About The Sirkin Family

We are 4 siblings who grew up spending summers, holidays, ski breaks and many wonderful gatherings of friends and family at this classic New England house. Our mom bought the property when I was a baby. Three of us now live on the West coast and my sister Susannah lives in Boston. She is pictured here between the 2 lovely daughters of our caretaker, Lisa.

The Sirkin Family purchased this farmhouse in 1961

Why The Sirkin Family chose Crescent Lake

Our parents both have New England roots, on our mother's side going back to the Pilgrims, and our father was born in Vermont. Our dad was a US diplomat and we lived in Washington, DC when our mom went looking for a place to have as a New England base for the family. The property was just what she was looking for; a charming old colonial era house down the end of a dirt road on 100 acres, outside a quaint historic town, with a gorgeous lake and skiing nearby.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Peace and tranquility, rustic antique charm, lovely private swimming pond, birch trees, nearby lake, hiking, skiing, and boating.

The house was very clean and accommodated a group of six with plenty of room to spare. We slept comfortably and cooked every meal in the large kitchen or on the grilling deck. The property is amazing and much bigger than the pictures reveal. The pond is clean and perfect for a refreshing swim. The backyard was perfect for soccer games. I honestly can't wait to go back!

Warm, cozy, clean and inviting!

  • 5 of 5
We had a four night stay at the Sirkin New Hampshire retreat. It was an absolute delight. The house had everything we needed for cooking, lounging around the house and sleeping. We swam in the pond on the property, canoed in Crescent lake, hiked in the woods, played soccer and croquet. Every night we ate dinner on the screened in porch looking out onto the beautiful view of perfect pond. We enjoyed fresh veggies from Hemingway Farms which is just beyond Claremont. We also had the chance to eat fresh baked pizza from a brick oven at the General Store down the road. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping and we were so happy to be there enjoying it. We will surely be back!

Nostalgic New Hampshire Summer Home

  • 5 of 5
This is a special place. The grounds are beautiful, spacious, private with many activities. The house is spotless, has everything you could need and plenty of space. I picked apples from the tree and made an apple pie. There are also large blueberry bushes on the property. The owner and caretaker were great and very accommodating. The swim hole was refreshing and fun with seating and and fire pit. There are so many great spots to sit, relax, read, eat on the property and in the house. We went to the areal obstacle course at Mt Sunapee where they also have zip lines and putt putt and there are two towns each about 20 minutes away with nice restaurants and shops. The owners also have a dock on the lake with a canoe and row boat. This place is great for families with children, those who want to get away from it all or a group of friends looking to catch up.

best family vacation in years

  • 5 of 5
I hesitated to write a review. I want to keep this special place a secret:-) It is truly wonderful here. We have been renting houses and cabins for family vacations for a number of years and have finally found a place to put down our vacationing roots. You can find just about any little neccesities and extras here. it's the most thoughtfully stocked vacation house i've ever been to. We had myself, my husband and 2.5 year old son, plus an auntie and grandparents. There are 2 bedroom downstairs, perfect for 2 people who don't do stairs and among 4 bedrooms upstairs was a giant sleeping loft for children complete with a Brio train set! We picked herbs for dinner and blueberries for breakfast everyday, swam and sunned in the back yard and relaxed on the screened in porch. The Sirkin family was very responsive to our questions and it was nice knowing Lisa, the caretaker, was down the road. We hope our family is lucky enough to find ourselves, healthy and happy in your beautiful house for many summers to come.

Country Charm, All the Conveniences.

  • 5 of 5
Our professional association rented this home in lieu of staying at some resort because we wanted multiple meeting spaces, the ability to cook and continue to meet and some open air options. This home fit the bill. It was very clean, stocked with all the pots, pans, linens, pillows, blankets, spices you could want. Everything was comfortable, wood for a fire on a chilly evening, charcoal grill, lots of outdoor space to meet (the upper deck was our favorite).

Lisa the caretaker was a great help checking in with us on Friday and back Sunday to make sure we were all set--but not to rush us out at all!

There were even fresh herbs growing right outside the kitchen door, bug spray, a screened porch. We had some great meetings, had nice space to have smaller one-to-one conversations and took a walk. Our only complaint is that we didn't schedule enough time for a dip in the lake!!

We would definitely rent this home again. You get more than space, you get the love and good energy as well.

Total perfection

  • 5 of 5
I drove up here from NYC with ten friends for a weekend of skiing, cooking, and relaxing. The house was simply perfect. Every room is decorated with great thoughtfulness, for an antique old New England feel that’s exquisitely tasteful and supremely comfortable at the same time. You can instantly tell that you’re in a well-loved and expertly maintained family getaway.

There was space for everybody. The long dining table was ideal for group meals and lingering after dinner, and the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed for cooking. With a fire crackling in the fireplace, the living room was warm and cozy, just the right size for unwinding after a day on the slopes.

And Mount Sunapee is my new favorite mountain in the Northeast—great runs, great snow, great food, inexpensive tickets (especially with advance purchase), unpretentious local feel, and very convenient to the house.

The rooms look just like in the photos, only better. Everything was in order, and the property manager was very accessible. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anybody who wants to connect with family or friends in this cozy, lovingly maintained, historic, and comfortable home.
