Overview

Coral Bay Villa Rental Photos and Description

Villa, 2 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 4)

High above sleepy Coral Bay on Bordeaux Mountain sits Skyflower, named after the beautiful blue Plumbago which grows in profusion on the property. This newly built 2 BR/3 BA home is in the West Indian style with Great House and bedrooms in separate buildings.

The panoramic views from all rooms are spectacular, overlooking the British Virgins, St Johns East End, and Coral Bay. Skyflower provides an enchanting Caribbean experience and the ultimate in privacy for honeymooners, two couples, or a small family.

The Great House provides dining and entertainment space and a separate, two story building houses two equal size bedrooms and baths. 1500 square feet of deck unites the buildings into one indoor/outdoor living space.

The kitchen is a fully equipped 'cooks' kitchen with stainless appliances, marble countertops, quality utensils, and good lighting. Dining is inside on an antique family dining table or 'al fresco' under the covered deck.

Separation of the bedrooms from the Great House and from one another assures privacy for all guests. On the same level as the Great House the upper bedroom has a king sized, hand carved mahogany four poster bed with comfortable bath with a door to the private outdoor shower.

The downstairs bedroom with adjoining living area is accessed by an outside staircase. This bedroom has 2 twin beds which can be joined to make up as a king. A lovely bath opens unto a tiled garden shower.

You have got to see this for yourself because words (and pictures) do not do this place justice!

My wife & I, in addition to another couple, just returned from our trip to St John. I had never booked a home through VRBO before and we had never been to the USVI or the Caribbean, let alone to St John. I can honestly say that looking back; I would not change a thing. We booked Skyflower for multiple reasons and I am happy to report that it did not disappoint. From the amazing views, to the beautiful home, to the expansive decks; I fully expect that we will be back and when we do, I no longer need to look for another house to rent. This pleasant experience began when I first contacted the property manager through VRBO to inquire about renting Skyflower for a week. The property manager answered all of our questions and made the process of reserving this home very easy and painless. Since this was my first time renting a home through VRBO, I was a bit nervous about it too, but working with the property manager set me right at ease. His communications were very quick and helpful. When we finally arrived in St John, he met us in town, took us to the house, and was available our entire stay if needed. Once we got to the house, the views took our breath away; you can see quite a bit from this elevation. We all loved the layout of the home too. It provided both couples with great places to gather in the main living area or on the deck, but it also provided ample privacy in the separate master bedroom and in the second master suite on the lower level. This property would work well for a family with a couple of children too. I can only sing praises to Skyflower and our experience staying here. It was very clean, well designed, and well decorated too. It was also great to have access to a washer and dryer during our stay to wash bath towels & beach towels. If you decided to book this home, you will not regret it! My only suggestion would be to pack a few warm clothes in addition to your shorts and flip flops; it can get a bit chilly at night, especially with the breeze on top of Bordeaux Mountain. Personally, I was fine in a t-shirt and shorts, but my wife would usually throw on a light sweater at night along with a pair of sweat pants. Of course, you could always just hop in the hot tub too if you prefer!

Wow! Amazing! Fantastic!

We spent a fantastic week in Skyflower! Upon arriving on St. John and getting our rental Jeep for the week, we were met by Marc Miller, the property manager, who guided us from Cruz Bay over to Coral Bay and up Bordeaux Mountain to Skyflower. The villa was amazing. The view from 1000 feet up was even better in person. The cool wind/breeze kept us comfortable all of the time. When we would come back to the villa at the end of a fun-filled day on St. John, we would open the doors and windows, and it would be cool in just a few minutes. We never cooked a meal in the villa, but the coffee make worked great each morning, allowing us to enjoy our coffee from the deck, enjoying the wonderful views of St. John's east end, as well as the plethora of BVIs in the distance. The refigerator also kept our drinks and snacks cool. We also enjoyed being able to wash our beach and bath towels as well as our dirty clothes in the great washer and dryer located on the 2nd level. The outdoor shower was great! I really can only say wonderful things about Skyflower. It's obvious that the owners take great pride in this villa. We loved the electronic gate and the level, paved driveway that had plenty of space for multiple vehicles (even though we only had the one Jeep). We loved waking up each morining to watch the sun rise from our bed view. We also loved the hot tub in the evenings/nights to soothe any aches and pains we may have gotten from our active days hiking trails or snorkeling. Of course the week went by way too fast. If and when we ever come back to St. John, we will definitely be staying at Skyflower again.

We Like It. We Love It. We Want Some More of It.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I have stayed in four different houses on St John and this is by far our favorite. These are a few of our favorite things (in no particular order):

Breakfast and coffee on the covered porch while soaking in the view.

Enjoying rum drinks and the view from the hot tub after a long day of snorkeling.

Well equipped kitchen for preparing delicious dinners. Can't go out after all that rum.

Going to sleep at night to the sounds of Mother Nature.

Waking to the spectacular view as the morning sun creeps through the sliding doors.

Easy access to all that we love in and around Coral Bay.

