Lake Vermilion:
Lake Vermilion is one of the most scenic lakes in the United States. The lake is over 40,000 acres in size, has 365 islands and is over 27 miles in length. The shoreline is only 50% developed--offering many opportunities to view all kinds of wildlife including bald eagles, bear, deer, loons and moose.
The lake offers some of the best fishing including walleye, bass, northern pike and muskie. There is also an award-winning golf course right on the lake, numerous restaurants and Fortune Bay Casino is on the lake. During winter your have access to thousands of miles of snowmobiles trails and excellent ice fishing.
The Boundary Water Canoe Area also borders part of Lake Vermilion.

While in the area, you can visit Ely, Minnesota which is famous for its local shops, the International Wolf Center and the North American Black Bear Center. You can down hill ski at Giants Ridge in Biwabik, enjoy dog sled trips into the Boundary Water Canoe Area, cross-country ski and snowshoe, do a scenic tour of the Superior National Forest, eat near the lake shore at several fine restaurants, visit several historical points-of-interest and take airplane ride and mail boat tours of Lake Vermilion.
