The nearest village is Duras with its fascinating chateau. The picturesque town comes alive in the summer with weekly events such as the wine festival, antiques fairs and night markets. There is a lively market on Monday mornings
Le Rieutord is close to Bergerac, where, in addition to its wines is an important tobacco growing centre and in the old town you can visit both the tobacco and wine museums. The town is very busy in the summer months with Saturday (a.m.) and Wednesday (all-day) markets. With is an excellent choice of open-air eateries.
St. Émilionis best known for its wines, St. Émilion, is also a beautiful medieval town and a World Heritage Site. Take a guided tour from the tourist office; enjoy the view from the bell tower. Wine lovers can arrange tastings and tours (also at the tourist office).
