Spring Vacation in Lake Placid, FL
Date of Stay: Mar 2008
We were looking for a quiet getaway in South Florida where we could take our ski boat. We made an excellent choice with this property. Although, it is not directly on the lake it is on a deep canal that connects to Lake June. There is a nice dock and lift on the property, but we decided to tow our boat a short 3.5 miles to the public boat ramp. We used the house dock for relaxation and fishing, and then water skied on Lake June. We were also looking for a safe and quiet neighborhood to run and ride bikes. This and the surrounding neighborhoods were both quiet and safe. Overall, the house was great and met our needs. A few high points: Clean; newly remodeled master bath and kitchen; great appliances; kitchen well stocked; TV's in all rooms (although a bigger TV in the den area would have made it perfect); excellent A/C; ceiling fans in all rooms; comfortable and clean beds; nice tile floors; clean and nice hot tub in the lanai area; grill for backyard barbeques; a vacant lot beside the house where we played catch/frisbee with our daughter; A two car garage with screen; nice driveway with plenty of room for a vehicle and boat; washer/dryer; nice towles and lines provided; and wireless internet to use our laptops. The property owner provided excellent customer service and the property is well-maintained. The owner provided detailed and accurate information on the rental agreement related to directions, property "to-do's" upon arrival and departure, and some area tips. We would highly recommend this property to others, especially if you are looking for a quiet family vacation where you can enjoy boating, skiing, and family time at an affordable and nice house fishing, barbequeing, hot tubbing, etc.. Most restaurants are in Sebring, which is about a 15-20 minute drive, although, there are some local favorites in Lake Placid. Lake June is a big, round, beautiful lake with clean water. It was very windy when we were there, but we were able to find a calm shoreline for skiing. There is also plently of water depth in Lake June, which I learned may not be true for all the lakes and canels in this area. If we returned to this area we would rent this house again. The only downside for us with this property was we would have preferred "deadbolt" style locks on the doors and possibly a bigger TV in the den, although the TV provided was a great TV with DVD/VHS. Also, the neighborhood is safe and the locks are probably very adequate.

Owner's Response: This comment had very good constructive criticism as well as detailed praise, which we greatly appreciated! So much so that there is now a new flat screen 37" TV in the family room, replacing the 27", (which my wife has also been lobbying me to replace)and all door hardware have been replaced and look great, including the addition of 5 single dead bolt locks, for psychological security. Our thanks again to our guest, Gotta Run!
