Big Island Activities:
The Big Island of Hawaii is almost twice the size of the rest of the islands combined, so give yourself plenty of time to enjoy it. You can enjoy helicopter tours, airplane tours, van tours, ATV tours, snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing, surfing, boogie-boarding, wind-surfing, water-skiing, para-sailing, jet-skiing, kayaking, hiking, walking, running, tennis, golf, whale-watching, sightseeing, petroglyph tours, luaus, taking in the sun, coffee plantation tours, deep-sea fishing, horse-back riding, fine dining, swimming adventures with dolphins or manta rays... the possibilities are endless. A visit to the Volcanoes National Park is definitely unforgettable with its other-worldly mix of volcano tubes and lava flows. A drive up to Mauna Kea, the highest point on the island, with its observatory, is spectacular. The Waipeo Valley, its lush landscape and sheer cliffs, will give you a first hand glimpse of the coastline filmmakers have made famous.
New Shopping Area:
The Queen's Marketplace, located across the street from the King Shops, recently opened in October 2007. The 135,000 square feet of upscale retail, restaurants and services will feature a 20,000 square foot gourmet grocery store. There will be an entertainment coronation pavilion set amongst the common area where local keiki halau and kupuna alike will show their graceful moves while shoppers and diners meander through the unique boutiques and name brand retailers. Also, Tommy Bahama recently opened a store in the King Shops retail area.
