for a refund since it was my fault:I didn’t check the dryer before calling the technician.I give all of my guests 24 hour assistance for any issue.My mobile is always on 24 hours a day.You can try calling my number above anytime.All of my guests can call me for free from the land line in the apartment and I always reply to my email very quickly: if you don’t get any answer within 4-5 hours,call me or write me again.I didn't go there to check this particular client in in person because I was on vacation 300 km away from Rome,but the client was informed about this before his arrival.Again,I can send to anybody the email exchange with this client to prove what I’m saying.It’s true that the apartments are in the basement (as clearly written on my website and on the ad) but it’s one more lie that they smell.Please write me or call me if you need any further information about this review and I invite you to read the reviews for my other properties listed on this website.Hope to see you soon!
