The main level includes an open fully-equipped kitchen/dining room/living room with a fireplace and sliding glass doors to an 80 foot wraparound deck; 1 bedroom; full bath; and washer/dryer. The lower level includes a family room; fireplace; and bar with beverage refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. Sliding glass door opens to patio below deck. Lower level also includes 1 bedroom, a sleeping den, and full bathroom. We are "old" friends from eastern Long Island & the Finger Lakes who had been getting together to ski at Lapland for several years now - two of us for 14+ years. A few years ago, when our numbers increased to four, & our favorite B&B closed, we began renting houses for the weekend.
This year, we were very lucky to stay in Doc's Place & it was absolutely wonderful!
The location right in Northville & being directly on the lake couldn't have been better. We were even able to walk to dinner at our favorite restaurant in town - Timeless Tavern. Our view of Sacandaga was awesome, especially with the roaring fires we had in the woodburning fireplace each night. The house was cozy, quiet, & fully equipped, & we had everything we needed.
If you go, be sure to read about the history of Northville & Northampton in the many books you will find at the house. There really was a "Doc." Find out all kinds of stuff about him around the house.
We skied, we walked out on the lake, we snowshoed ,we went shopping & sightseeing, and our hosts couldn't have been nicer - even letting us check in early & check out late, since the house was not otherwise occupied.
For a winter getaway, you can't go wrong!

Doc's Place is GREAT!

We have been vacationing at Doc's for four years it is simply the best location and the roomiest home. We enjoy the two story home as we vacation with another family. The kids enjoy swimming off the dock, roasting smores by the campfire, and playing games in the dining room. We have enjoyed BBQing and eating on the deck as there is an awesome view of the sunset and the boats heading in and out of Northville. They have so many ammenities for people to use while there from life jackets to sand toys for the kids. We will be returning next year and hope to continue the tradition for years to come. I would definitely recommend renting Doc's Place on the Lake for the perfect summer retreat. Maybe we should try a winter getaway too as the pictures of the lake that time of year look beautiful, we know the inside would be nice because of the huge stone fireplace in the living room...luckily we haven't had to use that on summer vacation! The weather seems to cooperate every year. A+ all the way!

Amazing memories!!!!

We LOVE Doc's Place! We come from California every summer to stay at the most beautiful, cozy, relaxing house on the lake. We stay at Doc's with extended family from Virginia and New Jersey. Our children range from ages 4 to 18 years old and they are never bored. There is so much to do for the kids as well as the adults. We love to swim off of the dock in the refreshing lake, take the paddle boat out for a cruise, and play games at the big dining room table while looking out at the lake. There is so much room for our 6 children to run around and explore all day. We love to sit by the fire pit or lounge on the huge deck at the end of a perfect day. We also love the easy walk to the shops, restaurants, and playground. Jane, Gary, Bill, and Laurie are such attentive owners that always make us feel very comfortable. We are already planning and looking forward to our reunion at Doc's place next year.

Doc's Rocks

This was our 4th year at Doc's place. We go with another family and all together we are five adults and five kids. We look forward to this trip every summer. The location is great. We can walk to the playground, leave the boat on the dock, build a fire next to the house.

We love the ability to walk into town, whether it is a trip to the Grand Union or ice cream at Stewart's. The house is so spacious.

As our kids get bigger they find more and more to do at Doc's. This year they loved riding the bikes and big wheels. Lauren and Bill are so accomodating.

The view of the lake from the house is amazing. Every night we eat dinner on the deck and watch the sun reflect off of the water. There is nothing better.

We look forward to another year at Doc's or as the kids call it "The Brown House".

We would recommend this house to anyone looking to visit Lake Sacandaga. I can't imagine finding a house with a better location and better owners.

wonderful weekend getaway for young couple

My girlfriend and I rented this wonderful and warm home for 3 nights, to go cross country skiing at the nearby Nordic Ski Center. That was the plan anyway. We only went skiing on 1 of the days, choosing to lounge around and relax for most of our time, cooking in the well stocked kitchen, or cozying up together in front of a beautiful fireplace (with glass doors on either side of stone fireplace overlooking the lake). The house was very clean, linens, kitchen, everything, and we couldn't have wanted it any nicer. Leaving was difficult on our final day, and the owners were nice enough to let us checkout very late in the day (no one had it booked that evening). I hope to come back, and would love to stay again in the summer time (tho would come back for snow again too).