Separate living spaces that allow for privacy when others join us for the week.

Greater sense of security due to gate and being higher on the mountain.

Clear nights and rum drinks in the hot tub.

Feeling your troubles and stress melt away.

And the view!

The running joke during our stay was that the owners thought of EVERYTHING. It's funny because it is true. We love this house and look forward to returning. Also, it has a pretty nice view.

Paradise found!

After an exhaustive search of villa rental listings we chose Skyflower based on the pictures of the view. It did not disappoint! Our visit was actually the greeter's first glimpse of Skyflower and even he was amazed. We stood on the deck together and just kept saying WOW! On our way up to Skyflower we saw many extremely steep driveways but arrived to our destination to find a gated and level driveway. Upon entering the villa, we felt instantly at home as the furnishings are lovely, comfortable and inviting. The whole house opens up to the incredible view and constant breezes through sliding doors. The pictures online cannot capture the magnitude of the amazing view and it was one "pinch-me" moment after another for the whole week. Since there was just two of us, we had the upper level of the villa. The master bedroom is in a separate pod from the kitchen/living/dining areas. The comfortable and huge four-post bed is situated to capture the view. We awoke each morning to amazing sunrises that brought instant smiles to our faces and sent us scurrying to get the camera. The master bathroom includes an outdoor shower that also opens up to the view. The entire villa is very private and felt very safe. We slept with the sliders open at night and listened to the tree frogs serenade us as we fell asleep. There were constant breezes and along with the ceiling fans we were actually under blankets by morning, so no need for A/C. Skyflower is very well equipped for gourmet cooking and we enjoyed most of our meals at the villa. The outdoor grill seemed new and worked well. The hot-tub was wonderful and we spent part of each evening enjoying the view from its warm, crystal clear water. The property itself has beautiful landscaping and we enjoyed looking at all the tropical plants. So much thought was put into the entire villa and site! Skyflower will be our first choice for future trips and we enthusiastically recommend it.

Incredible view matched by incredible home

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from 10 amazing days and nights high atop Coral Bay at Skyflower. My fiance and I have visited St. John for the past four years, and Skyflower is BY FAR the best rental house we have enjoyed. The views are simply breathtaking, and the house was equally spectacular. Having the living area separate from the bedrooms provided a lot of privacy. We rented both upstairs and downstairs, which worked well since we had two friends traveling with us. There is a TON of outdoor deck space, and the hot tub was a great bonus for when we relaxed at home. We were amazed at the details of the home - clearly the owners take great pride in their property. It had everything we needed and then some, including unexpected items like a first-aid kit and binoculars to better inspect our view. The three outdoor showers were amazing. Everything was very clean, and we encountered very few bugs given the home's position at the top of the mountain. The breezes at night kept us cool, and we enjoyed spectacular sunrises every morning. The photos do not do the home justice - it was hundreds times better than we expected. We highly recommend Skyflower to parties of 4 not afraid of a steep climb up a paved road. The home is located close to Coral Bay's restaurants, and a short drive from the island's best beaches. We hope to be back at Skyflower - and will remember our vacation, the views, and the beautiful home for a long time. Thank you.

Truly Heaven

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I are currently staying in SKYFLOWER. We are recently retired but still very much adventuresome. Let me begin this review by stating that this Villa is beyond wonderful. We have been visiting St. John for 25 years and have never stayed in a better Villa. The view is absolutely breathtaking. Literally! As a private pilot, I estimate the altitude of the Villa to be 1000 feet above sea level. We can see Tortolla, Jost Van Dyke, Peter Island , Norman Island, and Sandy Cay just to name a few. The road to the Villa is completely paved which makes for an easy climb. It takes about 10 minutes to drive to Skinny Legs. I recommend a 4x4, although we have yet to engage it (we are driving a Jeep Liberty). Before arriving, we wondered if no air conditioning would be an issue. I'm happy to report it's not. Due to the altitude, the temperature is cooler than ground level. Also, there is ALWAYS a breeze up here. Even if we had a/c, we would not use it. The furnishings are first class as are the linens. Everything is squeaky clean. The Villa has a large flat screen television which appears to be new (LG). Also has a surround sound system. The kitchen is superior and has everything one could want. The hot tub is clean and is wonderful to use. Again, it is very clean and the water is gin clear with appropriate chemicals. The Villa has its own laundry room with washer and dryer. The downstairs suite is as nice if not nicer than the main house. The views from suite are as breathtaking as from main house. The Villa enjoys an electric gate which keeps goats and donkeys out (as well as uninvited guests). Also, the Villa comes with beach chairs (new), coolers, binoculars, books, games, etc. the outside decks are massive and we spend most of our time on them. Due to the altitude, NO MOSQUITOES! Yay!! Lastly, the Villa is 100% private. You cannot see another house which makes it nice. In closing, I can enthusiastically give SKYFLOWER 2 thumbs up!! FIVE STARS. You do not need to look further because you absolutely cannot find a nicer Villa.
